… consistent seasonally inappropriate attire …
Proof that Exalted is the best setting. Everybody Zerg-rushes the charm that lets you hang out in bikinis in arctic temperatures,

Someone get that No Arx, fine pic to post
-
@Pavel I do what I want.
ETA: In like the nicest way possible because I do like you.
-
@helvetica It has been requested, more than a few times, that the ‘go back to your Arx corner’ joke be allowed to die.

That’s actually the first I’ve heard of the request? I’ve never had a problem with the whole “Arx is a big game and conversation about it can be chatty so there is an Arx thread for it” thing.
(As an Arx player, I love the Don’t Arx sign.)

Okay?

lol at this point the Arx ppl have taken that joke back anyway

Well the way you dropped it made it sound like a thing everyone should have seen/noticed already or been aware of or something.

I have found that the “don’t talk about Arx” can be stifling to conversations; it’s a huge game that handles some things very differently than other games do, with lots to be dissected and talked about and learned from. But it doesn’t matter how relevant the point might be to whatever given discussion if somebody just throws up a “shut up about that” image – it can shut the conversation down.
I have not complained or requested that it stop, but I have observed the chilling effect (and skipped offering input at times to avoid getting told to shut up).
-
The only time the ‘don’t talk about Arx’ stuff is thrown out bothers me is when people are using their experiences, in a serious way, on Arx to explain their side on a matter Arx is their primary place of play and where the most of their experience is. Otherwise I just ignore it. It is not hurting anyone or ending conversations.

Except that it does give people pause before they speak, or they choose to remain silent instead.
-
I didn’t mean to cause a commotion. It amused me but I see now that it isn’t a commonly held amusement.
I apologize.
-
It does remind me back to Ye Olden Times, when games like Firan or The Reach was inundated in every single thread in some fashion on WORA/MSB/etc.
It was the game dejour, most people had some interaction with it(for good and bad, respectively).
I think it came from this whole idea that one game or another could completely hijack the topic of a thread with talk about a game that had nothing to do with the topic, even if the situation was tangential to the thread topic at hand.
Which is exactly what’s going on now.
Honestly, I’m in it for the joke, because eventually, at some point, there’s going to be the next game that’ll take over the forum’s collective consciousness to extent that someone will make a sign for that game too.
-
I’m rolling my eyes so hard rn. If anything, Merek talk hijacked this thread.
-
If you tell Merek to stop being a tool he usually goes “ok sry.” If you tell Cujo to stop being a tool he bans everyone who ever disagreed with him. Merek actually looks better here.
840+ comments around this game being a dumpster fire in various ways. Good job AOA. lol.

I can’t imagine what that’s like, especially if you dedicate enough time and emotional energy to a place and build up friendships with people while you’re there…
Oh wait.

#2 is actually surprising to me, because it’s the exact opposite of how I’ve known him on Arx, where he is notoriously paranoid about engaging in any danger. But on Arx, you can’t just remake the same character, so maybe that’s the difference?
Possibly also because he got a HUUUUUUUUGE negative OOC reaction from the Resistance that he was part of at the time for that last limb-lopping, aside from the humiliation of being shipped back to the Resistance in a box. He had been grudgingly tolerated up to that point. After that, people didn’t hesitate to say that whatever he was doing was completely idiotic.
Also, Poe killed the commando part of the original Black Squadron (the one that wasn’t just the latest Poe Cliquefest) shortly thereafter, possibly because of the trials of having Merek in it. By that time he was the only full-time member: Everyone else was flight-qualified and in an X-Wing, even if a few moonlighted as commandos if they had the chops for it.

My #1 memory of Merek on Arx was also my first time ever meeting/playing with him, in a PRP.
Everyone’s characters had been planning for a good 45 mins in scene on how to proceed, reached an agreement and then turned to go when he just “threw his cloak up” to justify some stealth rolls in the middle of a bright and sunny day (immediately after his pose and without clearing it with the GM, mind) and ran off on his own to go fight some guards, completely off task and jeopardizing the entire plan we had just discussed. That sounds like him. Merek can out LeeeeeeeeRoy LeeRoy Jenkins, with similar results. He gives himself to the Dumb Side.

The two things they have in common are hardheaded stupidity, and that it’s impossible for them to stop being tools. The difference is that Merek might actually try for a while.

It’s me, I was a person who was asking we let the NO ARX joke die. I guess @Roz just ignores me when I talk
-
I’M SORRY, clearly I missed this from MULTIPLE people, mea culpa

I’m super curious about his run as a head and torso in a galaxy far, far away.
