General Video Game Thread

Hi there! I know you nerds are playing other games out there. Right now my fixations have been on Klei games, between Griftlands (Deck builder with strong similarities to Slay the Spire and others with a very unique sci-fi noir setting), Oxygen Not Included (Dwarf Fortress/Rimworld-like about living on an asteroid. Does this genre have a name?) and even getting back into Don’t Starve.
Also, I just picked up Stray, which has some themes I absolutely did not expect from a game where you play as a cat, and Vermintide 2, which has been a blast in terms of just … a ridiculously fun L4D clone.
CK3, WoW, FF14 and Stardew Valley are also fun, constant presences.
What have people been playing?

I play a lot of Elder Scrolls Online. Far too much.
I will also play Stray once it’s optimized properly for PC. I’m here for cat simulator.

I’m a pretty flaky video gamer but when I play, I play:
Rimworld
Minecraft
I’m flirting with getting back into League of LegendsIf anyone would like to play those with me (except Rimworld I guess? I would LOVE multiplayer on that) hmu.

Other than grinding my face against the wall of Thordan in FFXIV, I mostly play survival games lately.
I keep dipping back into Ark chasing a high it hasn’t been able to give me in a while. I NEED NEW MULTIPLAYER SURVIVAL GAMES. What’s fun??

@Tez I’ve heard Valheim is really good, but I’ve never played a lot of survival based games.

FFXIV is always there to varying degrees, right now I’m mostly just on for raiding and grinding my face against the wall of Thordan with @Tez.
Other than that, sometimes I can go through phases where I find it really difficult to stick with a game, BUT recently I’ve been on a mystery game kick. Some of Frogwares’ Sherlock Holmes game, currently working on their Sherlock Holmes Chapter One they released last year. And I also played The Centennial Case recently, which is a recent FMV mystery game I had a lot of fun with.
I had been doing a Final Fantasy XV replay as well recently, put it on pause. I’ll probably get back to it!

Dinkum and Clanfolk have taken over my life. Mostly Dinkum.
I desperately WANT to play Minecraft right now but I want to play the newest version, and one of forge’s recent updates broke my mods. ^^ MOST of the authors have updated/fixed, but not all, and so a chunk of my mods work on one version and the rest on the other and it’s basically unplayable. I need seasons AND minecolonies, damnit.
Still playing FFXIV.
Playing 7D2D with the boyfriend when I’m at his place; that’s been a great experience.

@Testament It didn’t grab me. I played it a bit with some friends (shout out to @farfalla) but it lacked SOMETHING for me.

I have not yet played Stray, the game about a cat with a robotic backpack trying to traverse the scary city of Robo-Tokyo to get back home. All I know is, it has a button to meow, and a button to claw people’s furniture.
That is all I need to know. I shall have it soon.

@Tez Final release build of Raft just dropped. Voidtrain also has similarities to the survival genre?

it has horror themes to it but not like jump-scares just like, there will definitely be a MOMENT where you’re like “wait, fuck, what” but

7D2D, Conan (monetary scheme is about to get predatory, but you REALLY only need the base game as long as you’re not playing on their public servers), Grounded, Raft.

@IoleRae Oo, that’s two votes for Raft. It moved up my list. I really liked Conan, tbh. The aesthetics were great. I’m a simple Tez.

Conan is about to add ritualistic magic and a builder creative mode. ^^
Raft is excellent even solo, honestly. It’s more story focused than most survival craft games, but the way they present the story (it’s all breadcrumbs, basically) is excellent.

My gaming is drifting more to my Switch lately, which surprises me since I’m generally a PC person, but it’s where I’m at.
I’ve finally gotten around to Metroid: Dread and it’s all I ever wanted out of a Metroid game, so it’s my hours sink atm. Also gonna pick up Neon White to start this weekend, I think, the vibe has finally won me over even though I mostly don’t do first-person stuff.
Stray is super-tempting. I usually wait until a game’s been out forever to buy but I am enjoying the screenshots.
