The only thing that annoys me about the MSB post about The Pack/Cobalt is the fact they are acting like Cobalt isn’t allowed to feel something is sexual harassment because ‘they don’t feel it is.’ They can totally disagree but her feeling what happened is should not be scorned like they are doing. It is her game, her feelings. She can absolutely ban someone for something she feels is out of her bounds of acceptable. Otherwise, more power to them for doing what they want. They have their place of outlet that is their safe place.

So, they are basically picking and choosing who to ban without properly enforcing their own rules. I don’t care if they ban for whatever reason (justified or not). Its the not equally enforcing their rules. All of Ghost’s posts have been barely veiled personal attacks. What he comes off as to me is one of those super Gossips ‘I can’t tell you who but…’ Then proceeds to tell the gossip in a bit of a vendictive way.

All I got from that log is ‘WoD is no consent on anything so my deciding Sophia is throwing a party is okay because it is to introduce the big bads. I don’t need to give any details because SURPRISE stuff!’
WoD has a lot about secrecy and taking away freedoms on an IC level but, on every WoD game I’ve tried, it has never been forced on someone in the sort of way they weren’t even asked if they would do a thing that could end up with plot stuff.
I’m all for /some/ stuff happening without the say so of the player but you don’t need to completely hide stuff from the player. There is ‘Would you be okay with doing Y thing so I can do some plot things that might not be light?’ You’re not giving them details, you’re not taking the surprise away. You’re letting them do what their character would do. /ASKING/ Sophia if she could throw a party is not ‘giving away the plot’. It is allowing you and her to work out what would have made sense for Sophia to do and not take her autonomy away. It’s not ‘fun’ if you force someone into doing a thing you want done so you can make your plot go.
To be fair, I’m transparent about all STing I do. Like, what I do is well known even if the details of how people get to the plot/scene end are not. I don’t plan my scenes beyond ‘X needs to be the result and everyone involved should have a moment to shine.’ With the occasional ‘You need to fail X thing so a certain aspect of this story can become apparent.’ peppered in.
PS. I am also not big on the big secrecy of stuff on an OOC level. I would rather know at least the very basics of an intended story being told (X thing is what is involved in Y plot) so that I am not putting my character who can’t swim in the middle of the ocean without a boat or life jacket.

Holy moley. I haven’t seen someone have a meltdown that big in a while. I skimmed as lot of it because it had a lot of repeating of the exact same thing. If being an ‘adult’ is losing it that bad over a post and game, I’ll stick with being a ‘child’, thanks.

Much belatedly, I do agree that people should stop going to msb and stirring up stuff. From my reading it is basically giving them the ammo to claim they were in the right and made the right decisions. They are basically claiming everyone who left are meanies.

This is petty and harping of me but… I /still/ am very bothered that jomomo or whatever the name is got to fire personal attacks at everyone leaving/banned but has not faced any consequences. By the standard Derp and Gany have set, jomomjo should have been insta-banned. The comment made in the ethics post was well beyond what most of the banned/formerly banned people said and did. Some reacted very badly but I chalk that up to emotions on high/anger being the primary feeling. Yet jomomomomo has faced nothing.

Thanks to a bunch of hard work on Apostate’s part, he has made code fixes so that cg is actually working again! Yay! What this means is that we are going to be able to open the game to OCs again!But, going forward and in order to have the time and space to make OCs fit well within the game’s story, we aren’t leaving OC creation on indefinitely. The idea is to open up a short window where we will accept OC applications for a two week time period. After that time period passes, OCs will be restricted again and staff will take the time to go through applications to ensure thematic adherence as well as solid story integration.
Given how much attention we intend to pay to OC applications, these will take longer to process than roster applications but we think the end result will be worth the effort and ask for your patience. Expect up to a month turn around on OC applications depending on how many we receive. In the future, we intend to announce a window to submit rosters if you are an org leader but for this round, we are only looking at OCs.
The next OC creation window will open on August 1st and close on August 15th.

@KarmaBum Outside of what you guys have said I don’t really know anything about Macha. If I’ve interacted with her in any form I’ve not been aware of it and if I have and she tried to do be bad I likely didn’t even notice. I just stop talking/playing with people I am not comfortable with or I feel like I am bothering them. If I stopped talking to someone the latter is the most likely thing that happened. It is hard to make me uncomfortable.
I’ve already said my thoughts on the others. Except ghost. He just gives me the vibe he likes creating drama while pretending he isn’t out to do just that.

Atharia
Welcome to Atharia. A world where magic is commonplace and there are 4 known kingdoms. The mortals angered one of the Gods, Larthin, who decides to take ‘time’ from each mortal as retaliation and some of the mortals strive to appease him. There is a fanatic religious cult that works against the mortals. There is royalty, nobility, meddlesome Gods, exploration. The exploration involves finding ruins or mythical creatures (which may not necessarily be exactly like RL’s mythical but are heavily based on them) or discovering new lands or kingdoms. There are Children of Gods that have herculean tasks they must complete. Marriages tend towards being political and it is, should both parties agree it is okay, okay to have a Consort (love spouse) that is all about love. It is not uncommon for the Gods to meddle in the lives of the mortals be it to make their lives worse or better.
OOC: Atharia is a high fantasy MUSH that uses PennMUSH with a heavily modified version of FS3. Everyone has the ability to use some sort of magic. What we have as possible things to do: Play the social games (events, slice of life RP), political games (there are different kingdoms, political marriages), exploration, scholarly endeavors, religious focus. We also have a roster system and player CG that has generators in almost all the rooms. There is no preference to whether you take a roster, use the generators, or neither of those. The purpose is to make the point of entry as easy as possible.
An important note is that Atharia is a casual game. Sometimes scenes for plots and over all can come in rapid succession, sometimes it could takes a couple weeks or so before another scene happens. We’re more interested in being inclusive and telling stories everyone can enjoy over ‘getting plots out quickly’ or something. The majority of plots on Atharia will be 1 to 2 scenes long, some times more. The plots with more than 1-5 scenes, at most, are typically ones that will involve player focus.

