I took a look and I didn’t see any mods or plugins that would cause avatars to function that way.
I didn’t see a setting that would limit gif uploads, either. I DID see a setting that will convert all uploaded avatars to png going forward, which MIGHT help with that in the future, so I’ve toggled that and will reach out to existing accounts asking them to de-animate.

Not sure about this one.
This seems like something more suitably solved at the browser level.
Ublock and most other adblockers will permit a user to block any avatars causing trouble. The argument of accessibility versus functionality is a tricky one.

Weird thing I noticed. If you’re on the Categories view, and I click through to the Advertisements board, I get this error:
If I then refresh the page, the board comes up as normal. This is only for the Advertisements section, though, none of the others, and I have at least one other person it’s impacting (who mentioned it to me).
Just kind of weird? Not sure if there’s some setting on the Ad board section that’s not on the others or what.

@farfalla For reference, you can actually still edit your signature without going to your profile! Click your avatar up top and there’s a direct “Edit Profile” option, and this seems to still be available.
but yes that’s how i found the issue

lmao I’M SORRY I was trying to add a thing to make it easy to add pronouns to your profiles but while I got the install working after a lil debugging it THEN broke the PROFILE so the whole thing got tossed in the trash.

I put mine in my profile description thing, so it shows up under my name on my profile. As another option.
