Suspected Superhero Creeping Or Something

FWIW none of the bans in question (or out of question since tek’s became a tangential thing) seem unjustified to me at least insofar as ‘the game is better without these people’. Though I’m also kinda curious who this random Scott Summers is if they are entirely new entity in these dramatics.

This is just my opinion. Opinion. Not right. Not wrong. Just a thought in my own mind. Nothing to say your thoughts are wrong.
I feel like when people say ‘many people have told me’ and they don’t want to talk about it; it decreases the effectiveness of those willing to voice it.
(Note I don’t play these games and have nothing personally invested here)
If I tell you something, I don’t want to be championed for. If I want to be championed for, then I would be willing to let you talk about it. If you are not given that and still bringing it up in a public place – you ARE talking about it. There is a chance that my trust that you’d keep my worries between us is now broken.
If I do have the gumption to say: Hey this happened. It makes it seem like I might just be ‘dogpiling’ and doing it to back up the point of my friend. Is that fair? No. Is it considered? Yes.
Also, part of the issue I got with DWOPP is that they would do stuff like that. They would say hey avoid X because I’ve heard xyz about them. However, they were championing for people and just letting me know. This is not a helpful thing, this is a manipulative tactic. It might not come from a bad place, but it becomes suspect. It’s a tactic the abusers use.
I also feel like ‘lots of people said this’ causes some people (and sometimes the people that need to hear it with the power to do something) to tune out with ‘Oh this again’. Which means it makes it harder for me to come to them with my concerns as well, or invalidates my legit and personal issues with the person.
Also, I want to say this. Doing nothing. Saying nothing. Walking away. It’s valid choice if it’s what you as the person it happened to need to do. Not everyone has the spoons to deal with that, and it’s okay.
End note to all my words (sorry) – At the end of the day, just remember to breathe and be kind.

To make sure I got this…
One of the biggest “bring receipts” cheerleaders brought receipts that show what a creepy Chad-hater he is?
Awesome.

Look at the bright side of life! If there are fresh creeps then that means there are also fresh players coming into the hobby.

I mean, I am sure there are far more generous interpretations of what happened, but after everything is said and done it looks to me like someone took actual real life offense over pretend game events and then weaponised people’s actual real life fear of a known predator in the community to drive a “rival” off the game, possibly knowing the real identity of the person in advance and assuming that the person was disliked enough that the chance that there would be people willing to come to their defense even if the truth came out was fairly low.
That might be an incredibly cynical take but like…honestly I’ve seen shit just as petty go down in this hobby.

I have to admit that’s been my read, too.

@Wizz I had been wondering how long it would take before someone would weaponize another’s terrible reputation as a way to slander someone else’s name.
I’m sure it’s been done, but I don’t know if I had seen down with DWOPP.

Hi.
We pretty much know my feelings about DWOPP and the history there. This is why I’m a bit sad this came down this way. I know it is not personal because most (not all) don’t have an axe to grind with me. Yet, it feels a little personal and I’ll tell you why. I don’t mean this in a gaslight way, just… an explanation.
I don’t feel as they weaponized DWOPP so much as they weaponized MY trauma with it. That doesn’t sit well with me. At all. Here’s why I personally (no receipts to give it’s an opinion) think that.
The person in question had a known Ares handle that was in use before this game? Not DWOPP.
If Betsy (?) was in another relationship with someone that Rich Playboy was jealous of – it was NOT isolating behavior, like DWOPP does.
I did not see where Rich Playboy messaged B girl and said bad things about OP. Again, not a DWOPP red flag. Now was the person creepy? Yes, perhaps. Maybe. Not sure. I have opinions but they are knee jerk. It should have been hey this person has creepy behaviors and then looked into it. When you come to a forum (any forum) people are going to grab some pitchforks around some names.
I feel like (and it’s a feel not a real) that’s what might have happened. It might not even have been intentional but their own knee jerk. The problem is like stated I don’t feel like DWOPP was weaponized, but the trauma of those who he dealt with. This sits badly with me.
It’s okay if you don’t agree, it is truly just my opinion. It’s why I asked (thank you btw) for the title to be changed.
Now autumn is here - plan your pumpkin spice (gross) stuff and let’s be kind.
