Star Wars Age of Alliances: Hadrix and Cujo

@Arethusa And don’t forget that if you don’t log in for X amount of time (30 days? I can’t remember how long they set) you lose your ships, weapons, Vendor ownerships, etc.

@Arethusa Did the events say only Kora types can go? I would go to scenes to get rp that are not my thing if they are open even if the focus is specific people. I don’t know who Discordia is or anything and only loosely following this thread. Is she someone who has shown to be one of the bad people on the game? I try not to paint all staff with the same brush even if they staff on the same game.
Kora events are almost always exclusive to Koras, or their few non-Kora friends. It’s a highly elitist and exclusionary group (go figure, with who the players are). Unless you’re a hot female, then they make an effort to bring you in because Kora is basically a big brothel.
Getting anything on this game sounds complex. I assume the reason for limited ships relates to trying to get people to rp together. I don’t know if that is true. Though, Getting attached doesn’t necessarily mean ‘physical’ things. I have seem people invest in the characters stories and the people around them. I know I have stuck around on a game for people I enjoy talking to/telling the stories with. It sounds like it is a lot of hard work invested into achieving anything on this game, though. So, I don’t entirely blame some people for clinging to their character despite everything said about the place.
Ships aren’t limited. Cool ships are. Everything of value is hoarded, including good ships (fast, good for cargo, prestigious), leaving crap for the average player. At least that’s been the case, a whole lot of ships have probably been recycled with all the bannings and exodus.
-
@crawfish They’re terrifying. Do not click unless you want to see a bunch of worms exploding out of a mantis.
-
Confirming that the rarer ships of departed individuals were scooped immediately by staff alts and Koras who know staff alts.
To perhaps no one’s surprise, the only things left for the rest of the player base are table scraps. This is far from the first time it’s happened. It won’t be the last unless AoA dies beforehand, which is looking like a very real possibility considering their active player base has been reduced by around 2/3rds.

As I said before, denigrating sex work is no bueno.
-
@SolarFlare I’ve probably seen it! It’s horrible. thank you for the share!
ETA: yep!
-
@Pavel Is anyone denigrating sex work, or are they denigrating an insular cluster of dudes who apparently only have interest in women if those women can be paid to be sexually available to them?
-
@GF I’d say that describing such an insular group of people as a brothel counts as a denigrating remark against such establishments, yes.
-
@Pavel Clan Kora is probably more like suspect organizations like NAMBLA. The literal old guard get all the benefits, while the newbies get nothing but exploited.
-
@Warlander Well, frankly, I don’t like the implications of that analogy any more than the brothel one.
Y’all need to work on your comparisons and analogies.
-
Today I learned that a brothel is a place for paid sex work, and not a place where people go to have sex without monetary exchange.
In light of this, my play on words using the 1984 slogan doesn’t land as perfectly as I thought. I’ll remove it.
-
@Pavel A pyramid scheme is word people are looking for. Examples include Vampire Clans; Cobra from Larry Hama’s G.I.Joe comic book; Amway; Ponzi schemes. The protection racket that Girl Scout is running in my neighborhood is a completely different thing. Which reminds me the first is coming up I’m a box short on short breads can someone front me some cash?
-
Bang Bus. Clan Kora is just one big bang Bus at this point.
-
It would be REALLY COOL if people could just find things to complain about that are not related to consensual sexual rp. Stop slut shaming. It’s 2023, can we please just leave this behind.
-
I think it’s a fair complaint that you get shut out of RP in a game unless your PC is a young woman willing to, er, “put out.”

No one said that wasn’t a valid complaint. The issue is equating ‘sex workers’ as a bad thing. THAT is the issue, not that being a man is shutting people out. Everyone here in one way or another has made issue about one of the genders blocking out another gender unless they do sex with them.

Honestly, I don’t.
I think this gets ASSUMED to be what is going on a lot more than it is actually what is going on. And if it is going on, and you are truly getting shut out of ALL RP on a game because your pc is not the sexually desirable flavor…that game is not for you. You don’t fit the team. Time to move on. What it isn’t time to do is make it seem like the people who are playing whatever fits the team are victims or bad people, or only fit because of sexual reasons. Focus on the people you know to be violating boundaries and being a problem. Do not just assume or lump together anyone who does manage to find rp.

To me this is a weird thing to defend? I get your point about not lumping people together, but as a player who has experienced this exact kind of ostracization, I think it’s perfectly right and good to critique such behavior on a game-wide level. Of course, if a game advertises itself with those kinds of themes, it’s a different story, but most places where it gets complained about are not doing that.
