HAHA IT IS DONE. It should be in the menu to the right of groups. It looks like a list. There is a limited selection of icons. If you have a mustard bottle let me know.
-
@Tez It unfortunately looks just like the category list.
-
@Tez Thanks!!

Yeah, hella neat. Thanks @Tez for adding it there and @glitch for developing it!
(And me. For this wonderful idea to put it there.)

I’m a hopeless Pern player, so I have an idea that’s been percolating for a stretch, even if it’s butting into AU territory rather than ‘proper’ Pern. I just need to get started with it to see if it actually has legs (and, if not, well- that’s fine, too.) Getting the details together on paper is easy. The hard part is (re)learning Python to tackle Evennia, because that seems like the only codebase that will properly do some of the things I need.

@Tez xD
The short form: the genetic programming for dragons is breaking down. They’ll still Impress, there aren’t any sport colors or anything, but they would be free of the ‘can’t hurt humans’ and ‘can’t hurt other dragons outside of flights’ restraints. Ideally, dragon traits would be inherited, so you get lines of dragons that have higher fertility (and might be bred for it), greater endurance, larger (or smaller) sizes, etc.
Humanity would be more… human-acting. Tattoos and piercings would be back on the menu. War would be a thing with Holders coveting land, engaging in hostile takeovers, and more Fax-like figures on the rise. Man vs. man, dragon vs. dragon. No AIVAS, but probably steampunk levels of tech, since… well, they have a fuckton of time between Threadfalls to work on developing stuff. It’d be adjusting for things that would just make a little more sense (to me, anyway) buuut that’s why it’s knocking on the door of an AU if not outright kicking it in.
-
@lucidmaus man. I also had a version of this game percolating in my mind for a while, especially with dragons becoming more inherently violent and with Weyrs wanting more power and tithes, which has basically become war between the Weyrs and Holders for control of Pern in the current time, with a small sect of dragonriders being on the Holder side.
-
I had a dragon on HT that killed a couple of dudes and it was amazing. PLUS, her dad had killed a dude so she was like “Look dad no hands!”
-
@Meg ahhhh, yesss. I want that. I want that so bad. Anything to break the klah-sipping and stale Threadfall cycle (and, yes, I love running Threadfall, but there’s only so much ‘dragonth burns ye clump of silver death’ a person can do).

You clearly have not fought Thread on FS3 combat.
That shit is AMAZING.

@lucidmaus if you wanna hit me up after the weekend, maybe we can percolate a game together! I’ve been meaning to learn how to code on evennia anyways; I do code just not in python.
Maybe we can find our admin styles and coding skills and theme ideas all gel together and we can make a game together!
(I’m in Chicago with friends at Acen until Sunday evening. But! My discord is gem#0001.)

@Meg Friend request sent! (I’m lucidmouse#5777)
Now, excuse me while I make all the ‘eeeee’ noises at all the possibilities!
-
@KarmaBum Well, now I’m just gonna be all grabby hands about that idea, too! I missed out (unless there’s somewhere that’s doing it now and I’m just oblivious!)
-
@lucidmaus @bear_necessities and I sandboxed it.
I’m kinda sorta maybe working on an Ares Pern - but nowhere near as far out there as you guys are talking.
Ninth Pass never ends, it’s now Turn 98 of essentially endless Threadfall.
Go.

So I’m going to talk about my game, mostly because it is one of sources of pride I have currently. I one day sat down and was going create a TT campaign, it was some strange almagation of elements from Elder Scrolls, Bablyon 5, The Witcher, and bunch of other elements and make it high-fantasy but post-apocalyptic.
And then I thought, “What if I threw in multiverse shenanigans’ as well?”
That’s basically what I got. Takes place in the last ‘free city’ caught inbeteween two nations locked in a cold war and it serves as a kind of ‘neutral ground’, even if said neutral ground is somewhat complicated.
The hardest part is two fold. 1, it’s operated as a kind of weekly TT group because we simply don’t have the numbers to be hugely active and well, people have lives. And 2, I’ve run into a roadblock trying to get the magic system to work. So haven’t really used automated combat and been relying on straight rolling with some math tossed in. It works. For now, but I’d like to expand further into that.
Eventually, at some point in the future, I’d like it to be more public, but that’s just more of a ‘how much time can we all devote to it?’ kind of thing. Eventually, it is a personal goal to be more open about it.
-
@Testament I think a game that operates more like a weekly TT session could be pretty cool. Do you have public logs or anything to read the story? No pressure or anything with this. Just interested how it plays out.
-
@Meg Logs are posted for things that staff runs because more often than not it’s going to be metaplot related in some way or function.
But players don’t have to post logs, that’s up to them. For example, one of the staffer’s has been running an event for a couple weeks now in more of a play-by-post thing. Because not everyone can be on at the same time. We try to be very flexible about player’s time. Because, well, a lot of us are getting old. Having kids, other hobbies, other interests.
Players are however welcome to play whenever they want. It’s kind of a group thing, while also being “Hey, here’s a grid, go do stuff on it. Just don’t do anything crazy.”
