it doesn’t take away from the potential the game has if/when it is being done correctly.
I think it does. If you make a character on a game you wanna know that you’re not gonna be kicked off in the middle of your stories for no good reason. You wanna know that if someone on staff is shady and unethical and will break the rules that the head staff will hold them accountable so that you haven’t wasted your time and energy building stories that just disappear on a whim.
@Polk proved that you can’t count on either of those things at Liberation. The rules don’t apply to him and Sundance is fine with it cause she needs his help so he can do whatever shady shit he wants to do. That’s what that place is. People should know. All their pretentious running off at the mouth and 5 pillars of ethics bullshit doesn’t mean anything. Cause even before he went and started booting people without reason Sundance was being told about how shady @Polk was being in his sphere and she just blew it off. And even after he tore past the line of sketchiness into outright despotism, when she did step into the situation she had the gall to blame you for speaking up.
Here’s from their website:
We will never ban you, or threaten to ban you for disagreeing with us about most things. Threatening players out of one’s own insecurity has an immensely corrosive effect on a game’s culture. You will not be banned, say, for accusing a Director of cheating. It will be investigated. You will not be banned for speaking up when you witness an injustice. We’re all too committed to this game having a professional reputation to cover for one person’s malfeasance. And yet that’s exactly what happened. You raised concerns about not being dealt with fairly. You did it calmly and respectfully, without ranting or raving. And he booted you. Pretty much everything they say there on their website, they went the opposite of because it suited them, @Polk first and Sundance by giving him a pass on it.
So hell yeah it takes away form the potential of the game. You can’t trust these people to respect their own rules, how are you going to trust them to respect any of their players? @Polk is all about himself and people shouldn’t expect anything else.

@lionking Way to try and put words in my mouth.
The point is simply this: When you start offering incentives on the fly, you aren’t having people on an even footing. If you don’t want more of a specific thing then just say you’re not taking a specific thing.
By giving out free things what little balance there is, is completely thrown out the window.
P.S. If you think 10 freebies is /nothing/ in oWoD… then I don’t think we’re ever going to see eye to eye.
P.P.S. I wasn’t trying to make a Lupus either, but one thing I do know is that by arbitrarily powering up Homids to Lupus levels of Gnosis without the negatives that are associated with being a Lupus?
That’s beyond what I consider reasonable. So I left. Not the game for me. I didn’t cause a scene. I didn’t do anything unreasonable, but hey. WTF do I know.

@lionking I think you have me confused with someone else. The only thing I asked on the channel was this: ‘Are all non-Lupus getting the gnosis bump?’ And to which they answered: ‘Nope it is arbitrary as fuck’ and I GTFO without another word.
So no. You’re still trying to paint me in a light that is completely unfavorable. So the only bullet that was dodged was by me, because if /this/ is how someone reacts to one person making a simple small comment on a forum, and saying a single line on a game while they are in chargen?
Damn.
All I got to say from my perspective, is /this/ is showing me /exactly/ why I am glad I GTFO and the game was /definitely/ not for me.
ETA: Pretty disingenuous to say that game somehow dodged a bullet by my not playing there. I am A) Not disruptive. B) Active in generating RP for others. C) I run plots for people. D) I’m a pretty good RP’er judging by others compliments and desires to RP with me on the game I do play right now so…
Piss off whoever you are who makes huge assumptions. Not going to be bullied by you.

Yikes, dude/dudette. It’s always good to make sure you’re actually talking to the person you think you are before you open with both barrels like that. It’s a completely reasonable reason to nope out, and @Mourne’s conduct was not even remotely able to be qualified as a “meltdown”. Characterizing it as such is not reflecting poorly on HIM.
You’re not the only one blown away by how petty somebody is being. I’m not sure this is the impression you want to be giving people about this game.
ETA: I suggest you consider that perhaps – just perhaps – more than one person objected to the thing that had Mourne walk.
-
i do find it interesting that every time i hear people talk about liberation in a negative light, it’s always polk involved, not directly sundancer.
i know derp had a thing, and now this thing? etc.
-
@Meg With me, it was Sundancer who made me leave, but now that this is all going down… definitely glad I didn’t try a non-Sundancer involved sphere.
Delusional people.
-
@Mourne oh sorry, i might have misinterpreted some of the posts i read. my eyes glaze over a bit when i am introduced to words like gnosis and splat (i figured out what splat is; still don’t know what a gnosis is).
-
MANA
-
@Meg Pretty sure it’s a type of potato pasta. Delicious.
-
@Meg Upvoted because jfc, the effort it took me to get an explanation for ‘splat’
-
@Meg Gnosis is a very expensive stat to raise that forms the dice pool for some supernatural abilities and the resource pool you spend for others. It represents how connected to the quote-unquote natural world you are, so werewolves who were born with two legs and nipples have less, while werewolves born with four legs and six nipples have more.
-
@Meg Gnosis is spiritual energy used by Shifters in oWoD, and power stat for mages in nWoD iirc.
Essentially it goes like this:
Human born shifters start with 1 (nearly all the time for every species barring extremely rare outliers) because humans are not in sync with Gaia, Spirits, and other levels of being generally.
Metis (Shifters born of two shifters) start with a 3, because they’re born in the monstrous war form, and can’t exist in polite society, and have to be raised by either really patient (and brave) kinfolk, or by a community of shifters.
Lupus, aka animal born, start with 5 as they are in sync with nature and themselves because, animals.
Metis have deformities and are sterile.
Lupus lose access to a plethora of abilities and backgrounds in general.
So there is some measure of balance.
And what @GF said
-
@Testament I lol’d. Also it is delicious.
-
@GF wait, so does that mean Sundance was basically telling these appers ‘hey, you wanna be born with more nipples? that’s the incentive i’m offering you’.

That checks out, yes.
-
@GF I always knew that nipples were magic and having more of them would make me a sorceress.
