There is now an official Goostarion themesong, as sung by Neil Newbon himself. You’re welcome.

I MESSED EVERYTHING UP WHOOPS TIME TO SAVE SCUM
Mega spoilers:
no matter how much you love shadowheart WAIT to finish her quest in act 2 until after you go murder your way through moonrise towers, whoops, poor sad abandoned tieflings -
Whoops. Cut off Gale’s hand.
Oh well. I probably wasn’t ever gonna use him.
-
Yeaaaaaah, I messed that up too. Wasn’t willing to redo the 20ish hours over again, but felt terrible.
-
I FORTUNATELY got warned about that one and avoided it. I definitely would have been heartbroken.
-
@Roz @Solstice luckily I save often and had a save literally right before the point of no return, and had checked my journal right after.
So it isn’t too much time lost, but I was like “wait what— oh crap, let’s back up a moment…”
I also have a journal bug that gave me a heart attack. It says Halsin left me, but he really didn’t. It apparently happens if you go back to an act one area, but he actually doesn’t leave he
wont go with you if you go to an act one area -
-
@Aria He’s SO FUCKING BAD at flirting that for me it wraps back around to adorable.

I think what got me was that he was talking about nights reading in front of the fireplace with his companion and I just, like, assumed he was going on about Mystra again?
And then dialog options were like, “Gale, are you talking about your cat??”
At which pointmy brain shorted out because I was like, “Wait, IS he waxing poetic about his cat?!”
Yes. Yes, he was. It was hilarious and I kind of love Larian for generating that much of a WTF reaction from me and my character. Right until he brought up being unwashed and into it, which made it weird again.
-
@Aria after essentially not talking to Gale thru Act 1 and most of Act 2, he just the other night sat me down and told me he was in love with me. I just stared at my screen like what the fuck??? We’ve never even had a moment!
-
@bear_necessities Frankly I think this just speaks to how well they captured the heart and soul of an entitled white male.*
- Don’t come after me, Gale-lovers. I love him too.

^This. There is a whole lot of weird misogyny in the BG3 meme world that pretty much boils down to “Why don’t women like Gale, who is clearly such a NICE GUY?”
Bro. You answered your own question.
-
It’s really not hard to understand.
Astarion just want s me for my blood.
Wyll is playing hard to get.
Gale is like that old joke about lesbians: What does a lesbian bring to a second date? A U-Haul. -
No character in a video game has ever turned me off harder than Gale did in the very first scene with him.
Bro. Shut up.
-
I cut off Gale’s hand and decided that ten minutes of roll back was too much, so I lived with it.
Devs are Larian have come out to say that the companions weren’t suppose to be so goddam horny, tho. It was a bug!

After having more time with her on a second go-round, Lae’zel…
(Probably a Cold take:)
…has the most growth of any party member, and it’s depressing that she gets such a bad rap when she’s arguably the least static character, tied closely with Shadowheart. I feel like a lot of folks bench her before they get to see it.Anyhow. Generally feel like societal norms did her dirty.
-
@Solstice Lae’zel has absolutely grown on me as I’ve seen more of her plot and after their big pitch fixing the bug that @Vulgar-Boy mentioned above.
In my first playthrough, it was just her constantly saying really insulting things to me right up until she’s like, “You would slaughter a dragon and then use it to murder another dragon!! LET’S BANG.” And I was just like, “I really do not need negging from some weird Githyanki PUA, so Imma peace out and take Karlach on everything that needs fighty missions as soon as I find her, thnxbye.”
-
I really wish that bug hadn’t been in - it kinda skewed the first characters in your party into being weird and pushy. And for me, it trapped me in ‘Gale Romance Land’ because I watched his magic show. Didn’t get my rep up fast enough with the people I wanted to romance in time when I read about that bug. Still grumpy.
At least the second playthrough is going better!
-
I reached the point of no return with two characters, ended up rolling back with one character b/c getting their messed up a bunch of other plots. And then landed fast first in a romance with Astarion and was like well… I love my angsty vampire boi so ok cool.
Shadowheart still best girl.
