I just want to play a fun game with fun people and think happy thoughts for once, whyyyyyyyyyy do things work out this way

I just realized where sheâs getting her whole âmagical familiesâ, and likely her villain (âLady Albanyâ) from.
Here is a basic summary of Mark Millarâs âThe Magic Orderâ comic book:
Beyond the veils of space and time, there are monsters wildly out of our collective imaginations loose and threatening reality. They are combated by a power group of wizards known as The Magic Order, a collective of various magician families sworn to protect the regular masses. Between being stage magicians and battling Eldritch Abominations, their operations are largely not unlike a magical mafia.Which stands to reason that a mob war be on the horizon.
It soon happens, as Madame Albany of the Albany family makes her move against the Moonstones, the family currently heading the Order, by assassinating various powerful figures with the help of a mysterious being known only as âThe Venetian.â Her goal? To obtain a powerful tome under the Moonstonesâ possession named The Orichalcum, a book of the darkest spells of history and the only thing in existence that could theoretically bring the dead back to life. Now the Moonstones have to fight back against Albany and ensure that the Orichalcum doesnât fall into the hands of someone as wicked as her.
An adaptation is being considered to be helmed by James Wan of Saw and Aquaman fame.
lol.
A rare Mark Millar book I actually like, but I wouldnât trust her to copy the plot word for word, much less adapt anything.

@Wizz if youâve met fun people and you guys are having fun, then you might as well enjoy. And maybe if things blow up to a level that you donât like, you can hang out on a new place.

100%. Iâm not planning on bailing yet, Iâll keep setting up contact off-game and will keep playing as long as itâs feasible I guess, haha.

Fair enough. This was my ENTIRE notes file for Sophia: Itâs spammy AF:
Sophiaâs Social Media Tag: @HedgicianSophia has two dots in Thaumaturgy. And she has one dot in talent. Her talent is that she can study the ways other magicians use there spells. Eight people may light something on fire, but. They may use eight different spells to do so. Sophâs talent is that she can correlate the similarites and shave the differences, and sometimes come up with a more efficient or less wellspring intensive method.
How to use: Talented - Gain +1 dot on spellwork rolls related to your talent
How to use: Thaumaturgy - Gain 4 spells on the fly per storyDorm Desc: Knowledge - 309:
Sophia has at least had the room long enough to have unpacked. Though, despite being incredibly tidy, thereâs not much personality at first glance. Itâs a double, and the halves are cleanly delineated. The right side is entirely empty and bare. The left, full but impersonal, save for the details one might find if they were to pay close attention to the spines of the books that fill the shelves along one entire side of the room, and then across its corner to the door. Within reach of the shelves is a double bed, neatly made with white linens and ample pillows in an array of colors and patterns. Beneath the window on her side is a desk, clean at the top except for a large canister full of multi-hued pen options, a small personal journal atop a larger legal pad, and a sleek laptop. Next to the desk, right up against the center line that marks Sophiaâs space from that of a future room-mate is a mini-fridge with small freezer atop - because ice cream. And sitting atop it is a toaster, and electric kettle, and a french press, next to a ceramic jar with a bamboo lid and scoop, likely holding the coffee sheâd said is available.Knowledge Kid - Sophiaâs magical specialty is Knowledge track. Her entrance exam was completed to dorm satisfaction in a record time, making her a minor legend, though itâs not something she mentions in general. She just tests well is all. Sheâs the libraryâs representative to student government, serving as secretary and keeping track of the minutes. Most knowledge kids know her as the girl you talk to about getting things done for the dorms and Knowledge branch.
Knowledge Specialties: Magical Theory and Spell Crafting
Sophia does not creates brand new spells or anything. At least not yet. She just studies the THEORIES of magic. She watches how spells in different specialties and hedge practices get to the same place by differing paths. She then studies those paths to find the roots that actually find the connections. And she uses those base connections to make the casting more well-spring effiecient and a little easier. Sheâs trying to figure out how to lower the risk of nifflers, in what tiny, small contributions sheâs able.
The string theory of magical interconnections is definitely the topic of Sophâs year 2 thesis.
Her year three project will be actually working to design a series of spells that crosses all magical domains/hedge varietals/specialties that all have the same outcome, but customized to be as low draw as possible via each route. Likely, that spell will be something along the lines of helping an individual find the right book in any library that can get as close to the searcherâs need of information that exists upon the shelves.Barbie Cult: Brakebillâs Advanced Research Baselines (and) Informational Experimentation

