To those of us mostly in the WOD/COFD sphere, this is kind of like when Sundancer told us Polk wasn’t really that bad.

Seeing cool new characters that look like they might be fun to RP with but not wanting to instantly PM them and come off creepy/overexcited/stalkery/etc.

So even if @De-Villefort is right and all genres except for sci-fi and cyberpunk are filled with nothing but bad terrible people…

So what?

Sometimes it’s fun to play the villain. Do you think that any actor that gets the role of a villainous type absolutely hates their job while doing so? Do you think Alan Rickman or Christopher Lee cried in anguish every morning they woke up before going off to play their various famous villainous roles?

I agree that there shouldn’t be any limits and I never understood why staff are against it.

Whatever the PCs can, NPCs can do better. Bring out that near endgame monster/villain/situation you weren’t sure you’d get to use if the players get too ‘powerful’.

I think I mostly avoided comic games after that but Covid was like 50 years ago and time blends together.

From what little I know about Ruby, we all know that she’s picking LC for two very certain assets that appeal to Ruby’s target audience and nothing else.

I don’t care if all character stats are available for everyone.

But leave histories/backgrounds private. I enjoy a slower burn for learning about PCs and them learning about my PC.

@Ominous To me, a system is some sort of mechanics ruling for abilities/powers/etc. that gives some fairness/stability to the game.

It could be as simple as ‘any time you want to do something requiring a roll, roll a D6 and if you get a 5 or 6 you succeed’. Or it could be something as complex as I hear that FATAL system.

What’s your preference and why?

Does it matter on which ‘genre/game/etc’ it is?

Like, you’d play on a freeform vampire game but never a freeform werewolf game?

This question/curiosity came about in the superhero and Star Wars threads. (Some) people said freeform superhero is great but a freeform Star Wars game is ICK?

This is exactly the game I was talking about. It was mentioned in that dumpster fire game thread and basically was snubbed by person/people because it DOESN’T have mechanics.

I discovered the MU world like “only” 10 years ago.

I still don’t know the difference between MUSH, MUX, etc.
