@Testament I think there is a down the rabbit hole for one particularly notorious role player, but I can’t remember who.

@Testament said in A Constructive Arx Thread:
or just go full Keemstar villain arc and do toss-away videos on mush drama
I look forward to you randomly showing up, shouting about people I don’t care about, when I reach the end of my friends’ Snapchat stories, any day now.

Broadly, I think just about any premise makes for good content if the video is edited properly and the information being delivered is accurate with limited editorializing. Hell, if I can watch a whole-ass 2 hours of video about the evolution of line systems at Disney World when I have never even been, I’m sure just about anything can find an audience.
Charisma and editing skills go a long way.

@Pavel LET’S GET RIIIIIIIGHT INTO THE NEWS
@mietze said in A Constructive Arx Thread:
I’ll be honest, unless it was a panel of all the people involved 20 years later or whatever, the idea of someone trying to profit (vs just blabbing on a message board) off of their hot take on stuff really kind of gives me the creeps. Especially if they bring in people’s real lives into it.
After following the YouTube commentary channels for years, and I can tell you this is exactly how most of those creators make money, by profiting off reacting to what other people have said online and avoiding copyright issues by reacting to it and saying just enough that it’s considered a transformative work. And by that, just really means “If I say enough commenting about it, it’s actually my own work”
Which is why, if I ever were to do something, it’d probably require far too much research in order to give due justice, such as from a holistic approach. I remember trying to use the Wayback Machine a year or so ago, because I was doing some work into 'If I was going to do it, how would I" and realizing that many of the mush related sites had barely any record of existing now. Which means actual historical documentation so much harder to do.
For better or worse, the majority of mush history being lost to time largely prevents any kind of in-depth retrospective, which is what I’d prefer to do. Creating drama content would be if I was just exceedingly petty. I save that for my videos mocking video game console warring(which yes, is still a thing in 2024).

@Testament I didn’t say it’s not allowed. I just said I personally find it creepy.
For many reasons, which I started to name but nobody needs to hear that shit so I backspaced.
-
@mietze I do believe it’s something that should be recorded and documented properly, and show the good and bad to it. Dunno if it’ll be by me(probably not), because losing history on anything I don’t believe is a good thing.
It’s probably where I get my obsession with preserving physical media as we slowly and steadily march into a digitalized world where if something is deleted it’s lost forever.

I want to know if Ask Tyrval would be hosted by Aleksei or someone else.
-
@dvoraen Revolving hosts as people get fed up with Tyrval

Every now and then I get a strange and achy nostalgia for arx. Game was such a vibe. I doubt it’s as strong for me as it is for players who were around the whole eight years, but it really defined a particular moment in time for me.

@Artemis There’s a group of us that’s adapting DnD rules into a post Second Reckoning campaign. One friend is doing a small module to apply to Arx and I’m creating a longer campiagn that’ll probably take place five years after putting Azazel back into his box.
Will it be the same? Nah.
Will it be fun? Probably.
