[Public] (o)> Polk says, “Sundance(sun) pages: At this moment, what I would like is for you to unwind your involvement here on a staff level, and return to just being a player as Ned. And to let me take over paying for everything, without you being involved OOCly anymore.”
[Public] (o)> Polk says, “She can speak up for herself if she was not seroius.”
[Public] (o)> Polk says, “No action has been taken yet.”
[Public] Riko says, “WHA=!”
[Public] (o)> Polk says, “Ambrosia has full backups. Phantasmavore owns the domain. I’m completely dispensible.”
[Public] Cedar says, “Wait, Polk pays for everything? Thank you, Polk”
[Public] (o)> Polk says, “I gave Sundance full access to back up the website months ago.”
[Public] Caroline says, “So you’re really shutting the game down?”
[Public] (o)> Polk says, “Unless she changes her mind, she has kicked me out.”
[Public] (o)> Polk says, “It’s her game.”
[Public] (o)> Polk says, “She also called me ‘crazy’ and untrustworthy, you see.”
[Public] Caroline says, “If you’re going to do that, I’d like to make sure I have contact details from people I know here.”
[Public] Caroline says, “One person in particular is ill, and I’d like to be able to know that I can check up on them if I can’t contact them here.”
[Public] (o)> Polk says, “That’s Sundance’s call, whether I am permitted to continue hosting the game.”
[Public] (o)> Polk says, “But she doesn’t seem interested in speaking up.”
[Public] (o)> Polk says, “She could publicly give me a vote of confidence and we could move on.”
[Public] Tak says, “Friday the 13th is in 2 more days.”
[Public] (o)> Polk says, “I promised Sundance I’d host the game as long as she wanted me to.”
[Public] (o)> Polk says, “No matter what people said or did to me here. I upheld that until she told me to get lost.”
[Public] Sundance says, “I never told you to get lost.”
[Public] Sundance says, “This is what I said: You paged Polk with ‘At this moment, what I would like is for you to unwind your involvement here on a staff level, and return to just being a player as Ned. And to let me take over paying for everything, without you being involved OOCly anymore.’”
[Public] (o)> Polk says, “Okay.”
[Public] (o)> Polk says, “my OOC involvement in the game ends now.”
[Public] (o)> Polk says, “Bye.”
[Public] Sundance says, “Then: You paged Polk with ‘What I’d like is for you to overcome your anger at me right now, and put the other players here first. And I want you to stay here as a player. But I also need you to help me transition servers in a way that doesn’t negatively affect the others. I’m asking you to do that for me as a favor for old time’s sake. You know I’ve stood up for you in the past. It’s okay to be angry at me now. But let’s not hurt the others here.’.”Following which, the game immediately died.

@Pacha Well if his response to being asked to step back was to shut an entire game down with no chance for players to decomp or anything (who knows how long it’ll be down) sounds like Crazy and Untrustworthy are pretty spot on.

That was my gut reaction, but my old age has taught me not to judge people too harshly when I don’t know the facts. So I will do my best to reserve judgment for now.

Hello folks.
I’m Siren, over at Liberation MUSH. We’re all doing our best to get the game back up and running. I don’t have a timeline for when it will be back up and running, but it’s a top priority for us.
I will try to update here as best I can, so folks are in the know. I’m sorry for folks who have lost touch with friends, and I mean it when I say we’re working very hard to get us back online.

tbf i recall sundance being warned numerous times about polk back in the MSB thread. she’s definitely right when she said in that log that she defended him a whole lot!

It just struck me…
A thriving community springs up around the sole source of an increasingly rare resource, presided over by an influential female figure. However, behind the scenes, a less popular and well-known figure secretly controls access to this resource, and a power struggle ensues. The unknown figure begins implementing a series of embargoes, blocking access to the resource unless the leading female figure publically validates and acknowledges their control.
Is this the story of Liberation MUSH, or the opening act of Mad Max 3: Beyond Thunderdome?

It’s funny. From when the game opened, people kept accusing me of being a VASpider, making myself indispensable in order to be unremovable.
But behind the scenes I proved the opposite. When Sundance micromanaged me in WtA, I handed it back to her. When Sundance didn’t want me running MtA, I tried handing it to Lysistrata, and then eventually gave it to Sundance once she hired Reverie and Griffin to run Wampyre and Shifter.
And the server was always under everyone else’s watch. I gave Ambrosia full access not just to the servers, but to the DNS on AWS via an IAM account, to ensure that I was entirely dispensible.
I told her tonight, if you think I’m crazy, if you think I’m untrustworthy, you can be rid of me in a moment.
She declared she wanted me gone. I gave her three, four chances to take it back. She didn’t. So I removed myself from having any OOC role with the game.
It was the only viable option. It was always her game, and she showed me the door. So I left.

@Polk Oh yeah and Phan owns the domain. I was always just a guy helping out as the backstop. From before the game opened.

@Polk You done messed up man. Best you can do is think about what you did, realize it was wrong, apologize, and hope that folks accept it.
No one argues your right to host/pay for the game or not, but just don’t take your ball and go home when it puts out 100+ others.

It would have been inappropriate for me to ignore her reasonable request that I leave her game.
