One of my first characters was Rowynna Blackshore. Loved playing her but I stopped before I got to the bottom of her secret, and if anyone can throw light on it, I’d love to know now.

Rowynna was actually Lady Elisabe Blackshore, sister to Oswald, Cornelius and Aedric. Elisabe went missing in the Darkwater twenty six years previously. Rowynna has no memory of what happened to her or where she spent those twenty six years, she only remembers waking up on a raft, the only survivor from the missing ship. I managed to get a vision on her that a figure in black platemail and chains rose up out of the waters and dragged the ship and crew under but I can’t now remember if the figure spoke to or communicated with her. I chased every clue I could but got no further than wondering if he was connected to the Queen of Stasis? Zircon? Had she been in stasis for 26 years? Eirene had a theory that the Darkwater transported people/things directly to the abyss. SO! I’d love to know who the figure was and where she was for the missing twenty six years.

She woke up and was still 19, when she made her way back to Arx, Oswald was dead, Cornelius 50ish and Aedric 40 something. She pretended to be a distant relative but eventually told Cornelius and in a very emotional scene, Aedric as well.

Big regret that I rostered her.

@Roz That’s the one, yes. I was told, perhaps incorrectly, that you had to have your primum cleansed and receive the clue in order to be able to learn magic when magic was possible. If that changed towards the end when people could learn magic regardless of whether or not they had their primum cleansed, I missed that info entirely.

Celine’s secret: A short while after The Tragedy, she awoke to noises in Sanctum. There weren’t any guards around and she followed the noises and, direct from her secret: ‘Her mother, Princess Marianne Valardin, stood over Celine’s older sister, a sword in the older woman’s hand now embeded deeply within the gasping Audrey’s stomach. Celine remembers screaming, the torches around the kitchen roaring to life seemingly in accordance to her disbelief, and her mother looking back at her. To this day Celine swears she could see a mark on Marianne’s forehead, glowing in fire, for a moment, before Audrey, still alive, stabbed their mother in the neck.’ Audrey got blamed for the murder of their mother and lost her nobility, there’s more to this, but that’s the player of Audrey to talk about, not me. Celine realised that something evil had infested the Oathlands, and over the following years infiltrated cults and hunted demons. I think she was a fledgling fire mage as when she lost her composure or panicked, things around her got incinerated. I didn’t manage to witness anyone’s ceremony to get the clue for learning magic so she never crossed over.

Part of her secret was that her mother had an affair with a Malardin of House Lenoir and showed him the secret passages beneath Sanctum, which were then used in The Tragedy. (SORRY VALARDINS!) She never told anyone about that and carried it as a guilty secret. It was that knowledge that drove her passion for hunting down and destroying The Malardin Brotherhood which, according to her secret, she excelled at.

Elsbetta’s secret was that her previous soul, Cassia, was beloved by the dragons, and in partuclar by Talar. If I read the clue I have on her correctly he and she were lovers. Cassia was the First Duchess of Westrock Rach and she was also known as The Lady of the Lost Star. There weren’t many clues to find on her as the original player dropped her way back when and she wasn’t played until I picked her up last year. Talar was slain by ‘King Diamond’ during the Reckoning and, believing his soul lost forever, she built a lighthouse on Westrock Reach so others, if not he, would be able to find their way in this world or the next. Oh yes, the Cardians were hunting Elsbetta according to clue #3084, but I think they were hunting quite a lot of the playerbase at one time or another!

Timezones being a thing, and my own being really incompatible to staff GM’d events, I wasn’t able to join in metaplot events and missed out entirely on the final crazy wind-up weeks. I’ve lived the last few weeks vicariously on the sidelines reading all the logs, and shedding a few tears for a couple of characters. Shout out to Mabelle and her bees.

@Raeras Yes. Just wondering how long ‘a bit down the road’ might be as that was the only reference I’ve seen. Months or years. Its been a hell of a ride nevertheless.

With the current game about to be brought to a point where staff conclude the current story and withdraw from active staffing, was a rough timeframe given for when the new iteration of Arx might land?

I’ve been spotty and don’t hang out on social platforms outside of the game, so could easily have missed any announcements.

Were you Marsalos when Marsia used her marriage prize to pick Nydias? Think I screwed things up for you if so, but it was amazing RP nonetheless!

@Smile My bad. I used to see him logged in all the time and a physical presence on the game, but don’t anymore. My brain forgot he stepped back to code.

@Polk Had is perhaps the keyword here. Following the retirement of @apos and @tehom, the database crash and the general burnout of staff in it’s wake, the game feels to be just stumbling along. It’s sad since I’ve played here since forever.

Arx has been down for hours, anyone know anyone that can poke someone on staff to kick the server?

Requiem for Kingsmouth (before Shava stepped away). I loved the territory system, the fact that ghouls were actually important and just. Yeah. If you didn’t play there, you’d probably not understand.

A very Great Lady and one I don’t think we’ll see the likes of again. My heart hurts and I’m sad.

Did @Herja finally drop that meteorite on the game? I can’t seem to use a few of the commands, can’t talk on any channels, even info to ask for help. In fact, my bit doesn’t show on any of the channels. Is it just me?

For me, this kind of thing gives me flashbacks to Firan and the Kinslayer War when Steph did world emits of the royal children being slaughtered in their cradles. It was overly graphic and horrendous and to this day I see no value in how staff relished in the portrayal of it. I’m more than happy that Arx staff have drawn a line.
