It’s not only deeply unethical, at least with my particular code of ethics; it’s mindbendingly fuckin’ stupid. What is even the point? If you wanna read 'em because you’re creepy, why post them?
Now that you mention it, you cannot convince me that @inuki is not reading the private scenes players are engaging in on their game.
Not a lot to read, then.
Reading RP others are doing is weird to me. I don’t even like reading published logs.
-
@Pavel Generally I don’t read logs, but I will peruse for mentions.

I love reading logs. And following other people’s character development. It’s like… why I’m here. And when I’m not allowed to do that…
…I don’t! Because I’m not a weird little power-mad gremlin.

I personally wish people would write an abstract at the start of their logs.
-
Oh, I would love a tl;dr synopsis of every scene. Give me a watered down version. And make the explanation the length of a Tweet.
-
@Testament Isn’t that what the scene summary is for?

I’m available to peer review logs before publication.
-
@DrQuinn Sure, but explaining a scene like a Tweet just sounds funnier to me.

yes you do, you LIKE
-
@hellfrog You just broke Braum’s heart. You monster.
-
@shit-piss-love The modern version of the staffer DARK stalking, I guess.
-
@Pavel The entire thing was a nightmare from start to finish. If your background wasn’t being revised constantly, it was your stats or your advantages or…
I meant to jump into this thread earlier, but I had to mull over what I wanted to say.
You know when you should feel anger, but it’s just a kind of lingering sickness? Like being stood up by Patrick Bateman.
-
@somasatori I provided an annotated bibliography and just like in grad school, I was “making up nonsense” and “wasting precious research money”
-
@Roz You’re not wrong. It was a threat and it remains a threat until there is disclosure.
The “why” of the threat, however, is a bit more interesting.
Let’s say that you, and by “you” I mean in a pretend situation where I am talking to someone named Roz on a messageboard about this unrelated fictitious scenario, actually stood to lose a lot if something this weird fell under professional scrutiny.
“Why are you revising the private exchange between two former people playing… magicians? What is roleplaying?”
This is my suspicion, but given the hasty rush in and out of the hospital for (I forget exactly what, it’s still posted on the bboards) exhaustion/stress/burnout/whatever, which was then blamed on said player…
That doesn’t look good, either. It sorta looks to me like, uh, something I’d pull out of my ass because I was terrified and trying not to show it.
sighs Sorry.
I know you already know.
It was just a really bad, bad, bad, experience. Like booking a vacation abroad and finding yourself in a civil war. >.<
-
@Serafine I honestly have no idea what you’re trying to say here. That Inuki posted the logs because of…professional scrutiny? What?
-
@Roz Well, let me see.
If you were a famous heart surgeon and also a serial killer, and someone knew and had evidence, you stand to lose quite a bit.
Turning the dial on hyperbole down to a 3, this is the behavior of someone who is doing to someone else what they would themselves do: assuming the worst and acting accordingly.
LIke sock-puppeting PCs and humiliating their players after you’ve banned them for absolute nonsense, this looks like the behavior of someone who (in their mind) is trying to take down a threat because they feel they have something material to lose.
For my part, I suddenly understand Barbara Pym on a deeper level.
