If you run into this player in the wild you might think they can be friendly and inclusive; at worst pushy, aggressive, and a little disingenuous about their character’s position or significance.

She’s actually much worse than that. This is a person who is ready and willing to lie in order to get close to people who want nothing to do with her.

This is a person who is ready and willing to lie about who they are OOC in order to escape consequences of their own actions, and take it to shocking extremes, such as paging people OOC to ask for dirt on the ‘former player’ - herself.

This is a person who is ready and willing to lie about other people OOC in order to avoid those same consequences.

If she is playing your game and you think she’s not ‘that bad’, well. I thought that, too. Like, not great but not bannable. Yet the amount of drama and stress and heartache and vitriol she is responsible for is staggering. Her possible ‘not that bad’ behavior is not worth it.

I very strongly disagree these detectors should be discounted. Don’t use the free one google suggests and no other checks, obviously, but the hobby needs to be protected from this slop, at whatever costs. It’s an inherently vulnerable hobby, where everyone is agreeing to submit their actual writing to another person in a scene for reaction. For fun!

It’s not just that LLM writing is hollow, bloated, and uninteresting (though it is), it’s also a breach of that fundamental contract to use it. I have always told people if they aren’t in it to have fun AND make fun for their scene partners, they need a new hobby. If you are using LLMs you are not engaged and you certainly aren’t trying to be fun to rp with.

I’ve had the conversation on other threads, so I won’t get into it again here if people reply back to tell me all the ways I’m wrong, but taking a tool that improves writing and using it on text based game seems like it would be a godsend to cure many of the ills that people have complained endlessly about for decades - bad writing, lack of storytellers, no interesting plots.

But to each, their own. People will feel how they feel about it and that’s okay, I guess. Its just sad for me cause I loved this hobby and I really thought this might actually put some life back into it, like CPR. So it was disappointing/sad/whatever when all the villagers pointed at the thing that could bring someone back to life thereby improving the outlook/prosperity of the entire community, called it a witch, and want it burned at the stake.

ETA: Not for nothing, but to go along with the analogy, some non-small portion of the thread is basically a witch hunt - with dubious degrees of accuracy.

If your rp isn’t boring and hollow, then it won’t ping as AI even if you use em-dashes for whatever reason. It’s not just the dashes.

I was just in a position where I could see so many problems were the result of ‘i thought X and i were on the same page, now they have done something off-script and I am feeling HURT so their actions were done on purpose to HURT ME’

No one is even bringing receipts to this thread, when there are absolutely receipts that prove you are still lying/were lying when you got banned. The audacity of crying off with some ‘people love to go for blood’ when YOU WERE THE ONE WHO TRIED TO GET PEOPLE TO GO FOR BLOOD.

This isn’t 2001, no one believes your girlfriend wife from Canada ‘had’ your password and logged you on to accidentally pose as you. No one believes someone you never rpd with on a new game told you in secret that no one but you had been nice to them so please take all their org’s resources.

I just wanted to know what the mindset is that makes someone sock puppet on a new game instead of, idk, trying to rp.

Even if SauNOT, this guy has more than once joined a game just to cheat, right out of the gate, with a side of negging the game runner from the fake alt for absolutely no reason. ‘your game sux, no one has reached out or been nice to me except Me’

And then posted a banning conversation to try and sabotage said game. Yikes, buddy

I think in the realms of tough calls, it’s important to keep in mind that anything a player is throwing YOUR way, as a staffer, they are doing that and probably worse to their fellow players.