Waiting for Wizard to log in, catch up, and give a ruling.
[11:34]
Sophia wants to use the 'team of five thing combined with the three round to prepare thing to cast a spell of 'true sight/revelation, if thatâs allowable?
Sophia says, âAnd my +1 was in my non-magic roll bonuse from Sunny at the zombie bite scene way back in the day.â
Sophia says, â3 casters with same spell same time would be +3 to casting. 5 casters would be +5 to it. 3 rounds prep time is another +3. If anyone has some leadership to toss the way of Sophiaâs plan, that might also be useful. The least. Thatâs what the helpfiles said a while ago. It has been a minute since I read them, they may have changed?âFuture Maddie/Conrad Bioluminescent Party Pose - If Lake ever gets unfrozen:
Sophia got the same party invite as everyone got. She figured out the puzzle easily. The puzzle was the simple part. The hard part was deciding if she was or wasnât going. Itâs been a long fucking weekend after the longest summer of her life - and itâs only Saturday. Eventually, though. She goes. There are bigger and more important things to be doing than getting wasted surrounded by pretty people and prettier lights. But. Sheâs still making plans on how best to do any of what needs to be done. She could use a reason to do less over-thinking, and to not miss the moments of joy in the momentâs in between the massive piles of bullshit with which she doesnât yet have answers at either side of the moment - past and future.Christ. Itâs a pity you didnât keep that page conversation. It sounds like a banger.
I can ask if the guy who taught Sophia runes still has it. If so⌠Iâll see if heâll re-send it my way, should you actually still care after all of the above.

<PM> (to Sophia) Calliope (Cal) says, âIâd need to ST a scene such as thatâ
<PM> (to Calliope) Sophia (sophie) says, âThatâs why weâre inviting you?â
<PM> (to Conrad[Web], Leto<53m>, Sophia) Wizard says, âSo, as an aside, do you guys know OOCly that Mason, Madison, and Sunset are literally in a scene to find a cursebreaker?â
<PM> (to Conrad[Web], Leto<54m>, Wizard) Sophia (sophie) says, âNope. Once Sophia handed out the info of what was happening, I figured other folks would take their interests and run with them, or not give a heck and not do things. Whatever other people are or arenât doing arenât my business. This is just what Leto and Sophia are trying, while others are doing their own things. Conrad is here because heâs their text message breadcrumbs.â
<PM> (to Conrad[Web], Leto<55m>, Sophia) Wizard says, âNeither Calliope nor Wizard can enter scene 58. We werenât invited.â
<PM> (to Conrad[Web], Leto<56m>, Wizard) Sophia (sophie) says, âYes. Thatâs why we paged you, to see if you wished to be, so that if you did - we could add you. Was trying to respect your time and capacity.â
<PM> (to Conrad[Web], Leto<57m>, Sophia) Wizard says, âWell Idk how you could run this scene with an ST Ă°ÂÂÂâ
<PM> (to Conrad[Web], Leto<59m>, Wizard) Sophia (sophie) says, âAll that has ICâly happened so far is Leto and Sophia talking. Sophia just now fell asleep. Then we paged you, because obviously we need a storyteller. This is us saying we need a storyteller, and asking if you have time now, or if we need to pick it up later. This is us inviting you and asking you to be involved.â
<PM> (to Sophia) Wizard says, âI appreciate you wanting to protect your mental space from plots and put limits. I gotta put limits and boundaries for my mental space too. This morning was too draining for me to continue with this side plot. Like I said earlier, you finish it how you wanna finish it. Iâm not going to be involved.â<Chat> Sophia (@Jenn) says, âI want to, SO badly. But I think if Soph goes looking for a cabin in the woods before she goes to get herself to a healer⌠Sheâs gonna get yelled at. So. No one die. But if youâre injured enough to end up in the bed next to her at the clinic, sheâs in for that.â
<Chat> Calliope (@chookitypok) says, âItâs not dangerous. We already turned off the booby traps/wards from last scene.â
<Chat> Calliope (@chookitypok) says, âAnd we figured out the password to turn it all off.â
<Chat> Calliope (@chookitypok) says, âThere are also NPC healers who can fix stuff. The PCs we have arenât the only ones.â
<Chat> Sophia (@Jenn) says, âWhatâs the fun of a solveable curse if thereâs not plot, though? But. Yes. If needed, NPCâs will do.â
<Chat> Calliope (@chookitypok) says, âUh, your curse is healed isnât it? Leto did his thing.â
<Chat> Calliope (@chookitypok) says, âThe cabin also isnât a curse. IT was wards.â
<Chat> Sophia (@Jenn) says, âI mean. Leto got her out of hell. There are still injuries, unless weâre ret-conning the whole thing?â
<Chat> Calliope (@chookitypok) says, âItâs your plot.â
<Chat> Calliope (@chookitypok) says, âSo itâs your decision on how it goes.â

