Priority table I feel like offers more of a classless system that I really liked Shadowrun for. However, understanding that isn’t everyone’s cup of tea it was just going to be a starting point. Something that I haven’t look at is, is a person choosing lifestyle or karma based Character Creation end up with a character that is similar to those that the Priority Table ends up with.
But I’m just one person doing development really with a few really good advisors helping. So I had to pick a starting point and logically it was the priority table since as stated it before it’s likely the one most SR players know. Especially since the only really other MUs out there for SR use it.

I have thrown around a roster like concept. It’s not so much that players will be ‘Mr. X’ who comes from the CAS and is a fixer.
More like here… here is an Ork Fixer template that you can change the name and basic information of and run with it how you like.

I totally agree with this, but I do love when people also build out crazy automated sheet builders that do all the math. I think that’s because I like complex code objects, which is also hilarious because I’m a terrible coder…

Because staff is going to comb over their +sheet before approval to make sure things are cool, anyway. Just letting people put whatever, OR to do chargen through like… email or something… and then giving it a sanity check after, seems easier code-wise.

But! I’m also still super into like… rosters so people can grab pre-gennerated characters and run with them. So ymmv, you do you.
That’d all be fine, theoretically, if the game never has any more than like ten people at a time.
Sure, the code might be complex, but once it’s done, it saves chunks of time for each application, be it five or five hundred. So staff can focus more on what makes sense thematically rather than mechanically.
With the added bonus of staff and players not having to do the math manually and getting frustrated, or making mistakes.

I’ve coded a game in Evennia and I have spare moments of 5 - 10 minutes from time to time. I’m afraid I don’t know a thing about Shadowrun, though.
I can’t promise anything, but I’d at least be willing to peruse your code to see what can be done.

That’s certainly true, but TTRPG systems are designed for humans, not computers. They often have ridiculous edge cases, exceptions, and dependencies that can be nightmarish to code. (Believe me, I’ve tried… or don’t believe me and look at the backlog of one of the popular Shadowrun Character Generator apps)
You have to weigh the relative effort of the code vs. the time you’ll spend on apps. Obviously some games are harder than others, but sometimes it really does make more sense to NOT code it.

Kassien is, in fact, looking for build work and ST work, not code work. He was understanding when I pointed this out.
I volunteered to do code review, as I said above. Kassien reached out to me and showed me around. I was requested to do data entry for things like copying skill info from the sourcebook and possibly writing NPC scripts. I thanked him, but declined, as that wasn’t what I volunteered for. Perhaps someone else has the energy to do that?
He said he’d reach out if there ever was code review that needed to be done, and I’m fine with that.

I should add to my post code review will be helpful with familiarity with Shadowrun knowledge as at this point it would ne to make sure the code is following the book rules.

I had a big long response to this that got eaten somehow, but the gist was ‘yes, a few, including Shadowrun: Denver where even though there is comprehensive code that checks many things for you, a lot of it is conditional and you have to go behind the code and double-check it anyway’…
But also having a game where the mentality is ‘code knows it, so Staff doesn’t have to’ leads to problems like ‘we need to hire a new staffer who understands X ruleset!’
Like, this isn’t WoD where each sphere has a fuck-ton of books with their own rules. There are 1-2 Shadowrun books for the different archetypes (maybe), not whole game line for Werewolf. People can be forgiven for not knowing them all, because you don’t want all 20-something Werewolf books.
So that could just be the specific mentality of Shadowrun: Denver, and could be solved by not hiring people who aren’t willing to even try to learn the rules.
All of that is ignoring the possibility of the code having bugs and giving people more or less than they ought to have. The code says au gave spent too many points, but my eyes show me I have spent too few, and my fingers concurred when I counted on them.

Consider a weird compromise I just thought about and have put no consideration into how to balance it: a priority system where instead of X points for Attributes, Y points for Skills… a version that gives you Karma to spend on them instead.
So if you are Priority A Attributes, instead of 24 points, you get, say… 400 Karma that must be spent on Attributes. Or some other number. 24 points of Attributes can be anywhere from 360 Karma (all 8 Attributes raised to 4) to 470 (Four Attributes raised to 6, one Attribute raised to 5, three Attributes left at 1). And that’s not even taking Metahumans who can go above 6 into account.
… the same basic thing can be done for Skills and Magic stuff and Nuyen, too. Basically I’m asking for Karma Chargen with extra steps to make it look like it’s still priority.

I am great at mindless data entry and basic math checks, my problems are distraction squirrels stopping me from learning how code. So if you give me a template to copy/paste/edit, I can halp get all of the things put in at… some point.

The reason I don’t do both full roster and my roster system…simply is time. I have enough time and patients to pick one priority at a time and that right now is to get the character creation done.
