Sorry to double reply: Are all the kittens the same gender? If not and not fixed an unhappy note is that they can start making/having babies as early as 4 months old. Rare that young, but can happen. -
Oof, all girls except one. I’ll prioritize finding him a home first, or just try and get him in and fixed if it’s not happening fast enough for sure. Thanks for pointing that out!
Luckily they are all extremely sweet and I know where to start asking first.

@Packrat Growler (she’s actually quite sweet!!*) was SUCH a pest for like a year after we got her. WILDLY playful. Then we got a younger cat, who gave her a nice vent for her excess energy. So what I’m saying is: have you considered ANOTHER kitten?
- As I was typing this, @Yam was looking over my shoulder saying, ‘Tez, she’s not quite sweet. Stop lying to this nice person. All morning she was just bugging me and pawing me for attention and demanding butt scritches.’
She follows me from room to room, but she doesn’t actually like being pet a good 90% of the time. She’s VERY particular. I feel she betrays the ragdoll name.

If you need to set up a go-fund-me to help with the costs, I’ll donate in a heartbeat. The more I get into the rescue world (and especially as I help build out the TNR arm of the rescue I work with), the more I learn the best way to care for our cats is to make sure they don’t make more of themselves.

@Tez I have considered it but two cats is enough for me, she will calm down as she gets older and in the meantime I have a three year old niece who visits often and loves her.

I feel like a household with more than one tortie or Calico is crazy. They have so much PERSONALITY.

Seriously. We had a calico before her, she was a very snobby, particular, and clever cat.
We lost her in spring of 2021 and about a month went by before we just finally admitted that our black cat couldn’t handle being an only cat. But holy shit, adoptable cats around here were actually hard to come by.
Finally we saw this listing at a shelter almost 2 hours away. Said she was good with other, shy cats. So we emailed the shelter, didn’t hear anything back for a week. Finally we got a bite, “can you drive down here Saturday?”
We went down there, she hopped right in the carrier when it opened up and rode patiently all the way home. Turns out she tried to bite some kid who was rough with her from the previous week’s adoption attempt but she made herself at home real fast.
Anyway, this one is a pushy, unholy terror and obsessed with me in particular. She checks all the boxes. Also, her response to thunder is to want to fight something. Much like her response to the vacuum, etc.

Yep. Tortitude is REAL.
The two torties we have right now both have it in spades, but different shades.
Alpha is 100% in your face. She will Fite at a drop of a hat. She invades your space but makes sure you know she is PERMITTING you to worship her, and the second you break her rules she will swat you. We paired her finally with one of the sweet orange girls because she needs a friend who loves her to bully.
Sierra thinks you are TRASH and should stay away from her always tyvm. Other cats rock, especially her daddy(?). She is way older than her bio age in maturity. She permits touching and pets only when she has backup.

Scrolling tiktok as one does and a video of two kittens screaming for breakfast came on.
Instantly Commander LEPT from his shelf out of kitten reach and went searching for the babies. I turned the video off quick and once he assured himself no kittens were in trouble he jumped on my lap to groom HIS kittens so they knew all was okay.
So here he is with all his girls. (Whiskey crawled into my sweater and so isn’t in the photo.

I’m so confused abt tortitude. Sif is like absurdly sweet and loving, affectionate with new people, cuddles… she does wiggle a lot especially when cuddling.
She IS very clever and has figured out how to turn the lights on and off.
