      @Jax Meeeeee.

My track record was 11 years with one character on one game.

Do we have to be actively playing the character? Because I’ve had an alt in chargen on Shadowrun: Denver for like 13 years, who is never going to get approved because staff are cowards.

… not Mummy related, so the game is safe from getting hit with THE CURSE.

@Pavel Interesting view. It never occurred to me people felt that way sometimes. I think I had Ari on Arx for 3 years, and he was taken too soon.

@Polk For me, at least, a character should be temporary - get in, tell their story, get out. Though, I’m also of the opinion that a game (and story) should have an end date in mind at its creation.

Grogu being an FC is just hilariously silly to me.

I also like how Qi’ra has been doing stuff for 40 decades. FORTY DECADES. Like goddamn, how long do humans live in the Star Wars universe?

Grogu isn’t only playable, he’s probably FINALLY in his species’ teens, so if the disregard of other policies is any indication, cue inappropriate jail-bait music

@Warlander To be fair, I think ONLY Ben was from a Ban. Which is interesting, and makes me wonder what Hadrix has on Cujo, given Ben was allowed to run the Sith, obviously, taking over from Banshee.

Player Run Plots Jan 25 2023 Maelstrom

Hey, all. We’ve got a solid month left before the time skip. We have a lot of exciting things coming down the pipeline both IC and OOC, but today I would like to draw your attention to player run plots. Rather self explanatory, these are plots run by you. They could be for your own personal storylines, cultural groups, or planets of choice.

Staff is willing to bankroll some of these plots to a certain extent; to provide IC reward based on the plot, the number of participants, and logs posted. These payouts can be divided however the GM sees fit.

                            25,000 - 1 event with 3 or more people in a wiki-posted log
65,000 - 2 events with 3 or more people in each log
100,000 - 3 events in a plot with 3+ people in each log

Here are just a few examples of the kinds of plots you can run.

                            • Bounty hunters from the Guild take down a high-profile, dangerous target.
                            • A scrapping location on Jakku has collapsed and people are trapped inside.
                            • An rich collector wants an artifact and is willing to pay handsomely.
                            • Chandrilan survivors are intercepted by pirates and need rescued.
                            • A rival smuggling group needs to be dealt with.

You can come up with all kinds of arcs based on who your character is and what groups they are a part of. Pay out is negotiable if you have an idea that you get staff-approval from. We will also be open to players running plots regarding the war between the Rebels and the Sith when we get to that.

Expect the +help file for player run plots to be updated in the coming weeks to reflect this information. If you have any questions or plot ideas, submit a +request.

Exhibit A, way too late. First time in 5 years they offer anything for running. Flashpoint? Ooops? Two events? Whoever runs first gets the money.

Anything else? Fuck you, pay out of your own pocket. They are desperate

Pulling out all the stops to retain/bring in new players. Even though all these types of rewards were suggested a million times by people such as myself and others. Only to be ignored, brushed aside, or hee-hawed at.

                              Desperate is an appropriate term.

Also looks like people are choosing to head out rather than deal with the drama/new theme.

I hadn’t logged in since I left and didn’t know these two had stood up. Good on Jax and Ax and I hope they stay far away from this sesspool and get to have fun without the anxiety AoA causes. I knew about Vega, we are friends, and had been discussing all the issues with the time skip for months before this thread hit. I suppose we kind of left together because she made her final choice when I hit my tipping point and told her I was done with Age of Kora.

Now Sumi, Hadrix, and Maelstrom are the only people who host events on the grid. Jax and to some degree myself were driving forces in the Jedi Order, especially Jax who ran plots for the group and its offshoot.

I’m sure Discordia will continue to have an alt in every sphere so she can pad her stats nom farming, having all the feats ever in existence, but never actually doing any story work herself.

Anyways, just wanted to say good on them.

@SqeakyClean Yup. I left since I got like, 2 people to a plot, and eventually just competed with Had in the end. And then, when the Time Jump was announced, I lost all will to run. I am just there to watch the fire, though I suppose I’ll leave. Was a fun five years.

I had a bunch of stuff I wanted to do. Then the time jump was announced and some other things happened. So I was just like; nah screw this, and just stopped running stuff or having any will to. I was always running up against Hads stuff anyways like you were (which were org specific mind you… except for those select few people they decided to let come on the down-low). It felt like I was putting in the time and not getting anything out of it and that there was just one faction certain people really only cared about.

@Polk Oh, yeah. Annoyed MU* wise that I basically lost two places within the same week, but well.

If anyone cares, since the thread got posted there are four newbies, Kora, and… that’s it for active people. Something like 10 players left or were banned. So… net negative.

I can confirm that the number of people that left or were banned as a result of this is at least 27.

This should be more than enough evidence for mu* staff to take this shit seriously. To take people’s desire to play in a healthy sandbox, where they are treated as human beings first, and WHO padding second, seriously.

As of a couple minutes ago aoa had roughly 26 actual players connected (actual players, not just alt count).

Star Wars MUSH had roughly 15 (again, actual players, not alt count).

This is WEEKS later, that this shift in games has been sustained. SW Mush is an ancient game with semi-functional systems and an antiquated grid. It’s an imperfect and troublesome site, from the point of view of it being a coded mush.

What it does have is a staff that has shown they actually give a shit, and understand what it means to caretake a community. AoA has lost about 40%, on average, of its players. And realistically about 75% of its active storytellers. All because its staff refused to take sexual harassment seriously.

SW1 deserves all the attention it is getting. A game’s coded systems don’t matter if that game’s culture is poisonous. And a game’s age and partial functioning can be forgiven if staff try their hardest to make it a welcoming place where people are treated well.
