@Lemon-Fox I’m curious as to which staffer made that statement. If it was a relatively new staffer (one who has been around for roughly a year or less), you may be able to take them at their word. If not… well, just be careful. Most of the time, ‘I haven’t had that experience,’ usually means, 'I haven’t had that experience yet. But I wouldn’t cry if the place really has turned over a new leaf (or at least buried the really nasty stuff far, far away from the non-twisted population of the game, and stopped hunting up new victims).

Also, the Empire snatching up worlds being due to dice results is a relatively recent thing, one that arose with the implementation of the naval combat system. Before that… well. It was basically, ‘Don’t bother locking the door… they’ll just knock it down or burn through it’. So you could either be under occupation, or be under occupation AND have to get a new door. This was especially true just after the timeshift.

As for population, the place is miles ahead of almost every other MUSH out there (even if you can see 100 logins on WHI, and about 40 of them turn out to be alts. That number has sunk to a rough average of 80-85, with at least 30 alts, but that’s still miles ahead of the 12-30 logins typical of most MUSHes), and there are a lot of scheduled events. Spontaneous on-grid RP seems to be coming back out of its grave at long last, too. This is entirely due to an influx of new and very active players over the last six months or so.

It was Discordia, and staff has been immaculate. There are occasionally semi-creepy players, but a simple “I’d prefer not to be greeted like that” has ended it on the spot. As for the Empire eating worlds, the Rebellion has since come out of its coma and been aggressively fighting back, in really stellar world-plots. For example, Tion 2 is currently viciously contested in a space war between guerilla Rebel starfighters (Black Squadron) and Imperial forces, while Turkana has been embroiled in an active ground resistance. I managed to fly up to the neck of an AT-M6 during one battle and disable its heavy guns through slicing while tanking point defense fire in my power armor. 10/10 experience!

The Hutt Cartel has also been experiencing a renaissance, while PC pirate activity is on the rise. I think Andor’s lasting impression has people energized and plots are going strong. Good time to come join us! There are also Jedi and Sith about, sometimes. My PC is gearing up to kill one.

So, I heard Cujo went off and fired Maelstrom - not sure why, but sounds like new drama! Any details out there?

            I have a sordid tale.

First off, I was one of the ones who said the game had changed for the better. I’m sorry, I was wrong, but not in the way you might think.

This tale goes way back. Way back to the days when United Heroes exploded due to the actions of, well Ruby. That crazy bitch is still around. Still on HAM as Rogue and Wonder Woman. She’s also on AoA as Rey. For a long time, she seemed fine. Wildly different from the crazy control beast she is over on the cape game. I was wrong.

I was in a scene with her and a handful of others, just hanging out in one of the Jedi enclaves. A little slice of life social thing to farm some XP and be low key. My Jedi, who is a former Sith who was brought out of it by some fantastic RP by the, now former, Ben Solo (who is an old friend of mine and a solid dude who features more in a little bit) who was functioning as her Jedi teacher. The question was ICly asked where he was, and a flippant joke was made about him being in the wilderness, flying a ship somewhere or with his girlfriend.

About twenty minutes later, Ben and said OC girlfriend (who was one of Mael’s alts) get paged by Cujo. A TWO AND A HALF HOUR rant about how FCs aren’t supposed to play with OCs one on one, where they should not be in romantic relationships with OCs. Where they in the name of all that is holy should not get MARRIED and have CHILDREN (which wasn’t even a THING with those two) because BY GOD that would give an ORIGINAL CHARACTER undue LEVERAGE over the PRECIOUS THEME.

The precious theme of foreverwar with the Sith who, despite having like maybe half the number of PCs as the Rebellion, aren’t allowed to actually permanantly lose. There was a couple board posts made, outlining the policy or whatever. And it calmed down for about a day.

Til Saturday when Cujo @newpassed Mael. Because she stressed him out.

At this point, Ben and Mael are walking, I’m walking, and it wouldn’t surprise me if others are gonna follow. Ben has been DRIVING some real good RP on that bit and showing up to stuff on his Mando. And people are gonna ask questions about why a handful of real active players just aren’t there anymore.

Adding on to this, Cujo is, apparently, trying to make Ruby and someone else staff. That someone else is the player of Jean Grey on HAM. Also a crazy fuckhead control freak. So that’s a good time.

In other news, anyone got an AoA DB dump, I want to make a revenge game. With plot, and staff that don’t treat it like it’s a Pern game from 1996.

              @Popes

Why can’t we have a nice SW place that isn’t awash in drama? 🙂

But I would love to see one that has a good, large grid, some nice tools (As much as the Space system annoys me with the time requirements, I have to admit, it’s a clever way to show distances involved), and where people can play as they will without someone breathing down their neck?

And hey, I was all about those Pern Games back in that time frame. As long as you didn’t catch goldie fever it wasn’t so bad…

                Do not do this.

Not just for your mental health (some things are best left behind), but because the codebase is an absolute mess at the best of times. What remains of the good Yeti-code is bridged by unneeded hacks, badly implemented FOTM, and a #1 that had the VISUAL flag set for a number of years.

Okay so maybe it is just for your mental health.

But still, I would love a SW mush that isn’t being run by a staff that isn’t packed with out-for-themselves types, and a head wizard that is more concerned with mollifying said staff than making it good for the players as a whole.

A pet peeve was hearing that someone working at one of the clubs got on blast by one staffer because she had an outrageous idea of playing the profession to the tune of that club, even if she was keeping it reasonably PGish.

Either leave the place open and the professions on the books and leave them alone for doing it, or close those clubs and take the profession off the list.

It’s 2025. No one under 18 is playing these games. Fuck it, make some private, lockable rooms and let people bone. It’s fine. No one cares.

@Popes I couldn’t care less either way, just don’t be a hypocrite about it. I can put up with a lot of stupid stuff - I’ve survived Gold Rider Drama that still boggles my mind back in the early days of Pernworld, I can survive anything after that. 🙂

(Was on the sands, standing for a Green, with no desire to be anything else, and was the last one to impress: but not green, gold: and the staff of that weyr sending me a page, “Here, the place is yours now, have fun!” and desting themselves)

I agree to no this; instead, Age of Alliances/Edge of the Empire/Force and Destiny. Use the cool dice!

Because people dont like the cool dice, obvs. They also hate space, which is a shame. Space is also cool.

A more accurate answer is because even while I am 48% focused on writing up rosters for L5R, and 36% focused on rosters for a Marvel Multiverse TTRPG rule game… a tiny bit of attention got snagged by CoH opening Mummy (that’s right, its back baby!)

Well, this all sucks. I was gone for a couple days and came back to not only Ben/Mando Alt being gone who were super cool, but also Ruby wanting to burn another MU I’m fond of. 😠

Will update as details emerge. Also, if you’re reading this Ben, hit me up! You’re the best! (I’m Roan/Nika.)

Anyway, I can’t say I feel a whole lot of pity for this happening considering Mael was gleefully going on and on about how Cujo had booted me from the game for ridiculous reasons as well. Cujo has a real chip on his shoulder when it comes to women, and this is yet another example of too many that shows it.

Had no idea Rey was crazy, but ya know, it’s the MU world so there’s always a chance of it.
