What's up with the two Age of Heroes games?
-
In my personal experience, while I have never interacted with Chaucer or Vorpal, I’ve heard enough about them from people I trust that I steer clear of Superhero MUs because of their behavior specifically.

Didn’t he rather publicly quit staffing on UH over the behavior of some of the other staff? That doesn’t seem like the best way to protect its rep. Before my time though.
Hey, if you weren’t there to see it/read it, maybe don’t trot it out as evidence of anything?
I was there. I know the deep lore. The game was already kind of going down in flames when he did it, only after being like, ‘i can change him, guys, everything else about him is good except the abuse’ at us.
Instead, maybe drop the spicy gossip you do got that you alluded too. Or stop alluding to spicy gossip you’re not willing to drop; it makes you less credible when you vague post something without following up.

When everything caught fire the first time, he claimed to be “investigating” after he got called out for lying to cover for other staffers. It wasn’t until months later that he quit - oddly, without announcing anything his detective skills had uncovered or apologizing for any of the lies he had told.

Seriously. The only “exchange” I ever had, I posted here.

I didn’t know Vorpal before I knew him, so I can’t speak to any possible Damascene conversions. I suspect that it’s you who doesn’t know him well at all, but then he can be impressively abrasive at times so that’s going to happen.
Your complaint about Chaucer, yes. I have no idea why you’re bringing up something about UH, it’s HAM we’re discussing. I wasn’t staff on UH. You may recall that you bringing up old grievances on previous games was part of the discussion?
So, you picked Raven to app specifically because you thought her player was “very close to Chaucer” and wanted to provoke a response? Yet you actually got the character at first, which rather undermines your interpretation of events here. The character was on idle and open to be claimed, regardless of how close Chaucer was to the player (not as close as you think, I’m seeing a theme). That happened, the system worked. I’d say someone with a previously acrimonious relationship with staff returning to take a character with the specific intent of provoking staff being asked to leave is also the system working.

I’ve known of him since I was 13. I am now in my 30s. He has been a massive piece of shit for that entire time.
My complaint about Chaucer’s behavior was on HAM. Try to keep up.
Where’s this exchange you kept referencing?

@Meg
Do you see the little curly thing with a dot underneath it at the end of my first sentence? That’s a question mark. It indicates questioning, not providing, evidence. I do know that he basically set fire to the place twice because of the behavior of staff there. I can’t speak of any mistakes he might have made before that, because again, before my time and therefore I don’t really care.maybe drop the spicy gossip
No. Private communications between players and staff should remain private. Shocking concept around these parts, I know. Don’t be too disappointed though, there’s nothing particularly spicy. Just the normal boring interwebs he said / she said. I have no desire to rake Prototart who I have zero beef with over the coals, just reminding people that there are two sides to every story, and Prototart’s interpretation of events differs significantly from that of the other people who actually witnessed it. That’s all.
One random person on the internet to another random person on the internet – you’re entirely welcome to believe whatever you wish.
-
Well gosh, given that the only player involved would have been me, I can go right ahead and waive any expectation of privacy involving communication I had with staff on HAM, since I have posted all of it here.
-

That’s certainly longer than me. You two have been at loggerheads as long as I’ve known him, so perhaps there was a damascene conversion and you just missed it because you already hated him? I don’t know. I’m only going to judge someone on what’s in front of me, not on gossip about how they used to be a decade ago. The Vorpal I know is lots of things, including Furry Satan made MU*nifest, but not the person you’re describing.
My complaint about Chaucer’s behavior was on HAM. Try to keep up.
Yes, that’s why I was puzzled about you bringing up UH. The whole Miss Sinister thing was on HAM. Which was the subject of our conversation.
Well gosh, given that the only player involved would have been me, I can go right ahead and waive any expectation of privacy involving communication I had with staff on HAM, since I have posted all of it here.
I respect the privacy of the other staff as well as your privacy. If you’ve already posted it yourself, then no problem right? It’s already out there.

@SockMonkey Sorry, but this is going to be a really dull spectator sport. xD

So, to summarize:
“I think you’re leaving out a few details.”
“I posted everything when it happened.”
“I’ve seen that exchange.”
“Anyone can see it. I posted it.”“You should post it.”
“I would never violate someone’s privacy.”“Well, it’s me, so violate away. Also, I posted it all.”
“I respect the privacy of staff, too! Also, yes, it’s what you posted years ago.”Enthralling.

Then don’t fucking vague post, my dude. If it should remain private, why are you bringing it up here? Like, get a life. Go post on Facebook about your neighbor.

As a spectator with 0 context, I’m having loads of fun here fyi

why are these parts catching strays??

I literally warned sockmonkey just above it wouldn’t be!
In a similar spirit, let’s summarize that whole Miss Sinister thing then:
“I’d like to app this character.”
“Interesting! Powerful character, would need a nice villain plot arc really. Would take a lot of work and nerfing to make this an RP character.”
“It’s just for an RP character but I shouldn’t have to nerf them because of characters x, y and z who got allowed before.”
“Right, in that case no. An app like this is a lot of work for staff, you’re far from being a regular player who has a history of generating RP for other people to justify that work.”You made totally valid points about inconsistency in previous apps, it was a major problem HAM had. Prior mistakes are not a good source of precedent for future decisions though.
Apart from that though? Chaucer was perhaps a little brusque. It’s really not a compelling grounds for complaint against a staffer, though. Nor is “but prior history, please police things that happened in the past on some other game.” I honestly think if you re-read that exchange with an eye to impartiality you’ll agree in retrospect it just wasn’t a big deal.
Didn’t you and Chaucer used to be friends? This is a tiny hobby, and it seems a shame when two generally perfectly reasonable people end up fighting over miscommunications, or someone having a bad day and saying something ill-advised (we ALL do it sometimes), or whatever. I have no idea what your past issues have been, but we’re not talking about a Ditko or whoever here, after all – and it behoves us all to remember we never have the full picture. Wouldn’t it be better if you two buried the hatchet?
-
@Meg Facebook? Really? xD

@Colette i said what i said. you gonna come at me with sass for telling the truth, gonna have to take it.
Honestly, you’re doing yourself and your side no favors strolling in and ‘asking questions’ and then retreating behind ‘it was only a question!’ about shit that happened a millenia ago in a different world while when you do allude to something, it all can’t be spilled because of privacy!! While arguing again, about mostly shit other people have told you.
Like, this is solid advice. Either let those people come defend themselves, or defend whatever staffing decisions you have made, but don’t defend other people unless you know something and can affirm one way or another with it. Otherwise you just are being weak and ineffectual.
