Don’t forget we moved!

Real life happy

Government jobs take FOREVER. It took almost four months for my husband to finally get his tentative job offer with the county sheriff.
-
@junipersky Seconded. Back when I was job hunting, I was interviewed for a university position and a government position. The government position went radio silent, so I took the uni position even though it meant moving to another state. And if you’ve been in the university hiring process, you know this is not a fast thing.
It was literally a month after I’d moved and started my new job that the government position got back to me with news that I was their top candidate, and did I want to come discuss details. A little over four months! Of no contact or response!
But, ahem, the happy part is that I was very happy with the job I took.
-
Yeah Four months I think is about how long it’s been! Good to know that’s like the average it seems. I’ll have to let him know.

After about 3 days of feeling very ill off and on due to adjusting to all these new meds I actually had the best home readings of various things than I have in months and feel more like myself than I have since I got my two covid infections back to back. I’m certain that I’ll continue to dip in and out energy wise but it’s nice to see the impact on the numbers.
Even declining all the $500+/mo drugs and going for the old school ones. Ngl when things didn’t seem like they were budging there were some tears this week thinking I was going to have to try and find a way but it looks like I have a reprieve, which is a huge weight lifted.

that feeling of relief when 2 people respond to your kid’s birthday party invite (was sweating that it’d just be family on saturday, though the college kids are all coming home for it) in the positive.
i think in general kid parties seem to have never really recovered post-covid, but also kaiju is so adhd and goes to a very small neighborhood school (same kids in same class since school reopened) so everyone had to deal with the adhd behavior (though he’d doing so awesome now) and my parent heart always wonders if that’s why no invites to him (my other 3 were all quirky in their ways, but at this age like every weekend there was something. But like the two moms that texted me back were like “hey they’re so excited, this is the first birthday party of the year” so also relief in maybe it’s not just us.

Having a meh week. Coming home. Sitting down (that in itself is a win) and then having furry critters on you. One snuggled in and one purring because they missed you.
-
I got approved for a cgm so I feel so cyberpunk. I’m excited though I think it may help figure out some patterns and timing so I don’t feel quite so crummy a lot of the time!

Lumpia.
I’m on the quest to learn how to make it properly. I tried today and it tastes good, but I couldn’t get the skins to brown. I used rice paper. Anyone know how to make it and have suggestions?
Should this go in another area? I’m just happy it mostly worked out since I LOVE lumpia.
-
Unsure! But there is a Recipes thread that might be able to help?

When the flip side of executive dysfunction kicks in and suddenly every task feels trivial and you just hammer through a week’s worth of roadblocks in under an hour while bopping around in your office chair to hype-up music and taking periodic dance breaks.
-
@Solstice Hey um did you get enough executive hyper-function for the whole class?
-
Holy shitballs, i have to say about almost a week in that the cgm is amazing and is already helping me a lot in trying to figure out how I can stay on top of things. I don’t want to get into too big of a detail because most people don’t want to hear it, but if you’re considering one either for medical reasons or I can certainly see why there’s going to be an otc one soon for people who want to use it for health reasons, I’m happy to talk about it with folks via PM or whatever. I’m really glad that my doctor was cooperative and that it’s frankly even more helpful than I thought it would be.

trying to learn a new trade
while training mypotatodogall at once.
edit: oops.
-
@ten Don’t worry, training a dog to hunt potatoes is super easy. You’ll barely waste a calorie on it.

For at least today, for one moment in time, there is justice in the world. This makes me happy.

I started doing Historical European Martial Arts two weeks ago (finally), with a local group that just formed. I’ve been doing it most days since then, and I ache, but it’s a really good ache. I have more energy than I have in years, and I feel great. Plus I get to swing a sword around.

Tornado hit my house Tuesday. Six trees down, one on my house, and the power pole snapped in two and the live wires killed two massive trees worth of birds and squirrels. No one was injured, the one child home was fine, my mechanic was at the house and acted: great man.
I had the greatest day Tuesday. I happened to get the news of the third tornado to damage my life in three years during the first break of the trial in NYC. They led me to a side room to check my phone. I have insurance and won’t have a home a couple of months again. The real life happy is that I spent the day inside the courtroom for closing arguments of one of the most significant trials in American history.

I gave my child chocolate milk and showed her the joys of blowing bubbles in the milk.
Why did our parents tell us not to blow bubbles? It is awesome!
-
@junipersky It ends in spilled milk.
-
@Snackness But there’s no use crying over it.
