Dinkum and Clanfolk have taken over my life. Mostly Dinkum.
I desperately WANT to play Minecraft right now but I want to play the newest version, and one of forge’s recent updates broke my mods. ^^ MOST of the authors have updated/fixed, but not all, and so a chunk of my mods work on one version and the rest on the other and it’s basically unplayable. I need seasons AND minecolonies, damnit.
Still playing FFXIV.
Playing 7D2D with the boyfriend when I’m at his place; that’s been a great experience.
-
@Testament It didn’t grab me. I played it a bit with some friends (shout out to @farfalla) but it lacked SOMETHING for me.
-
I have not yet played Stray, the game about a cat with a robotic backpack trying to traverse the scary city of Robo-Tokyo to get back home. All I know is, it has a button to meow, and a button to claw people’s furniture.
That is all I need to know. I shall have it soon.

@Tez Final release build of Raft just dropped. Voidtrain also has similarities to the survival genre?
-
@Selira I will look into them, ty!
-
@GF it’s great
it has horror themes to it but not like jump-scares just like, there will definitely be a MOMENT where you’re like “wait, fuck, what” but
it’s great
-
7D2D, Conan (monetary scheme is about to get predatory, but you REALLY only need the base game as long as you’re not playing on their public servers), Grounded, Raft.
-
@IoleRae Oo, that’s two votes for Raft. It moved up my list. I really liked Conan, tbh. The aesthetics were great. I’m a simple Tez.
-
Conan is about to add ritualistic magic and a builder creative mode. ^^
Raft is excellent even solo, honestly. It’s more story focused than most survival craft games, but the way they present the story (it’s all breadcrumbs, basically) is excellent.

Huge mood.
-
Seriously though, Dinkum:
-
@IoleRae Harvest Moon: Australia Edition?
-
@IoleRae I was watching that! There’s another game I’ve been watching closely that you might enjoy, too, Nightingale.
-
My gaming is drifting more to my Switch lately, which surprises me since I’m generally a PC person, but it’s where I’m at.
I’ve finally gotten around to Metroid: Dread and it’s all I ever wanted out of a Metroid game, so it’s my hours sink atm. Also gonna pick up Neon White to start this weekend, I think, the vibe has finally won me over even though I mostly don’t do first-person stuff.
Stray is super-tempting. I usually wait until a game’s been out forever to buy but I am enjoying the screenshots.

While I haven’t played Animal Crossing, I have come to the understanding that it is closest to that, of the various ways the genre manifests. You start on a wild island with one NPC and others visit and you have to convince them to move in, then build their house. The houses/buildings are prefabs, but the game is voxel based and you have full control on paths/water/elevation (though, you have to move each individual shovel of dirt; there’s a wheelbarrel, but it only holds ten shovels of dirt, it’s rough).
Most charming thing I’ve played in a while, even with the tediousness of the dirt (everything else is fine; I expect the dirt thing to get adjusted in early access).
@Tez
Ooooo, thank you. (ETA: lol, had it on my wishlist already apparently! IT LOOKS SO COOL!!!) -
Ark 2 is coming out in… October?? I will disappear off the face of the earth when it happens to breed a dynasty of Argentavis named after pantheons of gods.
Lately though, I’ve been playing Path of Exile, V Rising, Mythgard (Digital card game with gorgeous artwork and a fun setting) and recently put down Grounded which was an amazingly fun Honey I Shrunk the Kids style survival game.
-
@BurnNotice Are you me? AM I YOU?
-
@Tez I am a total sucker for survival games because I love to build houses, lol.
-
@IoleRae Aha! Probably not for me, then, but I know AC has a HUGE appeal to a ton of people. I’ll mention it to the roommates. Sure a cute game with a neat theme, though!
I’m a huge sucker for any kind of game where you build an economy, myself. Games where you start with nothing and are struggling for basic needs but by the end you have massive infrastructure and automation. ONI, Dwarf Fortress, Satisfactory and others all scratch this itch, but I’m always on the look out for more.

Have you looked at Clanfolk?
