Baldur's Gate 3

I want to mod in better looking armor, but I looked at the instructions for the mod manager and my brain went:
-
@Cobalt If you ever want help walking through that, let me know. I’ve already modded the hell out of my game, let me know. Granted most of my mods are visual and making the game more true to DnD 5e rules, but running Baldur’s Gate 3 Mod Manager can be intimating. But once you learn it, it’s pretty seamless.
-
Added free cam mod. My new addiction is screenshots.
-
I’ve been watching some of the decisions you can make with your romancing and oh my god you can be an absolute asshole to everyone one of your companions.
And also, I’m really torn because I’m kind of in love with all of them now.
Save, Gale.
Gale is still kinda bland.
But Wyll and Lae’zel have really grown on me.

Couple more from last night and this morning…
Shadowheart’s view from the tower
Quick Hans’ time in the Shadow-Cursed Lands
Karlach bloodied after battle
-
MY GAME IS BORKED AND EVERYTHING IS RUINED! I can’t talk to my companions!!!
ALL I DID WAS ADD IN BLACK DYE
hysterical shrieking
-
Did you add the “bg3 mod fixer” and/or script extender? Annoying that you have to do this, but…
-
@SpaceKhomeini I did and it fixed not being able to talk to my companions but now it is yelling at me about data mismatch
-
@Cobalt The data mismatch warning happens for pretty much all mods (unless you have a mod specifically to remove it). So if it’s JUST that left, you can safely ignore it.
-
@SpaceKhomeini You should only need the Script Extender at this point(unless the mod specifically states you need both). In Patch 2, I believe, Larian built in it’s own mod fixer, because Larian is one of the few devs that supports mods. Also, the Script Extender allows you to still get Steam Achievements while using mods.
I mean hell, in the Definitive Edition of Divinity 2, they include a number of mods that come with the game itself.
@Cobalt The data mismatch is an artefact, but I believe the mod that removes that is the Improved UI mod. I forget off the top of my head which one removes it, but I think it’s that one. So long as you’re launching the game through the BG3 Mod Manager. Vortex is usually my go to for modding PC games since MM2 is not longer supported, but in this instance, BG3MM works so much better.
-
Improved UI does indeed include getting rid of the data mismatch; I think there’s at least one other mod that will do it, too.
The discussion about whether you still need the BG Mod Fixer always seems to be in flux. There was indeed a fix, but I know people still sometimes reported issues that were cleared up by having the BG Mod Fixer mod, so I’ve kept it. Whether or not you need the Script Extender is dependent on what kind of mods you have; if a mod needs it, it’ll specifically say it.
I also use BG3 Mod Manager. I’ve never experienced needing to launch the game from the mod manager, though; everything has worked fine for me still launching from Steam.
-
I’ve generally launch any game I mod through the mod manager if I’m modding it. In my experience that generally tends to create more stable play, but I figure that’s a YMMV situation.
The general consensus I’ve seen is that Mod Fixer and the Script Extender do the same thing, only the former is an actual mod and .pak file that’s loaded into mod order whereas the latter is a .dll file that’s inserted directly into the game’s Data folder. I think Script Extender is more stable, but I agree that some mods might still be dependent on Mod Fixer, depending on when the mod was created and if it’s been updated. I also agree that it’s been debated at length if only one is needed or both are. At this point, I just think it depends on the mod.
-
I don’t often show off characters I make, but I’m actually pretty proud of the Duegar Durge I created recently.
I need to toy around more with the free cam mod.
-
These horny npcs need to cool it!
|the emperor thought it had a chance with me?! When I have Astarion?! Awkward. -
ultimate power move is banging Mizora while romancing Wyll -
@Testament I saw the cut scenes for those, it’s so heart breaking.
-
OK, look. Listen. I’m on Act 3 and it’s great and all but I really really want to play one of the origin characters and try a different Durge game and I know I’ve restarted 100 times (at least) and still haven’t finished the game once but that’s normal, right? RIGHT?!
-
I’ve literally never finished most RPGs with origin systems I start for this exact reason and no it is totally fine and great
-
@Wizz You’ve convinced me, I restarted as Wyll
