Star Wars Age of Alliances: Hadrix and Cujo

@Wizz ‘and actively a serious burden for Cujo or his besties’
-
@Wizz Oh, I know. I have no illusion of ever changing his mind about anything. I just think there’s value in asking any dudebro who reads this thread why they think anyone cares if AoA lives or dies instead of us caring about how AoA’s staff treats people.
-
@GF When I read their website, keeping the game alive and healthy was a huge, recurring theme.
Join us, get big, have fun.
People there are just trained to think that way about the game. They’re probably convinced it’s altruistic to do so.
-
We should actively want games that have reached this level of terribleness to die. Because a year or two from now, people who haven’t read this thread will be looking for a Star Wars game, and will stumble upon this cesspool.
Spoiler alert: This is what Cujo and Co are hoping will happen. So it’s important to shine as bright a light as possible on their shittiness, which I think you all did pretty magnificently.
Thank you everyone who came forward with personal stories and corroborating testimony!

@DarthSmegma This is probably me splitting hairs, but I feel like people in general tend to think of a game as something separate from the people who compose a game. In that sense, my only concern is that people should be safe from predators. If that means AoA dies right now, then that’s fine with me. If it means a populist uprising manages to throw out all the predators and creates a new staff regime that actually protects players, and the game lasts another forty years, then that’s also fine with me. AoA is nothing to me either way.

@Sammich I was high as hell tbh

Cujo’s post…
@RedShoes said in Star Wars Age of Alliances: Hadrix and Cujo:
Two of them wanted someone banned from the game who they believed was a sexual harasser.
This is simply not true. No one ever requested to ban him. The two (now former) staff wanted Hadrix removed from staff, not banned.
@RedShoes said in Star Wars Age of Alliances: Hadrix and Cujo:
The situations that were used as evidence happened over a year ago. It was two claims of evidence. One was from 2018, the other from last year.
This is also not true. Several people who are not related to these two “situations” have said they reported sexual harassment by Hadrix (or other players) to Cujo and that Cujo did nothing. Other victims didn’t report because, clearly, reporting does nothing. Cujo’s insistence that it was ‘just two times from some malcontents’ is disingenuous.
@RedShoes said in Star Wars Age of Alliances: Hadrix and Cujo:
Being on Staff is not a promotion, if anything it’s additional workload x10 what you might expect.
Being on staff also allows you to see hidden locations, IP addresses, purchases, travel, +sheets, gear, backgrounds, alts, suspect pages, and all manner of other things that a questionable player should not have access to. That is the entire point of this thread. Questionable players, cheats, harassers, should not be staff.
@RedShoes said in Star Wars Age of Alliances: Hadrix and Cujo:
All sexual harassment claims are taken seriously though, and if deemed valid, and actively a serious burden, then expect that player to get banned.
This line is exactly why I made the first post of this thread. This line is why I caused trouble. When it comes from a ‘popular’ player, there are no levels of harassment that Cujo will agree are an active burden. Especially considering he is pretending that much of the harassment I originally referenced, and which other people have added since, does not exist.
Silencing a number of accounts (nuking alts and @newpassing main characters) just before he made his explanation post is telling. All the silenced players have some flimsy explanation for being nuked/newpassed, but it’s not the same explanation across the board, and for some people, there is no explanation at all. Some attempt has been made to call this type of character removal ‘standard,’ but it is unprecedented, especially on this scale, and for this suspiciously select group of players.
At no point have Hadrix or Cujo issued an apology to the community for any hurt caused, accepted responsibility, communicated an intention toward meaningful change, or expressed remorse for even unintentional harm.
I stand by the first post that I made. I said what I said.

@RedShoes said in Star Wars Age of Alliances: Hadrix and Cujo:
And icing to the cake, Cujo finally speaks on game.
…
We have had about 3 major cases of this in the past 8 years, and those 3 cases were dealt with swiftly once the proper evidence was ruled upon.
- Cujo**
This moment, alone, should tell everyone his claims are bullshit. I’ve been on large games where I’ve had three sexual harassment incidents against me, personally, in one week (hello, IRE, you also have major problems). Three over eight years simply isn’t a believable number, and it tells me that either people are afraid to come forward (obviously true from this thread) or that if they do, the cases are dismissed by and large out of hand (obviously also true from this thread).
I’m not sure I’d even expect three cases in eight years from a moderate-sized, 50+ person company, let alone a game full of MUers.

