I did not try going around Solace, no.
Against the rules of the game to “make” people interact with you, and going over their heads would have been just that. They didn’t want to play with me, so I’m not going to try and force somebody to participate in my plot shit. It wasn’t really an opportunity that made sense for anything past Solace.
I’m sorry you had that experience and I’m also sorry if I was in any way part of that.
I don’t think you did anything you need to apologize for! I’m sorry for not being clear enough that I don’t think anybody did anything wrong. I really really don’t. I probably shouldn’t have even said anything, it’s just the question got asked about faith stuff sticking. Sorry.

I don’t think you did anything you need to apologize for! You were sharing stuff that is good insight and is the type of thing people were asking for.
-
@IoleRae I’m glad you posted! It’s helpful to know where sticking points are.
-
@IoleRae I am glad that you shared your experience because the fact of the matter is, the orgs not being welcoming to new players is genuinely constructive criticism that we could use to improve. I personally was just sad to hear it because I’ve always wanted to RP with you more for like as long as existence and just have never made that happen, and you almost had a character in my org but then players happened. lol.
-
Not great experiences can happen without being anyone’s fault - I think Cabrera’s coming off roster, if it is the one I think came at a time I was working hard on finishing the PhD so I just had no time for Arx. I don’t think it was wrong of me to focus on my PhD! I also don’t think it is wrong of someone taking that char to not feel connected because I wasn’t around. But knowing that specifically was an issue, that is something I can do something about.
Honestly, it’s been really helpful - it is a question I’ve asked a few times in the past on MSB and not really got anywhere, this has been a fantastically useful back and forth.

No! I will apologize if I think I need to apologize, lol. You didn’t do anything wrong bringing up a thing that happened that was not great. I’d rather hear about it than not hear about it.

@Narson Glad that it was helpful and totally no hard feelings! Life snatches us away at inopertune moments. I mean there is a part of me that, soon after, I think Preston called the Crusade thing and I was like… damn. Should have stuck around.
But, at the time, like I couldn’t drum up RP with him anyway in the meantime, so just moved on.
Sometimes it do be like that and that’s the perk of a roster system.

Inspired by this thread, I made a gdoc of a starter document to turn into a FAQ because I didn’t want to do my work at my actual job.

Mood and I feel @tted as I do that all the time :')

@sao Questions I suggest, having been a baby priest:
- What is an example of a quick like two sentence prayer to be used when someone is randomly like ‘hey do a blessing’.
- Where do I live? Do they feed me? Are there servants? Do I have to live there?
- Can I just decide to do a religious event or do I need to get permission from someone, like the Archlector or Legate?
- What would a typical day’s duties look like? Also, like 3-5 ideas of things I can RP doing or say I did or reasons to be in a place.
- Which specific lore files should I read to get a basic intro grasp on theology?
- This isn’t a question, but something I didn’t know: ask leadership for funding for any Faith events or plots or projects.
That’s what comes off the top of my head. As I got to a place where I was comfortable with the theme, however, my biggest issue playing a Priest was that if you’re a garden variety Priest, ie. not a scholar or Templar or similar, there isn’t a lot… to do. You’re really on your own to come up with stuff. I do not know a solution to this, or I would have used it at the time, it is just a thing that is a barrier.
-
@sao I really thought your sig said ‘Let the challenge be -you-’ and it felt fitting.
-
@crawfish my sig is from Up the Down Staircase, by Bel Kaufman, the book that made me want to be an English teacher, until I was halfway through the teaching school program and realized being a teacher would destroy me and went to law school instead.
-
I play a priest and I appreciate this.
Granted I should KNOW stuff already playing an NPC priest.
-
Porter and I had what was a super enjoyable scene for me where we shot straw bales from the trebuchets in the Templar Yard and I totally want to do that again! With like pumpkins and things that smash messily. I def want to set up a couple of these as events this summer when college softball is over.

@sao Great book!
-
@Narson I didnt shoot a catapult at Preston’s birthday but I would 100% shoot a catapult at another event.
-
@Snackness like… a war?
-
-
@Narson feel free to use the baby catapult. It is clearly part of your present. Feel for the poor npc Templars who had to get thing down all the rectory stairs.