%% You can pose again in scene 124. 3-per pose order is in effect.
<PM> (to Leto<2h>, Wizard) Sophia (sophie) says, âOk. Thatâs not what heâd told us earlier just today in pages. I will change that in the future. Thanks for saying something!â<FS3 Rolls> <FS3> Sophia rolls Composure: Success (8 5 4 3 2)

Sophia has pitched an idea.

She could use a reason to do less over-thinking, and to not miss the moments of joy in the momentâs in between the massive piles of bullshit with which she doesnât yet have answers at either side of the moment - past and future. -

âI am an RL SA survivor.â
Wanting every dick in the room.
Throwing hissifits when things donât go exactly how she wants them.
⌠Dear god, I think I know who this is.
If she ran a WoD MU* back in the late 90s/early 2000s where she had a PC in every Sphere who wasnât officially the leader, but was fucking/involved with/de facto the leader, then itâs certain.
Wow. Now that is a blast from the past.
I can ask if the guy who taught Sophia runes still has it. If so⌠Iâll see if heâll re-send it my way, should you actually still care after all of the above.
I find myself morbidly curious, yes.

Was nudged by the head staffer to make a character, was busy at the time, and said that. Was nudged again and again. Eventually carved out some time to put together a character, but didnât do the application correctly as I donât really understand the theme.
Said that and that I needed help to understand it. Wasnât really given any explicit direction, then told exactly what I needed to do. Adjusted my sheet according to the rules at the time, resubmitted then the rules changed again so I would have to change the concept again. Was told my choices were all wrong and weird, but did I still want to make a character? Said I didnât really get the theme and didnât have time to, but good luck with the game. Looks popular.
Replies were much shorter now, with one-word answers. Woke up in the morning to find the password changed and my mostly-done character was now a roster character, mostly edited to suit what they wanted.
None of this is a surprise.

the app looks a lot better
i paged you some changes iâd like to see this time.
also, the difference between years 1-3 isnât the stats. itâs knowledge of spells. which is reflected in the sample grimoire on the wiki.

Ahhh thanks!
I honestly donât think I know enough about the source material to really get all this, or what means what.
ââ Today at 20:48
itâs fine
DukeWhisky â Today at 20:48
But good luck with the game! Well done on getting it launched, made and people RPing on it
â â Today at 20:48
so youâre not finishing the app then?
okay

I just donât feel comfortable enough with what I know as a player to be able to answer the questions
Let alone know where to start with the RP
ââ Today at 20:51
okay.
itâs all good.

Thanks and good luck! Honestly big congrats on launching. Big step -
@STD Iâm pretty sure Iâve heard her mention or have been told that she did used to run a WoD game. I only have experience with her on other games, one now closed, and I quikly noped out of playing with her cause her style was abrasive to me.
-
She posted an ad on the other place and with her username there (chibichibi) I knew exactly who she was from some old WoD encounters. I donât think Iâve experienced her as a game runner prior to this but she did have a thread on the other place for awhile about putting together a MtA game before it fell off.
-
To be fair you just described at least three people I can vaguely recall. Yikes.

I would be super pissed if a PC I made (even if I didnât finish it!) was made a roster without my consent or approval. Thatâs so rude.
-
@DrQuinn I⌠have not seen this before.
In one sense, he was pretty clear he was dropping. But still, it isnât the brainspace place of the management. Itâs the person. To take that work and outright steal it?
Thatâs just one of the most disgusting things Iâve ever heard of, and no context can really make this OK. This person should never be running a game. Ever. Anywhere.
-
@DrQuinn Yeah it kind of felt like, violating? I donât really know how to describe it since I had 0 commitment to the place, so wasnât like a character I invested any real time into.
But still was my concept, a simple âhey do you mind if I use them to make a rosterâ would have sufficed to know my opinion on the matter.
