I don’t think the space between gross and sanitized is “coded SA systems” or SA-content at all.

There are important stories to be told here. This is not the medium to tell them. There is plenty of space for fetish content and TS and everything in between that you can find in mushes, but there is a degree of care, empathy, and respect that needs to be brought to stories of SA that I do not trust can ever safely occur in a mush setting.

Yeah, absolutely destroy my characters. I love the writing and the play that comes from difficult situations, poor outcomes, and otherwise “bad things” that affect a PC. Especially when it creates further story and RP opportunities in the aftermath. Of course there are limits, but these are also situations and lines that are already a hard ‘no’ in any game I’m going to play - and, as has also been mentioned a few times in this thread - trust is an important factor.

I’m generally very much of the opinion that failure is more thematically interesting than success. I love a failed roll, I love a failed mission, I love the drama. That has been where I’ve found my best success as a player and learned the most about the character.

This is part of the larger issue here. There was a pervasive culture of behavior like that on the game. That “rp quirk” was symptom of sex pestery and unwanted, continued harassment that cujo let go on far too long because that was the culture of the game and he couldn’t be bothered. This player was a continued issue for the unwanted “powder blues” - among other behaviors - but had they been popular or one of cujos golden children they’d probably still be on that game. If the poster and the player are the same person then it’s rich that they would come in here to air grievances when they themselves ARE a grievance.

I’m a sucker for systems and trying to use them in different ways, even if it means running something ‘fluffy’ in a combat-heavy setting (loose example: running a race with a system built for combat). Anything that can allow people to think about or play their character in a way they hadn’t before, it allows for a fun sort of character development exercise imo.

I second this. I’ll forever be a client-first user, but web chargen has spoiled me forever for the reasons listed above.
