The possibly vain hope that someday life will settle down enough that I actually have the time and spoons to play again.
I also stay involved in things because of Ares, though I don’t think that really counts as “playing” per se.

I play every day. It’s all thanks to Ares. If it wasn’t for the web portal and async scenes, I’d likely have been forced to leave the hobby.

2 years and the occasional hot gos about some of the non fun dumpster fires from my mush time. That and occasional post from the fun dumpster fires that I miss that are still in the business.

Sometimes I like talking about this stuff, and I would tell a someone that I’ve smoked crack long before I told them about MU*s.
also a tiny guttering spark of hope that maybe one day it will be fun

Oh, I don’t know. My MU tastes have always been pretty narrow. That’s why I tend to run my own games

Schadenfreude.
It’s easier than watching keeping up with telenovelas.
Camaraderie in that I’m not the only one in the world recovering from the worst of such places/people.
Nostalgia that I’m not the only one who also had some incredibly lovely experiences with some places/people.
Confirmation I did the right thing by moving on to other hobbies.Human complexity, in short.
