@InkGolem Well, the IP rights are no longer with Onyx Path; they expired and moved back to the original IP-holder, who I do work for.

From discussion on another thread, I’m now curious which US states have never had a MU* with them as their primary location. Here’s what I found from a cursory search.

          California - Liberation
Colorado - Sheltering Skies, Shadowrin Denver
          Louisiana - Black Bayou
          New Mexico - Masquerade
          Virginia - Keys
          Washington - GarouMUSH

@Jumpscare Aaaaaalaaaaabama, Alaska, Arizona (I almost marked this because I forgot Reno was in Nevada), Arkansas, California (Several), Colorado (Sheltering Skies, Shadowrun Denver, others), Connecticut. ding-ding-ding Delaware, Florida (I played on an oWoD game in Florida before I made it to CoH, but this was years ago), Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois(surely there’s been Chicago, right?), Indiana! Ding-ding-ding…

I was working on a game a few years back set in Utah about the fight against a secret society of supernatural body jumpers hidden within a large, prominent religion here but in the end figured it would be more headache than it was worth, lol.

but I still think SLC would be a fascinating setting for urban fantasy/horror.

I remember a game in the late 90s that was set in a weird small town, and if anyone asked if the game was set in X state, the answer was always yes.

I’ve never seen a game set in North Dakota.

I was about to say I’ve never seen a game set in Australia either but an old memory is tickling my brain on that one.

There was a game set in Honolulu in the late 90s! I played myself (basically) and became ghouled to the toreador primogen.

@Jennkryst Idaho’s been done, as has Washington State. John Wayne’s werewolf game - I forget the name of it - was set in Idaho, and GarouMUSH was set in Washington State.

I was going to make a New Jersey joke, but upon reflection, Atlantic City would make a great setting. Lots of class issues, places for things to hide…

WoD North Dakota would be interesting for some spheres and not for others. It would work well for Werewolf and Mage, but to do Vampire there, you’d have to increase the populations and sizes of the major cities to support Vampires, and by doing so, eliminate one of the unique aspects of North Dakota as a state, namely the relative isolation and small populations of the communities there.

Vamps would have it hard, yes, hunting would be extremely hard. They would need to subsist on mandragora gardens, animals, and closely guarded herds imported for that purpose. The relative isolation does mean far less oversight, though, so it’s way easier to hide your underground dungeon full of blood dolls.

@labsunlimited If I were to do Vampire in ND, I’d make it where the game represented the entire state, ignore the factions (so Cam / Anarch / Sabbat for OWoD and the Covenants for NWoD) and just have it where the players are the few Vampires roaming the state, and occasionally they gather in the only Elysium in the state to resolve disputes and stuff. Maybe one Prince for the entire State if you really want some level of organization.

In the Time of Thin Blood book from revised there was a description of a vampire running an entire Midwestern rural town out of their lair. All of the major players in town served that vampire, and I think there was some mention of childer but I can’t quite remember and I don’t have access to it at the moment. The idea of that was always striking to me, especially since I was living in a fairly rural Illinois town outside of Chicago at the time. I could see that being something that you would run into in a ND town. It would likely not make for a good MUSH, though.
