D.H. Peligro, of the Dead Kennedys.
It’d be super great if 2022 could stop taking drummers from my favorite bands, thanks.
God damn.
Right? Between this and Taylor Hawkins…
Some of my favorite bands have had enough turnover that I’m not all that worried, but, like… if someone could go check on Demetra Plakas and Brian Chase and Rick Allen now, that’d be great.

@GF oh no

-
@Roz Yep. Just saw this. The only Batman I recognize.
-
@Roz Wow, I had no idea he was even sick. We met him at a Con a few years ago and he was one of the kindest people I have ever met. This is really sad.
-
@Roz These don’t usually affect me but god damn this one gets the eyes watering :C
-
This one’s probably kinda niche and 82 isn’t exactly young, but Nik Turner? Oof
-
@SpaceKhomeini No more niche than Gallagher.
-
@GF No one should be sad to see that right wing nut gone.
-
@DrQuinn He was the first stand-up comic my mother ever shared with me. I have a lot of happy memories of picking up his specials on VHS from the rental shop next door to the grocery store and watching them with her, both of us laughing ourselves silly. It sucks that he’s not the guy I remembered him being or thought he was, but even so, the good memories are as real of your bad ones.

Hey, I was born in 82. I’m already aware that I’m one foot in the grave as it is.
-
Jesus Christ I was born in '78 and all this time I kept envisioning you as older than me.
I’m going to go drink my metamucil and take my teeth out now, fucking Hell.

If it makes you feel any better, that guy for me is Bill Cosby.
-
@Arkandel It doesn’t, but I totally get it. I have it in me to still be furious at Cosby because I found out about his bullshit while he was still alive. I can be mad at live people (and can hold grudges for much longer than I can remember what the grudge was even about). Gallagher is dead, so I can’t make myself be mad at him even having read that list of the horrible shit he said. I can only feel sad as I try to integrate the new information into my understanding of his legacy.
-
@GF There’s also something to be said for the difference, however slight, between someone saying and believing something horrendous vs doing something horrendous.
If Cosby’s bullshit came out after his death, it would still have a stronger impact in my view because it was something he did. The same with Jimmy Saville, for the UK audience.
-
@Pavel It’s a mixed bag, though.
Arguably no one is going to be more inclined to rape women because of what Cosby did.
But there might be people who feel encouraged to be bigots because a comedian normalized racism, homophobia, etc and brought together like-minded crowds so they feel more comfortable among their own tribe.
