@catzilla Yeah, I ultimately decided against it.

@SpilledBeanz Well good on Cujo. Ugh, I’ve been jonesing to log back on, and it’s good to see him actually take a stand on something, even if it took something this awful to get him to do so. We’ll see.
sharayr always gave me a really weird vibe. Never RP’d with the other guy though.

RE: Does Anyone Even Care?posted in Game Gab
My mentality is “I’m here for a good time and maybe a long time.” If I’m not interested in what’s happening, I just kinda…wander off. Or, if I really like the place, I’ll try to make my own fun right up until someone tells me “I’m doing it wrong.” Which is basically what happened with AoA and Cujo.
Right now I’m between games and just waiting to see if one pops up that looks more interesting than just booting up the PlayStation.I don’t really feel any drive to ride a game into the sun.

I don’t get harassed on AoA.
That’s the neat part, you won’t be. You’re extremely chatty and candid in this thread and they know that, and the best PR that they have right now is for you to remain unharassed and continue doing what you’re doing. There’s too much risk that you’ll change your tune and denounce AoA if Hadrix or any of the million other sex pests decides they no longer like taking “no” for an answer.
Side note: I did beseech you to have a great time on AoA last year, and it looks like you have, but “it didn’t happen to me so it’s not a problem” is not a good look. The protection given to you is not given to others.
Ouch. This one hurt.
And @DapperPenguin , all right. It will suck, but all right. I know what happened to you and Ben is just waiting to happen to me, the moment I try to be relevant in the plot again.
Maybe this is the perfect time to go anyway, when I’m not invested.
@Meg I’ve never once asked for sympathy? I’ve just been reporting my findings along this journey, sheesh.
@catzilla said in Star Wars Age of Alliances: Hadrix and Cujo:
Just make your own game with your friends who aren’t sex pests or abuse enablers and have fun with that.
I have no interest in running a game. I just like being a player who can dip in and out as the mood strikes.

Okay. So, give me a place to play. Somewhere fairly busy, without draconian standards of what you can or cannot pose, where I can be a socialite without running scenes or getting anything approved.
Do you have that?
Because weirdly enough, I don’t get harassed on AoA. Every time someone got a little too weird, I’ve asked them to stop and they did. Twice, before you ask. And I’ve never had someone go out of their way to make my life miserable, which did happen on Arx and a couple superhero MUs.
When I say I can just ignore Cujo and little changes for my gaming experience, I mean it. So what do you want me to do, exactly? Quit to make a pointless statement?

RE: Star Wars Age of Alliances: Hadrix and Cujoposted in Rough and Rowdy
Since a lot of people asked: Because it is a fun place to play. It was more fun when I had more friends there, but it’s not like there’s a ton of really active places to peddle my unique brand of lazy socializing. Usually when a game gets mentioned as an alternative, I log on to find 4-8 people there.
I like big games like AoA and Arx, where there are people of all sorts about at 1am. I was miffed about Cujo because I tried to actively reach out to him and interact. Him being weird doesn’t make the game unplayable.
But, that said, I don’t think I’ve seriously played since September. I just keep hoping the spark will reappear, and if it doesn’t, whatever.

@DapperPenguin Thank you. I think I needed to hear this. I can’t promise I’ll walk away yet, but… Ugh. I think I always suspected. And I let Cujo talk me out of my convictions, not once but twice. That’s very unlike me. Thanks for speaking up. I really appreciate it.

RE: Star Wars Age of Alliances: Hadrix and Cujoposted in Rough and Rowdy
After talking to Cujo about what happened, he pointed out that he had no idea who Ruby was, and did not mean to intentionally lie to me. And that’s fairly plausible, to be honest. And while I’m still not happy with how everything went down, he did offer to show me the complete logs of when he confronted some friends over the ruling that caused the whole thing. So I don’t think he was trying to be duplicitous. It would be extremely easy to compare those logs to what my friends had.
A few recent comments have made it seem like all this has been an ‘Ah ha!’ moment that all the staff on AoA are bad, and that wasn’t my original take on things. I still like to believe the best in people, but actions do speak louder than words, and Cujo taking the time to talk to me rather than banning me speaks fairly well of him as a person.
I like to correct things as more information becomes available, and I try to be as fair as possible. There’s always more context to be had.
(Still sad my friends are gone though.)

@Jennkryst you cannot bait me with the idea of a BattleTech MUSH then suddenly waylay me with Exalted! All I want is to take a contract in my MAD-5M against some Capellans and drain two cases of Timbiqui Dark when I get back to the mechbay!
Exalted Battletech. When your mech is destroyed, you leap out with your sword.

