Pets!

Our cat has been limping for a few days (we recently had to move some furniture around and I think he might have knocked something over onto himself) so we finally took him to the ER. He’s a big indoor/outdoor boy and usually if he limps for a bit he gets better in a day or so if we move his stuff into a place where he doesn’t have to leap around. They had to have us do a drop-off and he was not having it.

So, no shit, but there was another cat’s TOOTH embedded in Simsim’s leg. The veterinarian said that it was very close to a tendon. They got it out, but he needs to be in a cast and cone for 4 weeks. Poor little guy. They’re having me give him buprenorphine and gabapentin for pain.

Maybe this will teach the poor thing it wants to stay safe inside.

Hitched a ride in a car (think engine, not cab) 2+ hours away from home.

A teenager left the back gate open so Willow and Opie decided to go on an adventure yesterday. Let me tell you, that was the longest, saddest hour of my life so far.
We found Willow headed back home and Opie lying in a little creek cooling off since he ran himself too hard.
They both hid under tables and behind the couch for almost a full night!

@TNP He’s got ADD so like… he doesn’t get a pass but it’s hard to stay mad at him, but also at the same time he is literally the reason they ever get out. I can’t count the number of times he’s left the front door open when taking the garbage out and Opie was like ‘Freedom? FREEDOM!’

@Cobalt I got ADD, I’ll be mad at him for you. Memory is hard but you can learn coping mechanisms and figure it out when it is something that directly impacts home security issues and something as critical as pets getting out.
Pets are family and you give a shit about them or get the fuck out.
