When someone asked for help, you showed exactly whom you are, though.
Yeah – a guy who minded his own business until you started calling random people antisemites when you got banned.

no plans to dox anyone involved
Circling back to this, right here, this is the problem. Because you could have just posted a screenshot and people could have immediately seen whether or not the comments came from anyone affiliated with the game.

I am going to charitably interpret that request for willingly sharing a message containing antisemitic content as a mistake in some fashion. Do you plan to rephrase it or are you seriously asking that I republish a very-much hurtful message for the edification of whom, exactly?
I can’t even begin to process how my day is improved by doing so, and to what goal being achieved. Even removing the identifiers of the message means that I am being demanded to share an antisemitic message.
Repeat the sentence out loud a few times. Seriously.

@Wikibara This game was not for me. I think two of the staffers are okay human-wise, but I am not buddy buddy with anyone nor would I recommend this game to most people.
I have also seen some crass things on the Discord server. Someone joined the server, someone immediately made a poop joke about their name.
Again, I point this out to show that I am not buddies or trying to circle the wagons or whatever around the staffers. I’m definitely not an ‘apologist’.
However, it is absolutely insane to immediately credit a hateful message you received to the staffers that banned you. Maybe it did some come from shitlord on the server, maybe not. The staffers do seem to have a history of letting shitlords hang out on their game longer than they should.
Jennkyrst is right that if you truly believed that this message was someone from this game, staff or player, you should immediately have posted that shit here. Otherwise, it doesn’t have anything to do with your banning or the game.
I have seen you banned from at least a couple games now. Maybe you should look inward to change the behavior that keeps leading to this result rather than saying ‘I got banned from this game AND they’re all super racist!’

-
@Wikibara ‘can you believe the shit someone from [game] sent me?’
Possibility 1) ‘They do not play there’ big oopsy doodle apologies all around.
Possibility 2) ‘Holy shit this other person does actually play there, let us purge the bad actor’… like, tracking the bad actors is half the point of the community.

@catzilla
I don’t share hate messages anywhere or with anyone; they hurt enough when I get them, and after seeing the warm reception that I got here, it’s not exactly a shining example of open-minded folk.In thirty-ish years of the hobby, I’ve been banned twice; three times if Reno counts, although it was in the last, like, week or so of it operating, so I’m not sure if it means much. “Couple” games is two.
There’s no world where I choose to share some hate message to appease anyone, least of all this place. This is not where it belongs.
@Jennkryst
“Please, share a hate message, it means a lot to us.”Riiight.

idk this game or the people running it, but i can tell you that the description of behavior offered by who i presume to be someone on staff aligns very closely with my experience with this player from when they were banned from a different game i staffed on a few years back

It doesn’t ‘mean a lot to us’. This response is just showing that you are being disingenuous with your ‘concern’ or intent for including that you received an anti-sematic message after getting banned.
If you truly believed that someone from the server (especially if you believe it was STAFF), then why wouldn’t you share it to show others that this game is supposedly ran by racists?
Tell us WHY you included that statement otherwise?

Yes, I have seen you banned from at least two games. I’m glad we can both count.
-
@Wikibara You could easily just share the Discord name of the offender and if they happen to be here, they can defend themselves. People who are associated with RetroMUX would invariably be able to confirm whether that person plays on RetroMUX.
And you can avoid sharing racist screed while still identifying broken stairs in the community.

Bad faith is bad faith, and its starting to look like jumping to the ‘everyone is racist’ conclusion is your default approach to things.

There is no one on this forum who isn’t jaded enough to see right through your unmitigated bullshit.
I take people at their word, particularly when they explain their motivations. The original post is a little convoluted in its wording, but it does support his explanation. It could still be a lie, but I’m able to follow the logic.
The correct solution would be as @MisterBoring said, to post the username that sent the message. If it was on Discord, the name will be present on the block or ignore list.
-
@Jumpscare Plot twist: there is no random, racist message. There is no backwards logic to his wording. It’s a lie made up because he was upset. He said something unprovable – whether he has evidence he doesn’t want to share or has no evidence at all.
His claim has literally no foundation: just spitting into the wind and all of us ducked. We saw through it, but he can’t or won’t apologize for it.
It’s fine. We don’t need him to confess he’s lying. The court of public opinion has made its ruling because the defense came in slinging mud unprovoked.
This unwilling juror says: he was kicked from a game -merely because- he was not a good fit for the game. They never accused him of being abusive or mean-spirited. They kicked him because they had reason to believe he wouldn’t have left on his own and would have harshed the vibe. This is what staff is supposed to do: mediate and mitigate.
Yet he came in here looking to burn bridges that weren’t even built. It’s a bad look, Wikibara. Do better next time.

@MisterBoring said in Numetal/Retromux:
@Wikibara Let’s return to the issue then. It sounds like you weren’t writing in a way that jives with the Staff there in the way that they’d prefer, so they showed you the door. I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you, but at the same time, if they had approved you, it sounds like they’re just trying to avoid headaches all around and you’re slightly upset by it.
Sounds to me like they’re trying to “avoid headaches” by having unclear requirements for apps and going by the vibe, and then fucking with an actual person by pretending that it’s a problem with the app instead of admitting that they just don’t like @Wikibara’s eyeliner or something.
I don’t know about “slightly upset” but once upon a time a review of this sort was considered valuable information for the community.

Or it could be that staff continued to provide feedback to them which they then ignored, on repeat, until staff could not deal with it anymore and handed down a ban. It could also be that they themselves said something untoward to a staff member and got banned. It could be that they plagiarized giant portions of a known work of fiction for their backstory.
Until someone from staff or close to staff deigns to post some sort of ban message or otherwise, we won’t know the whole story.
-

It still is valuable information.
Wikibara, however, tanked their credibility a bit by throwing in the whole ‘the staff are secretly racist’ bit.
ETA: Staffers can and should show people the door that they don’t think will vibe with their game for whatever reason. Just as the players can and should leave a game they don’t vibe with for whatever reason.

@MisterBoring The ban was posted publicly:

-
@catzilla Yeah, I can see that. But I can also see just mentioning that because it was another weird part of a weird experience.
@MisterBoring Yeah, or they could have been, as they said, asking for clarification on incomprehensible feedback, or pointing out catch-22 feedback, or pointing out that they corrected as the feedback requested but the staffer is still giving the same complaint. (Indeed, I’ve been made familiar with the experience of changing what’s asked and having staffer continue to complain about the thing that isn’t there now, and of having staffer complain bitterly that I don’t just say “okay,” and do things that aren’t really possible.)

Well, based on the post before yours that you I guess didn’t read, it looks like the reasons for the ban were, and I’m sort of summarizing here:
- Overly defensive when responding to staff feedback
- Writing of such low quality that the AI question came up
- Causing staff an imbalance in their workloads due to all of their OOC activities interacting with other players.
- Begging players to help with the application, being told by the players to go ask the staffer in question, and then going deer in the headlights.
- Showing signs that they weren’t actually familiar enough with WoD to write a cohesive background.
So yeah, maybe you’re right.
