Star Wars Age of Alliances: Hadrix and Cujo
-
It’s amazing how you don’t even think about a game and suddenly it gets brought up, and you’re like:
Wow, the shit I remember thinking was “okay, but sketchy” in my yesteryears and now going “Holy shit that was abusive in reflection,” and it is obviously still going on.
No one has publicly called them out for it before, and I just walked away from AOA after an attempt to come back 8-ish years ago and never looked back.
-
I am mostly mystified that this dude hasn’t been tarred and feathered on the public commons before. So to speak.
-
@sao Yes…yes, so to speak, yes…
-
@sao Kick him into the Sarlacc pit, he can spend eternity with his bestie.

(I believe Banshee used to be a coder on SerenityMUSH)
I played one character on a Firefly game, but unless I am mistaken it was Into the Black, not SerenityMUSH. I have never staffed on a Firefly game.

See also: weekly +paycheck also pulling percentages based on the skills, but the careers being in no way balanced. Some careers need 20 skills, but pay less than another that only needs 8?
Or maybe they finally fixed that.
From its conception, my code has always been balanced around a specific target number of credits earned per xp spent. This has never been true.

Banshee, Cujo’s best friend and resident lurker, has also been known to creep on the ladies from time to time, some of them my friends.
This is the first I’m hearing of this.
Also, I’m not a “resident lurker”, I just fix code–Most often without saying anything. I didn’t know anyone was expecting anything else of me.

Well, now you’ve heard of it. So what are you going to do?

This is Banshee, and before anyone takes him seriously, know that he would modify Force code on the fly because he was losing a combat scene.
Still, now that you’re here, some questions have been asked that may be answered.
- Why are @pemit and @remit not restricted when players like Hadrix use them to fake rolls?
- Why does @sweep send a staff-only alert when a player uses it?
- Why did Force Lightning change right after your Sith character lost a fight?
- Why did Force Deflect change right after your Sith character got shot?
- Why did you appear in this thread after it came out that staff set a romantic partner suspect and snooped on her messages?
- If you’re a coder, why does Cujo keep telling people he doesn’t have a coder?
-
@GF Well, I can’t prove that I didn’t do something someone accused me of, so I’m at a loss there. All I can do is welcome further enlightenment regarding those instances and check my behavior into the future. I don’t know how to provide restitution for something I don’t know existed and still do not know to whom I owe it.
-
-
@64bitjedi So, just to be clear on this, your response to being told your behavior is creepy is to say you can’t change until the people you’ve creeped out reveal themselves to you in your position of authority with all the risk that entails, and also personally instruct you in how to do better in the future?
I’ve spent the last five minutes trying to think of a profanity that encapsulates my exasperation, but nothing covers it. Never mind. Just keep on doing exactly what you’re doing, 64bitjedi. Clearly the fault rests with all your victims being too lazy to do the work of making you a better person.

If you’re a coder, why does Cujo keep telling people he doesn’t have a coder?- Because nospoof exists, and nobody has suggested to me that was happening.
- I don’t know who set that up or why.
- On March 11 2020, we posted an update to the Force Skills specific +attacks. AFTER the conclusion of the referenced scene (in which I realized it had not changed), on August 17 2020, I posted an update, stating: o +sinfo electrokinesis now reflects the intended update from March in its text. It is entirely possible I forgot to make these updates to the helpfile themselves.
This post still exists, and the timeline associated with it. The update was made after the conclusion of the scene and posted publicly for all to see. Heck, you can still see that post. +bbread 8/128. - I dont recall +force/deflect being modified, other than turning it off when we added the more robust command of +attack/deflect.
- My understanding was the claim regarding a member of staff setting Blu suspect was done by a very brief and former HeadWiz of the game. Blu and I have a history, and it is possible nobody told me about this or the spying on her private scenes because I would have responded poorly to them doing that.
- Because I don’t do everything he tells me to do.
-
@GF No, I also said, “and check my behavior into the future”.
-
-
A lot of us are more interested in knowing why nothing has been done about the multiple harassment complaints against Hadrix specifically.

I only knew of one, myself. The target of said harassment was an individual that I have never gotten along with. Other staffers were able to and did investigate it. They even made a determination. But, I recused myself because I feared I lack impartiality. With other staff tapped to handle it readily available, it seemed the respectful thing to do. Any involvement from my part would only invite further vitriol.

From its conception, my code has always been balanced around a specific target number of credits earned per xp spent. This has never been true.
Never been true, you say? Be a shame if there were convenient screenshots from someone who chose
violencepedantry to disprove this.Let’s start with Bounty Hunter, because… Boba Fett.
So you can see the payscale between December of 2015 and 2020 are (practically) the same (it actually goes down from 13,500 to 13,080, corrected in the edit). No new skills were added, so it is consistent. The standard!
How about… Courtesans?
Some skills were changed, but just the names. Nothing added. So if the code has always been balanced, why need to raise be weekly paycheck from 4,500 to 14,430?
And how about Explorers?
No skill change AT ALL, no new skills added. But they jump from 4,500 to 13,320.
So it may be balanced around a specific number of credits earned per XP spent. But it very much has not always been the case.
Edit for accuracy re: Bounty Hunter payscale.
Double edit because I can’t read, but I am leaving this up for posterity - mixed up 13 and 31. Damn me for giving myself more work here.
The third edit, because I still can’t read, explorer vs engineer

@64bitjedi At one point the target number went from being 3, to 6, yes. That’s the “ratio” number you have there.