For someone who’s accused of not being able to keep his hands to himself - good to know he’s in a relationship.

Hi. Zephyr previously of and now fired from AoA here. I didn’t want to post all about this initially, but I feel like a few things need to be corrected, and shared.
@64bitjedi said in Star Wars Age of Alliances: Hadrix and Cujo:
The incident of discussion was overseen by Cujo and Zephyr, and my understanding after the ruling was that it was done to their satisfaction. Subsequent incidents were not brought to my attention until this thread was sent my way.
I’m sorry, what? When? I have no recollection of ever investigating or clearing you of anything.
When the people who will defend others leave a space, that space gets worse.
I wholeheartedly agree that when people who object to harassment leave the game it makes the game worse. You know full well that I spent years advocating for players who were harassed, only to be met with the repeated refrain of “It was just jokes.” or similar excuses. No amount of evidence, and no number of complaints was ever enough.
As I said to Cujo after he dismissed me by @mail at 1:40 in the morning when he hoped I was already gone for the night, it ceases to be a joke when a player says stop. After that point it becomes harassment. “It’s just a joke” is what bullies say to justify their behavior if anyone dares call them out. The fact that this alone seems to not be understood by the headwiz of AoA is a problem. Not the only one, clearly, but one of them.
Cujo has also recently been claiming he banned someone who harassed one of my characters as some shining example of how he does take it seriously, except that’s not what actually happened. He didn’t ban the guy after I showed Cujo the weird incident. He banned the guy some time later when the player in question posted “This game sucks and I’m leaving, but not for a month so come say goodbye.” to one of the boards. Cujo showed him the door that night. It wasn’t for me, or because I was bothered by the guy, it was because he shat on the game out in the open, and Cujo got mad.
Banshee, you were there for a lot of this. You knew. You complained about some of these predatory people personally because you were stuck with them in your group. Pretending you don’t know is dishonest and you know it.
People need to know there is someone they can report this stuff to.
Yep. They sure do.
Which is why it’s funny that when I stood up and said I don’t think the person we’ve gotten so many complaints about for years should be given access to staff powers and all that it entails, I was kicked off of staff, and then off the game as a whole. Within a week my entire roster of characters has been nuked except my primary, which has been wiped of everything, moved to the retired characters lounge, and had her password changed, and the same was done to people who were known to be my friends. I never indicated to him I was leaving, so what precisely motivated this? Could it be that again Cujo got mad? Why would anyone trust staff if a member of staff can’t stand up and say this is wrong without Cujo going scorched earth on them, and their friends?
Additionally I’m also hearing a whole slew of lies about why I was remove as an admin. First it was that I stole code, then apparently I demanded Cujo give me the game itself, and then I demanded a copy of the game for my own use, then it was because I was too angry about Hadrix and I was a safety risk. It would be hilarious if the person saying this weren’t the headwiz of the game who is now concocting stories because he realizes that in a fit he removed someone who not only tried to stop harassment, but was also harassed, and maybe that looks bad. It’s also funny how the alleged code theft and demands weren’t given as a reason why I was being removed from staff when he @mailed me.
Cujo cannot be trusted. Period.
Ultimately I’m not sorry that I’m gone, I’m only sorry that I didn’t just leave sooner. An optimistic part of me kept wanting to believe I could help people if I just said the right things to make Cujo understand why all of this was so wrong. He is good at sometimes appearing as though he can be rational and reasoned with, but based on everything I’ve seen here about Cujo’s previous behavior, that is clearly never going to happen because he himself is a guilty of some pretty skeevy stuff.
-
@Zephyr Thanks for coming by to clear that up. We all smelled flying monkey on the people who showed up here to try to do damage control for AoA and it’s nice to have the real scoop.
-
@Zephyr The ‘stayed staffing in place that was bad and had real ethical dodginess thinking I could help or do good in some way’ club is one with a wide and varied membership (Thinking of you SerenityMUSH and Firan), Some of the best people I know have made that mistake, it doesn’t make you feel good, but, yeah.
Sorry to see Cujo never changed, that is really…sad in so many ways. 20+ years is a long time. I guess I should go read my own forum signature again.
-
@Zephyr Did you happen to grab a copy of the @mail Cujo sent? Not that I don’t believe you - but it’d be interesting to see what he wrote in the firing.
-
I did, I have a log and screen shots of that and the entire conversation that followed.
