In contrast to all my frustrated ranting on the Peeves board, my therapist gave my some resources about Rejection Sensitivity Disorder, how it works, and how it is a very common in women with ADHD and it has been so freaking validating. All my life, I have thought myself over sensitive and a lot of other really bad thoughts because I have hurt my own feelings over someone inflecting on a different word in a sentence than I expected.
I have spent years masking and beating myself up for these types of reactions and feeling very ashamed over crying over dumb rejections or reading too much into conversations. I thought this was something intrinsically wrong with me as a person and to find out that, actually, my gift for pattern recognition also means that I look for patterns where they don’t exist.
My brain is still fucked up but at least it’s not because I am at my core a terrible person? rofl
-
@Herja You may not need to hear it, but I’ll just go ahead and say that you’re not a terrible person.
As someone who tells himself constantly that he is a terrible and worthless person because of his own mental weight, it helps when someone else tells you otherwise.
I don’t always believe it, but it helps.

@Cobalt For me, the only positive thing that came from it, is that I filled up a clothing donation bin. To the top. xD Old clothes, but stuffed animals and other similar things.
-
I got a text at almost 1am from the lady we bought our house from telling me that she was leaving us another fridge and an upright freezer…. @.@
-
@Herja when I found out about this it was such a revelation. I’m so glad your therapist got you the goods.

It’s the little things… Like getting a scam call - in this case a Medicare scammer - and completely wasting his time and making him think he got someone who didn’t know any better by giving him totally fake info before telling him to go fuck himself.
-
I love when I can approve a kitten adoption. Especially when the foster is worried about their babies and I can gush to them about what an amazing home they are going to.
-
Uhmm.
I somehow got an A in the worst class in my entire program, the hell-class that I was seriously concerned about failing in the final semester before graduation, the class that had me in spiralling meltdown mode for two months.
I understand virtually nothing from this class, including how or why I got this grade, but fuck it. I’ll take it.
-
I got to see a show.
That is all. -

Our kiddos have been working to change a school board policy that prohibited any animals but service dogs and horses in schools. They researched, wrote letters, presented at board meetings (plural!) and weighed in on the policy rewrite itself.
Last night the board voted and today their class pet was returned to them!! A TV crew came and they were out of their mind excited. Their gasp and pure joy when they realized Noddle (bearded dragon) was back reminded me why I do love my job.

This is just a silly happy that is sort of pointless, but I’m sharing it anyways. People don’t appreciate my hair shares IRL.
I have long hair and it’s that common wavy hair. Not straight. Not curly. Sometimes frizzy. If I straighten it, it’s okay for a bit. If I’m in humidity, it’s like 20 sizes bigger, but wavy in between hair.
I finally tried the ‘viral’ you might really have curly hair video. The one where you only brush it in the shower with conditioner on. You plop your hair in a shirt. Then you diffuse your hair upside down with product in it (side note - I tend to hate the crunchy feeling - it didn’t do that - bonus happy). My dude… the curls. There are so many. It’s like I put a perm in it and all I did was plop, product, and diffuse.
I know. I know. Silly but I’m over here like OMG look at this.
It brought me a happy. Thank you for reading.
Also, remember to be kind to people.

@RightMeow Watch out: I hear it’s a slippery slope into the world of curly girl hair products and two shelves full of bottles.
I’m glad you found something that makes you smile.
-
@RightMeow What’s this viral video/product…? Asking for a friend.

How dare you @ me like this.
Tez is right tho. I discovered my curls at the start of the pandemic and now have…too many products.

I wanna discover my curls

Do you have frizz? Frizz is just curls waiting to be uncovered. Or just an hint of wave/texture, you’d be surprised what you can get with some coaxing.
-
@Roz I have hints of waves that edge up on curls when I air dry my hair.
-
@Snackness Congratulations! You probably have at least wavy hair, if not curly.
When 2020 lockdown hit, I was convinced by @Tat that my hair was probably wavier than I thought and decided to explore some curly techniques. The Curly Hair subreddit has some great beginner tutorials, and you can try out some stuff with really basic drug store brands. The Curly Girl Method is a particularly methodology that entirely eschews certain ingredients (sulfates in shampoos, silicones in conditioners/stylers, etc.), and suggests certain technique options. I have since moved away from following a strict CGM regimen, BUT it was a great starting place for me.
I’m not sure what videos @RightMeow has seen, but I like Manes By Mell and Gena Marie as far as vids I watch now and then. You’ll get a ton of hits, including stuff from them, by searching YT for stuff like “beginner curly hair routine.”
