@Tez Suggest that we revisit the breakdown of ‘Helping Hands’ and ‘Game Gab’.
A revisit of these two forums shows that there is a LOT of content that feels like the same sort of topics (IE, general discussion about RP and games and how they work) that is in a random one of these two forums.
It makes it hard to decide which one to post a new thread in.
I personally think the issue is that ‘Helping Hands’ doesn’t feel very inclusive of general RP chatter, so people do it in ‘Game Gab’, even though that is (from the description) meant more for specific games, as a companion to advertisements.
Maybe Helping Hands could just use a rename? RP Ruckus? Repartee? How married are you to alliteration?
-
I dunno, I think the categories are good as they are?
My discussion threads have actually been going in Rowdy mostly, because I think leaving the opportunity to get heated on the table is important, but otherwise they’d go in Helping Hands. Game Gab DOES seem like specific games.
The rename might be a helpful thing? If people are seeing that as a place to ask for help instead of a place for discussion.

I THINK YOU KNOW THE ANSWER TO THAT ONE

I definitely think Game Gab would be a good spot for such conversation, with a change to the description.
Helping Hands is very much the “how do I/should I/can I do X” spot, rather than a general chatting place.

This is pretty much the problem. The descriptions are the OPPOSITE of what you’re saying - and people seem to be interpreting the categories differently because of it.
Game Gab
Thoughts and questions about current, upcoming, and advertised games.
Helping Hands
Code, Theme, Policies, Game Design – Conversation about how to do things better in gaming. Keep it friendly.
I don’t feel strongly about the solution, I’d just like it to be clear - both from descriptions and names - where general RPish conversation goes when it’s NOT Rowdy.

Yes. That’s why I said “with a change of description.”

I just throw threads wherever and hope for the best. Staff can move them if they feel like it!
… I jest. Mostly. I did guess for that one thread I started, though.

I don’t want to make a new thread so I am hijacking this to say:
I LOVE that when I upvote a little green box appears. I don’t accidentally remove my upvote and then have to upvote again because I did want to upvote, I just forgot I already had.

For reals, though. How do you do this?
-
@KarmaBum if I had to guess it has to do with “copy permalink” on the 3 dots beside reply, quote & upvote, and then linking it somewhere else?
-
@bear_necessities I’ve done it by simply quoting a thing, and copy-pasting that quote into another thread/forum.

@Testament Oh, I know. I play Arx and I get annoyed that it’s in every thread.
-
@Pavel Well, that didn’t do it.
-
@KarmaBum Might be an admin thing? I dunno.
