I’m an Uber Eats driver + carer for my grandma who has early dementia. It’s been a struggle, but I’ve been dealing. Yay me. Then yesterday, I got the dreaded covid diagnosis. Can’t work. Can’t risk being around my grandma and bills that were teetering on being paid a day or two late are now going to be a week+ in arrears. And the bank account currently has less than 1 dollar in it. Life is ‘wonderful’.

This whole thread about ‘overinflicting’ is just like… saaaammee.

I get so excited when I see people log in/pop active that I’m just like ‘omgomgomg I thought of like 5 things that might be fun to RP while you were doing sensible things like sleeping (because opposite sides of the planet) can weeeee?’ as the other person is still trying to wake up and get to a point of functioning and I’m watching this window of availability tick down to the point where I have to go to sleep and I feel like I’m being a lot extra and the bag of over caffeinated squirrels that is my brain is just like whoa you need to chill or you’re going to burn everyone out.

So as such I try NOT to be ‘that person’ that is like constantly jumping on people begging to scene the second they log in but a lot of the time I’m sitting on my hands trying SO HARD not to squirrel.

Upvoting this to say ‘I feel you’ feels so wrong on this but…

@Snackness I feel you. I don’t know where you’re at in the world but speak with your pharmacist; they might be able to provide you with some emergency pills to prevent you having to go without in the interim because even a couple of days of drop-off can definitely be harsh.

If you’ve got sick days I reckon 'take ‘em’, knock at least one concern off your plate in the short term to give yourself one less thing playing pile on. Be kind to yourself.

Thank you for the kind offer, I think at this point all I’ve got is a couple more days and maybe hopefully I can be free. Though in the interim, everyone else in my household now has it.

I did spend a few days calling pretty much all the companies I deal with and go ‘hey, you know that money you want for X bill? Well, you need to wait. Cos COVID.’ and overall it worked out ‘okay’.
