I wish I knew what to do to make this game fun for me. Not confident enough with lore to have an OC. Not creative enough with keeping up a roster. Need to try and be more active when all I want is someone to write missives along with.
Edit: I found more words.
-
@moth That’s a feel a definitely relate to. And no, not blaming anyone, it just happens.
-
I wish I could find convince myself to be active. My alt (yeah I got one) is kinda out there, but not really. I feel like I don’t know what to do with the Faith with Esme now that I’ve joined it. DO NOT REGRET JOINING. It was super IC for her, but a lot of her cool ‘connections’ have sort of drifted. I’m not sure what to do with her.
I think I’m just waiting for the next chapter or something to spark. Maybe the new job will ease my RL stress and give my creativity back.
To everyone though.
-
@RightMeow once I manage to exist again for longer than five minute messenger checks maybe I can work with you & Esme on that. >.>

This is me:
-
Every time I tried to come back, I tried to catch up with what happened and with all the new systems and back away slowly. Then the next time I try again it’s even worse, and I realize it will never magically get simpler, stuff will just keep piling on…
-
I gave this my usual 24 hour rule and it still bothers me, even if it’s pretty inconsequential: firstimpressions that aren’t actually first impressions but some vague commentary about activity. I’m certain it’s not done with malice, and I’m going to take that xp where I can get it, but after I’ve arranged and just rp’d a group scene for a few hours, ‘where has this person been’ makes me feel really crappy and a bit irritated. That’s what was gleaned about my character in that /whole scene/? Is my rp really that lackluster? I mean, I shouldn’t read that much into it, I know, but meh.
Like, I’m doing my best and already feel bad/guilty that I can’t be around as much as I used to, and stuff like that just makes me feel those feels more. Again, I’m absolutely certain it wasn’t meant as a dig or to elicit those feelings, but it kinda did.

I don’t know if it helps, but my general opinion of those kinds of firstimpressions is that the person writing them is just XP poaching. And they’re up there with the RS hunters.

It does help, and should be what I focus on instead of letting it get into my feels for sure.

I know it’s almost certainly not the spirit that it was meant in, but I would absolutely take spitful glee in reading it as ‘where has this person been all my life oh my god they are amazing’ and be like ‘yes I am amazing’.
-
@Tori maybe it really WAS intended as “where has this person been all my life?” But I don’t have all the context, obvs
If it wasn’t, it should have been.
-
@Tori I know that I for one also want to know where you’ve been all my life!!!
-
Tighter caps on the number of First Impressions and RS claims (not receiving) as it is a “how much time have I been online” method of XP vs. furthering a character’s goals or storytelling. To balance out, loosen the cap perhaps on the Vote XP. Although I’m sure we’ve all been guilty of getting to the 6th vote and going - ummm uhhhh that person!
Reviewing FIs hurts my quality auditing brain as I go - but how is that an FI about the character or the scene.

I used to straight-up report people I felt were using particularly the RS system to XP poach. Sometimes I felt like a vigilante.

You’re my favorite vigilante.

I’ve said it before, but declining to validate RS claims for undeserving scenes brings me joy. I also won’t give firstimpressions until I actually… have one. So I often don’t return those, either.

Absolutely. It’s especially frustrating when you come across a RS or a FI from someone who you didn’t even interact with. The good example of this is when you’re in a large scene with a lot of people and you’re just randomly getting RS’s from people that, yes, were in the same room as you, but you didn’t talk towards or have any kind of action towards.
I understand that it’s just extra RP for folks, and maybe I’m just being old and shaking my cane at things, but it means so much more when you get one from one person that talks about how that interaction went, and not just “met x at y and did z. good person”.
-
@Testament You still get the xp even if you don’t validate the claim! Profit without rewarding bad behavior.
-
Whenever I get firstimpressions for running an event so like… someone is talking about some eulogy I gave, I don’t do a firstimpression because I think my legit firstimpression as Aureth would be “Who?”
