This is a standing policy with me. If a friend publishes a book, I will buy it.

Note that I didn’t say I will read it. At least one of my friends self-publishes ebooks that are very, very bad. I’ve tried three and made it through exactly none of them.

But he’s my friend, and I like him, even if I really hate his writing. So he sits in my digital library and I make a nice comment about his interesting concept while dodging any in depth discussions, and everyone is comfortable with this arrangement.

I started going to the gym and watching my calories like a hawk. Inched 5% closer to my goal weight last week. Which doesn’t sound like much, but hey, that’s like… I could be halfway there by June.

          I’d love that.

@Rucket Moved about 2 months ago and still have a few boxes waiting to get unpacked, but I partially blame our mad rush to get a garden planted for that.

Still, I feel that ‘thank god the move is over’ feel. Was it a long move or a short one? We had a cross country move about 20 months ago and nearly lost all our belongings because of a scam company. Still lost out on 7k, plus the actual cost of renting a U-Haul to go get our stuff.

But we’re good now, and I’m happy your move is settling in.

@Solstice 5% is a huge step when it comes to weight loss. That’s 1/20th of your trip. Good job!

@Corinthian Not really long. Ended up moving about 3 hours west of where I was living. Went from living in Virginia to West Virginia pretty near Pennsylvania, lol. Still though the worst of it was going up and down stairs at my old residence. When I was in my 20s that was one thing. A different thing when your age starts with a 4.

@Rucket Oh I hear that. That’s why we hired movers to begin with. Then we got hit by one of the larger moving scam companies in the country. Was a nightmare.

But at least it all had a happy ending, and a couple years later our lives have settled down in our new town. That post move destress feeling really is great, when you stop living on adrenaline and cortisol and worry.

Sending a couple of my friends IG Reels of a rendition of Careless Whisper via trombone.

I’m happy, my friends? Less so.

I’m now whistling the Careless Whisper sax riff to my cat who wants to kill me.

                              She might just kill me.

I woke up feeling so good, I think I’d better call in sick/ I need a personal trainer to help me hold my drink
I plan to be spontaneous next time we meet/I’m putting off procrastinating until next week
I’ll get onto it when I give a shit

Finally broke 300 pounds as a personal record for deadlifting in the gym and broke through the 200 poind barrier on thr bench press. I had been struggling to get past that point for over a month now.

If there’s one thing my depression is weak against, it’s lifting heavy things and putting them back down.

@RightMeow it’s what I listen to in the gym.

                                  Behold. Careless Whisper vid trombone.

Met the new neighbor today and on a whim invited her to see my kittens.

Seeing people playing happily with kittens makes me happy.

I… love middle school social studies?

I am having a mini existential crisis about the fact that I am in love with this job. I’m honestly sad it is ending?!

This is now my happiness thread gdi.

                                        Words from kids:

“Mrs, I actually learned something today.”
<after conversation about past teacher being unkind> “I mean, you are mean too, but not like mean, you’re strict and that is better.”
“This is so much more fun than normal.” (I literally lectured and they took notes?!?!)
“Mrs. Thanks for sharing your wisdom with us.” (He hunted me down in the hallway to say this and was actually serious.)

Final GPA for my Master’s degree. Considering there was a point when I lost track of how many times I dropped or failed out of undergraduate programs, I’d say this isn’t half bad.