Seems all too often Discordia’s mantra on dealing with players is shoot, shoot, aim.
Oh my god, I literally had this conversation with someone about an hour ago, when they asked why I hadn’t asked Discordia about X Imperial plot. “Because she’s about as friendly and easy to talk to as a buzz saw?” “She’s just brusque! I’m brusque!” And I’m just like, “No, it’s a little more than that.”

Well, I said I would update this, so here goes:
You were right.
To everyone who told me: “You can’t trust Cujo!” and “The staff are crazy!” and “Bad actors will ruin your experience!” you were right and I admit defeat.
The game was fun for most of a year, where I had crazy adventures and made tons of friends and had a big impact on the game. Cujo was fun and silly and nonserious. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. Faction leaders on both sides were great to engage with, with one notable exception.
But everything came crashing down when Ruby did what Ruby/Rey does best and set fire to other people’s fun. Then Cujo lied to my face about it.
The update is as follows:
Many of my friends are gone or weeks idle. Plot progress receded into nothingness. The rebels were allowed a single world in all this time and the Empire got to blow up the Millennium Falcon. The Jedi are unchanged. The Sith are unchanged. The galaxy is unchanged.
And that’s not going to change any time soon, because Ruby/Rey had a bitchfit about Ben Solo having a girlfriend (not me). Sure glad we avoided THAT problem, you hateful harpy. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with you?
As for Cujo… I’m just hurt more than anything. I was only ever nice to him. Friendly. Encouraging. And he still lied to me.
I’m just really disgusted that she managed to do this to me not once but twice and I wasn’t even involved in the situation she flipped out about. And I’m actually pretty angry that Cujo proved this whole thread to be correct when I was absolutely convinced that it couldn’t be true. How gullible I must have seemed to him.
Anyway, that’s my final report, almost a full year since I tried to redeem this place’s name, unless something radically changes. I may log on now and then just to see if my friends have poked their heads back in. But I’m not holding my breath.
It was fun while it lasted, at least.

Wow, fuck that guy. I know nothing else about him and this alone is enough to make him the biggest piece of shit on the forum in my eyes.

Well, this all sucks. I was gone for a couple days and came back to not only Ben/Mando Alt being gone who were super cool, but also Ruby wanting to burn another MU I’m fond of.

Will update as details emerge. Also, if you’re reading this Ben, hit me up! You’re the best! (I’m Roan/Nika.)

@Lemon-Fox I’m curious as to which staffer made that statement. If it was a relatively new staffer (one who has been around for roughly a year or less), you may be able to take them at their word. If not… well, just be careful. Most of the time, ‘I haven’t had that experience,’ usually means, 'I haven’t had that experience yet. But I wouldn’t cry if the place really has turned over a new leaf (or at least buried the really nasty stuff far, far away from the non-twisted population of the game, and stopped hunting up new victims).
Also, the Empire snatching up worlds being due to dice results is a relatively recent thing, one that arose with the implementation of the naval combat system. Before that… well. It was basically, ‘Don’t bother locking the door… they’ll just knock it down or burn through it’. So you could either be under occupation, or be under occupation AND have to get a new door. This was especially true just after the timeshift.
As for population, the place is miles ahead of almost every other MUSH out there (even if you can see 100 logins on WHI, and about 40 of them turn out to be alts. That number has sunk to a rough average of 80-85, with at least 30 alts, but that’s still miles ahead of the 12-30 logins typical of most MUSHes), and there are a lot of scheduled events. Spontaneous on-grid RP seems to be coming back out of its grave at long last, too. This is entirely due to an influx of new and very active players over the last six months or so.
It was Discordia, and staff has been immaculate. There are occasionally semi-creepy players, but a simple “I’d prefer not to be greeted like that” has ended it on the spot. As for the Empire eating worlds, the Rebellion has since come out of its coma and been aggressively fighting back, in really stellar world-plots. For example, Tion 2 is currently viciously contested in a space war between guerilla Rebel starfighters (Black Squadron) and Imperial forces, while Turkana has been embroiled in an active ground resistance. I managed to fly up to the neck of an AT-M6 during one battle and disable its heavy guns through slicing while tanking point defense fire in my power armor. 10/10 experience!
The Hutt Cartel has also been experiencing a renaissance, while PC pirate activity is on the rise. I think Andor’s lasting impression has people energized and plots are going strong. Good time to come join us! There are also Jedi and Sith about, sometimes. My PC is gearing up to kill one.
