There’s nothing more I enjoy than dealing with MU* staff that non-subtly hate their job and start delivering pronouncements about theme as if I’m a complete fucking dumbass when this shit isn’t even written down in a game’s help files.
In fact, I’ve dealt with so many staffers like this over the years that it begs the question:
If you hate doing this so much, why are you doing it? It’s not like there’s a paycheck involved.
-
@SpaceKhomeini This is why documenting stuff is a big deal to me. The ‘common knowledge’ people always have about theme, commands, whatever is not ‘common knowledge’ to a new player, sometimes even long term players. These ‘common knowledge’ stuff are not easily remembered either. Games that do not document the important information (whatever they might consider important) are starting to become a deal breaker for me. Not there yet since it would basically have me on no games since the majority do not do the best at documenting.
-
Keeping knowledge well-documented is kind of a losing struggle for most projects and organizations I’ve seen, I guess (it’s me! I’m part of the problem!).
Our entire knowledge base at work is in a sloppy unstandardized OneNote. If we can’t get it right when we’re being paid to, well…
So I get it, I’m incredibly easygoing about a lot of stuff and this in particular. All I’d wish for is a little softpedaling the communication in a scenario where things have to be adjusted due to game systems or setting with something like this : “hey, sorry, this hasn’t been clearly documented and we’re working on it, but can you adjust your +job accordingly?”
And a little less “hey noob” tone.
Anyway, this is all rather petty. I’m petty.

Is there a link to the thematic stuff/correction you’re talking about? -

Is there a link to the thematic stuff/correction you’re talking about?Nah I’m a vaguebooking bitch.
Seriously though, I’m going to avoid naming names or places at the moment simply because I still keep getting haunted by the ghost of a certain Metro staffer which makes me paranoid. I’m going to assume someone just had a bad day (or I genuinely misread tone) and move on. The world is full of assholes and I’d rather not potentially be one more right now.
But I wanted to gripe for five seconds, about the sort of thing which has been a real peeve of mine for decades.

Ah, the curse of prior knowledge. “I know this, so everyone knows this!”

when you get one of those “RP would be fun with you sometime if you want :)” pages from someone you’ve never RPed or interacted with before and it is just
really obvious

This isn’t a MUSH peeve, really, but somebody just used a PB of a character on a teen drama I used to watch in the 2000s, where this guy played a teenager. And he’s now gotten to the point where you can use him as an ‘old man’ character.
And for a second I was like wait…that can’t be right…
And no, the actor is exactly the right age, it’s just been 20 years and we’re all old now.
-
@Third-Eye why would you personally attack me like this
-
@Third-Eye Did you know that Chace Crawford is nearly 40? My next alt.
-
@Third-Eye Last weekend my sister said to me, “Thirty years ago doesn’t mean 1970,” and I’m still a little mad.
-
@GF WOW. Time for no contact, smh, that’s so rude.
-
My kids’ new go to is “It isn’t the nineteen hundreds anymore!” and I hate it.
