Star Wars Age of Alliances: Hadrix and Cujo

@Pavel Clan Kora is probably more like suspect organizations like NAMBLA. The literal old guard get all the benefits, while the newbies get nothing but exploited.
-
@Warlander Well, frankly, I don’t like the implications of that analogy any more than the brothel one.
Y’all need to work on your comparisons and analogies.
-
Today I learned that a brothel is a place for paid sex work, and not a place where people go to have sex without monetary exchange.
In light of this, my play on words using the 1984 slogan doesn’t land as perfectly as I thought. I’ll remove it.
-
@Pavel A pyramid scheme is word people are looking for. Examples include Vampire Clans; Cobra from Larry Hama’s G.I.Joe comic book; Amway; Ponzi schemes. The protection racket that Girl Scout is running in my neighborhood is a completely different thing. Which reminds me the first is coming up I’m a box short on short breads can someone front me some cash?
-
Bang Bus. Clan Kora is just one big bang Bus at this point.
-
It would be REALLY COOL if people could just find things to complain about that are not related to consensual sexual rp. Stop slut shaming. It’s 2023, can we please just leave this behind.
-
I think it’s a fair complaint that you get shut out of RP in a game unless your PC is a young woman willing to, er, “put out.”

No one said that wasn’t a valid complaint. The issue is equating ‘sex workers’ as a bad thing. THAT is the issue, not that being a man is shutting people out. Everyone here in one way or another has made issue about one of the genders blocking out another gender unless they do sex with them.

Honestly, I don’t.
I think this gets ASSUMED to be what is going on a lot more than it is actually what is going on. And if it is going on, and you are truly getting shut out of ALL RP on a game because your pc is not the sexually desirable flavor…that game is not for you. You don’t fit the team. Time to move on. What it isn’t time to do is make it seem like the people who are playing whatever fits the team are victims or bad people, or only fit because of sexual reasons. Focus on the people you know to be violating boundaries and being a problem. Do not just assume or lump together anyone who does manage to find rp.

To me this is a weird thing to defend? I get your point about not lumping people together, but as a player who has experienced this exact kind of ostracization, I think it’s perfectly right and good to critique such behavior on a game-wide level. Of course, if a game advertises itself with those kinds of themes, it’s a different story, but most places where it gets complained about are not doing that.

Ok, this is fair. I shouldn’t say it’s not a valid complaint, if it’s a valid complaint. My issue was the way it was being expressed did not = that particular complaint. There are ways to complain about being shut out of things that aren’t assuming everyone who manages to DO a thing is a ts puppet.

Well, an update. I don’t know what to say about AoA. I log in out of spite, to keep the things I built up. And AoA seems kinda dead
They put up an ad for special stormtroopers for the Sith out. While they only have one regular one, everyone else being fancy jedi. Technically there are noobs, but there doesn’t seem to be on-grid RP during the, admittedly, brief flashes I am ever on there since looking at what AoA became is kind of painful. Gone is the vibrant game, gone are the friends I made there, all which remains is… a tiny game, played by pretty much the same people over and over.
-
@Krautistanian Gotta love those special stormtroopers… I’m pretty sure the FO did the same thing just before the faction died the first time. And I suspect that one stormtrooper feels mighty lonely.
Also, Poe is STILL advertising for crew for the Ghost, including STILL wanting someone to play Jessica Pava as XO… and a Krrsantan, for whatever reason.
-
So my friend talked me into coming there to play with them. I have yet to be sex pested, there’s events and stuff going on, and besides being small and convoluted, I haven’t had much issue.
Except BOY is this game in need of catchup mechanics for new players. Badly. More XP or something. There’s a lot of dinosaurs on this game, and if you aren’t one, time to farm +noms for xp.
And do not get me started on the force user shit. Starting as a padawan is a great story, but holy shit do you suck ass at space wizardry.
-
@Popes I think they did have a program at one point that provided bonus XP for players who played with newbies, but I don’t remember if that was for +nomming newbies or just playing with them, nor do I recall if the newbies got a matching bonus. I also think that program ended a month or so ago. If I get a chance, I’ll check the bboards and see if I find anything.
Also, that gulf between dinos and newbies is by design, so don’t get your hopes up about catchup mechanics. And be careful in events run by Sumi Kora, Poe Dameron, Aryn Cortess, and any of her other alts, or by Hadrix Kora, unless you want to be used as a blaster sponge for the NPC opposition while the clique dinos do literally everything important/meaningful.
Above all else, get some armor of some kind. The way DSS is designed, it’s just about impossible to avoid getting hit in combat, even with your Dodges maxed out, so you’ll want protection. The stronger, the better.
Good luck out there.
(edited for typos and clarity)

@Warlander Honestly, one of my alts is a Mando, and I’ve gone to nearly every mando centric scene run by Hadrix or Sumi and haven’t had any issues whatsoever. Granted, it’s hard due to stat gulf to do cool shit, but I haven’t ever felt unwelcome, unwanted or useless.
And the bonus for RPing with new characters is still a thing. TBH, I just think the cgen pool needs to be bigger. Since, uh, there are PC’s out there 1ith 17k xp. Give noobs like, 5-6k, and everyone will be happier. Especially since people can retire PCs and build new ones with all their XP intact, which is insane.
-
@Popes The cgen pool absolutely does, and always has, needed to be bigger. When 80 is considered competent at a skill, most newbies are pitifully underqualified, even in what are supposed to be their areas of expertise.
As for the scenes… I hardly dare to hope for it, but maybe, just maybe, they’ve finally learned.
-
@Popes Or maybe they’ve just learned that they have to hide their bad behavior better, since the word’s out about it and the playerbase is a lot smaller than it used to be (because the word’s out about it).
Time will tell.

It’s the latter, due to being called out in the way they were.
