I was going to say I haven’t had any issues with Darkly, but I don’t seem to have issues no matter what I switch to. The closest I got was logging out and immediately trying to click a menu, but it was resolved by refreshing.
It appears to be a known bug, though, and might have to do with plugins. The only ‘fixes’ I’ve seen suggested are switching between themes, pinpointing a potential plugin issue, and rebuilding.
Which is to say, I’m not sure anyone actually knows how to fix it.
-
@Floof I had it working only the very first time I changed back to the default skin. Now, all of them are busted.
I have changed my bookmark to /unread as a solution for now. Honestly, I’ve gotten used to the forum being goofy.
-
Double post to add that this seems to come and go. If I close my browser tab in my phone and reopen, the menu works (sometimes).
-
I’m looking into it. Given there are alternatives it’s not a super high priority at present.
-
Is there a setting to change so instead of x days ago, there is a timestamp for when something was posted? I looked but did not see it.
-
@Jennkryst I do know that different skins can display timestamps different ways, and that you can get the exact time by hovering over the relative time where it shows up generally. But I know nothing about an actual setting somewhere.
-
@Roz Cool, I can wait to get home to grab the timestamps, then. Thanks!

If you hover your mouse over the thing, it does give a timestamp. I don’t use mobile, so I can’t tell you anything about that particular experience I’m afraid.
-
@Pavel It’s fine. I got the timestamps on my computer, for the over/under bet on how long it would take me to bring up Mummy in the latest CoD/WoD game discussion. Thanks!

I saw the mention of having a spoiler tag plugin and I would definitely love that!!
I looked tho and apparently an up-to-date one is hard to find. This one looks like it won’t show spoiler text in post previews, which is nice, but it looks like it might no longer be working. This one is I think still working, but shows spoiler text in post previews. Better than nothing, though, probs. Possible there’s more out there!
-
@Roz I like the one that is, naturally, out of date. I’ll keep an eye out for it to add post-update.

Any chance there’s some kind of plugin to prevent user avatars from animating unless hovered over? (Not ever would also be acceptable, but I love Discord’s hey-you-can-still-look-when-you-want solution.) I don’t really want to hide people’s avatars entirely on my screen, or to prevent people doing what brings them joy, but having things moving all over the place makes it really hard for me to read stuff.
-
@Ren idk if there is, but I’m gonna unanimate until we figure it out.
-
@Ren I’m not sure if there is, but I do believe we can stop the uploading of gifs.
-
Thank you, and I’m sorry for the trouble!
-
I took a look and I didn’t see any mods or plugins that would cause avatars to function that way.
I didn’t see a setting that would limit gif uploads, either. I DID see a setting that will convert all uploaded avatars to png going forward, which MIGHT help with that in the future, so I’ve toggled that and will reach out to existing accounts asking them to de-animate.
-
Not sure about this one.
This seems like something more suitably solved at the browser level.
Ublock and most other adblockers will permit a user to block any avatars causing trouble. The argument of accessibility versus functionality is a tricky one.

Damn hipster admin.
-
@Solstice Not an option for those browsing at work.
But blocking users with animated gifs works.
