RE: MU Peeves Thread
Peeve. I’m feeling left behind by this hobby. I’m discouraged that it feels like in order to play on any of the games where my friends play, I’d have to compromise my comfort and place my trust in people who… I haven’t experienced being all that cool. And I think I feel it even more because for a minute, I had a relatively active little rp bubble before folks moved on to the next thing.

RE: Concordia Thread
I’m just going to be real with you all. I put in a request letting them know I felt awkward about the gods being white, and my non-white noble house worshipping a white patron god. And you know what? They were like, ‘good lookin out, this is on our list of things to review.’ And it made me feel immediately more comfortable.
I don’t think this beef in the comments is in the spirit of the game runners.

Man, I miss fighting with higher class reductive trolls like Derp who actually had the substantive background to make these arguments for real.

RE: MU Peeves Thread
I genuinely do not enjoy running events. Don’t enjoy going to them, either. I like intimate rp, 1:1, 1:2, 1:3. And someday I won’t feel guilty about that. #affirmations

RE: The Magicians
@Gashlycrumb I lean more towards the grad school approach, and think magic school can be fun.

RE: The Magicians
@bear_necessities Magic systems can be done. It is known. I wouldn’t call them sustainable on large-scale games per se, or ones that don’t cap their players. I miss how old school Marvel games approached powers where there’s just a reasonable narrative scope that requires the consent and cooperation of the player characters who might be impacted. But I might just be burnt out on crunchy game mechanics. Systems should serve the story, not the other way around.

RE: The Magicians
@bear_necessities I was under the impression that the first attempt never even ran, and the second was just a direct copy & paste of their wiki. I assume without permission given the individual involved.
It was a lot of fun for two weeks of those three weeks. Can’t speak to the longevity of the theme. It’s just an rp vacation I took once. Met somebody real weird. But also made some new friends I still rp with to this day!

@Jax said in Games we want, but will almost certainly never have:
@Jennkryst Battletech Lords and Ladies is as important as the mechs. Probably more so.
@helvetica said in Games we want, but will almost certainly never have:
a game where I get to pilot a mech suit like in Iron Widow/Heavenly Tyrant
whispers Iron Widow/Heavenly Tyrant is Lords and Ladies

You right, 2025. Time to lower my expectations. This is my lane, I’ll be right here in it.

RE: TV series, news, recommendations
@Sillylily Slayers, the Buffyverse audiobook by Amber Benson, was pretty effing entertaining, imo. It was kinda like listening to an olde-timey radio show, but make it Buffy. ~If anybody is looking for something in that realm.

RE: Unspeakables: The Politics Thread 2024
Temporarily took down most of my professional online presence a few weeks ago out of an abundance of caution, and felt like a coward doing so. This week, professors at the school have started to show up on lists for teaching radical ideology. Today I fielded my first otherwise innocuous request for a past syllabus from a former student who absolutely fits the bill.
