Can we play bug loyalists? Asking for a bunch of wierdos…
I am not going to say that you cannot.
(This is only half-joking - we fully support players taking on various roles in engaging with our world, and some of them are not in alignment with others.)
We actually think having a scientist who is outspoken in stating that rather than war, the humans should seek a way to co-exist with the insects would be a really fascinating character to play.

I don’t play Arx, but I’ve read enough of the Arx wiki to ask…
How is this scratching the Arx itch?
That Alveraxus game that just popped up on Ares is like a wish dot com version of Arx. It stole a couple of the mechanics, diced up some of the theme, and boom.

that’s, uhh, a pretty intense way to put it. they “stole” mechanics? how so?

this just in: games within the same genre share similarities.

I was given a wrongful ban on Alveraxus because my character name was used by someone on another game.
I tried to log into Alvaraxus and couldn’t. I assumed I forgot my password. I logged in as a guest and asked for a reset. I was told my IP address matched the IP for a player who was banned for excessive alts and AI misuse. I was told that I was disinvited from the game (which is a ban).
This caused me to panic and I tried to explain it wasn’t me. Dianoia/Nevermore said having the same IP was proof enough. I tried to give what information I could to prove otherwise. I worried my system was hacked or I did something wrong.
Eventually, I was told they are pretty sure it wasn’t me and reset my password.
I spoke to the head wiz Hamartia, who told me I was never banned. I was locked out for having the same character name that a banned player used another game.
It had nothing to do with my IP and there was never an IP match between me and the suspect player.
I understand the need to protect a game and staff can disinvite anyone they want. It’s their game. What I don’t understand, is why lie to me? I could have quickly, easily and safely verified my identify if I knew the truth. The different version of events I received from staff (e.g. banned, not banned) leaves me baffled.
The irony is, my character name wasn’t my first choice. I gave the same head wiz name options and he prefered that I used Estella. Then banned me for using it later.

@BeetPoet idk to me that reads more like confusion than being dishonest. When staff has to deal with something like that, especially people that do that usually have like some vpn so they have like 200 different ips you all are sorting through and just seeing a match here or there, it’s pretty easy to get mixed up. I could be wrong but I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t just be losing track of the exact reasons.
From my own experiences, even a full on IP match isn’t necessarily right because there are some ip ranges for different providers that are cycled constantly so it’s easy to have an exact match that are entirely different people too, and that’s why some really bad actors are like impossible to ban out entirely without yeeting whole providers into the sun.

@BeetPoet Stressful. Glad you were able to clear things up! I’d rather have a staff that bans than doesn’t.