- Children of Gods - Any but keep in mind that if you want to be Ossian or Mataya’s you need to come in with a partner or work with existing players that do not have a Child and want one. Ossian and Mataya will always have the same number of children.

- People from Santua

- Clergy - Any God as there are not many active clergy members.
- Courtesans - Courtesan or Debutante. They are social gurus and a branch of the clergy.
- Titled People - People who hold positions of power, noble or commoner (noble house land holders, Sages, Knights, Baronets, Archbishops, Heirs, any other possibilities missed)
- Other - Anything else that appeals.
There are some NPCs that can be adopted (+news adopting named npcs or https://atharia.vertinext.com/index.php?title=Game_news:Adopting_Named_NPCs) pre-created characters (rosters) that can be claimed (+roster and +help roster). Staff can always be contacted to discuss character ideas and a roster or NPC you wish to claim.

Atharia and its Changes
So, after feed back from my player base. Their thoughts were well thought out and helpful to what they think of Atharia. Over all they seem to enjoy how I GM and most of Atharia’s theme stuff. Courtesans being the social mavens, ‘titled positions (Knight - combat, Sage - intellect, and Baronet - social)’ for commoners to aspire to earn. The ability to take over positions held by PCs (with discussion and RP with players involved) and NPCs alike. The players themselves being able to find the ‘undiscovered Gods’ and being ‘Children of Gods’ with herculean tasks to become a God themselves. Basically, they seem to like how I strive to make all types of characters feel important to the over all story of the game. I also make it very clear that no ‘enemy’ on Atharia needs to stay that way.
However, there were some major theme things they didn’t like. 1 being the time loop, 2 being not having a ‘tangible’ enemy. So, I am currently working on editing out time loop stuff from the theme and adding a ‘real’ enemies to the game. One is a council of religious fanatics that want to rule the world in a way /they/ think the Gods want them too. Another is more geared towards each kingdom.
This ‘kingdom enemy’ is another kingdom each of the 4 main kingdoms need to ‘win’ over or go to war with or whatever other solution players can think of. So, each of the 4 PC kingdoms would have an NPC kingdom that they need to ‘solve’ in one way or another. While all players of all the PC kingdoms can be involved in the ‘solving’ of the NPC kingdoms the ones the ‘enemy’ kingdom is ‘set up for’ would be in charge of ‘winning’ the kingdom over. I hope that makes sense.
I am still working on updating the theme info to reflect some of these changes. The ‘enemy kingdoms’ are not yet worked into theme anywhere, beyond hints dropped of them being there, due to them having not being revealed yet.
I wouldn’t mind thoughts from people on what other info would be useful to have and how theme stuff sounds. Some of ‘The Story’ is not quite completed, just 1 section (A World Reborn), because I am not 100% on if I like that the people split into 4 kingdoms because they couldn’t decide who should be the next Emperor and made big fight about it.

I stopped giving any thought to MSB besides when someone mentions it and the once in a while curious if they are actually following their own rules. So far, it doesn’t seem like it. The stuff with mojomojo was never addressed and when… Solstice (I think it was) questioned what was safe to post and expressed not understanding, Derp basically accused of shit-stirring when nothing about the phrasing indicated that. The exact same thing he did to Sunny when it was uncalled for.
If they didn’t make a big hub-bub about all the people who did similar just a few days before mojobo did a person attack, it wouldn’t bother me so much. Especially since they made quite a big deal about ‘no personal attacks’ and made the responses very public.
If even slightly questioning the ‘staff’ at MSB is grounds for accusing of trying to make trouble is going to be the norm, I don’t foresee returning, at all. This is what basically killed my mild desires to potentially return to MSB because it /was/ starting to seem like they were going to let bygones be bygones and follow their own rules.

I have been pondering MSB and the blow up a bit today since it was brought back to my brain with the recent dramas.
I don’t think it is bad they want to change the tone of MSB. I think the method they went about it was awful and the fact they basically ignored the many people who objected to Derp’s being made admin. The complaints I saw about him being promoted were well thought out and expressed in a reasonable way. By the majority. He is showing exactly why so many of us are not comfortable with his position by how he is handling everything as it is. Instant accusations of trouble stirring when there is no intention too, dismissing pretty much any attempts to express disagreements, getting mad because he has to explain the same thing repeatedly because people aren’t understanding, etc. The ban hammer slamming down on people for doing what exactly they have been doing during the life of MSB was baffling too.
Over all, I don’t care how people run their own thing as long as they are upfront and give a period for people to to assimilate to the changes. They wasn’t exactly offered by MSB. Like? If someone wants to ban a person for ‘not being the right fit’ for a game, go for it. Same for trying to make bits that don’t fit their ideas of games, whatever. IF someone wants to run their game a specific way and ban for X reason, reasonable or not, more power to them. However, I am not likely to join certain games/places when it comes to stuff that I can’t just accept and roll with (even if I don’t agree).
Those have just been the thoughts rolling in my little brain today after the current blow up.
I hope MSB gets their personal ‘utopia’ that they want to create. I won’t be part of it because there is a lot of things on how they are handling things and past things that have been done by current ‘staff’ that I can’t ignore like I do for a lot of things that I don’t necessarily agree with or like but can accept.

I think I am just going to try not to let my curiosity get the better of me and completely ignore MSB. It seems like looking there just annoys me. Besides, everyone I like, as far as I know, has left MSB in displeasure or loss of interest in the both good and bad of MSB (mostly bad there now) an BMD.
