It makes me happy to hear you have baby proofed your home for your kitty.
-
I sweep baby into my arms on the toilet and accept scratches as the price I must pay for cuddles.
Yes. I am weird.

Getting to share Fat Bear Week with you guys:

Entertainment while you pee!!

@junipersky he does it like every time. He is so frustrated that I somehow prevent him from getting at the other orange idiot on the other side of the mirror.

OK so, hear me out…peanut butter and dill pickle sandwiches. I know. I KNOW. BUT.
I was fuckin’ aghast when I first heard this was a thing, and then that turned into a strange relentless curiousity, and then I tried it.
First bite: “Uhh. Hmm. Not gross.”
Second bite: “…Ok, I think I get it.”
Third bite: “…oh my god, I think I…like this a lot???”Now I’ve got goddamn dill pickles and peanut butter next to each other on my shopping list and like, it’s such a weird tiny thing but it brings me such joy to make a discovery like this at 35.
-
@Wizz Are we talking kosher baby dill? Kosher dill slices? What?
-
@TNP Crinkle cut kosher dill slices, between two slices of peanut-buttered bread so the brine doesn’t just soak in. (…The crinkle cut isn’t important, I just like 'em. Lol)

Does world of warcraft count as RL? I’m going to count it as RL.
We had a gap in raid leadership due to the previous one burning out completely, which, you know, I get, so this patch I took it up. Some definite growing pains but I think we were helped by the fact that this season, we’ve all done all these raids before.
Last couple days we had a few serious issues – one person complaining directly about the fact that we were doing easier raids to get everyone the seasonal mount instead of pushing hard (something I had said we would be doing the very first day of the patch), and yesterday one person who has consistently been a poor performer but is a good guy screwing up a mechanic that kept killing people.
Thing is, guy complaining on Sunday actually chilled completely out last night, and had stopped a lot of other annoying behaviors he’d been showing. Guy who was messing up, once we took a break and I talked to him directly and stressed priorities in the fight and gave him clear and specific instructions managed to pull it off damn near perfectly the next pull.
I feel like I’m finally getting my footing under me. It’s a neat role, if stressful.

@Selira Leading a raid is a hard and generally thankless task, but oh boy is it great when it comes together.

Got my updated covid booster and my flu shot like an hour ago! Though this year’s flu shot is way harsh.

@mietze Good luck. It’s been 14 days and a few hours and you can ALMOST not even see the spots on my arms anymore!!

I have been trying to convince people I know to try this for years. It’s brilliant. Welcome to the very secret and exclusive club of people in the know that this wonder combo is not gross.
(But I prefer spears over crinkle-cut.)

I may have to try this.
-
What kind of bread do y’all use for that?

Hey. I got married.
My feet hurt.
I’m not hungover.
I realized that by using my experience from RPing on mushes, that apparently I write really good vows while under an extreme time-crunch. My family was surprised because they don’t hear my talk at length a lot.
My brother-in-law who is a stupidly gifted singer and guitarist played an acoustic version of Nine Inch Nails’ “We’re in this Together Now” because he and my wife knew how much of a NIN fan I am. That was the closest I came to absolutely losing my shit. He then played a Jimmy Eat World song for her.
It was all worth it. Even if the photographers couldn’t figure out which grandmother was on which side of the family. I’ll have more details later. I slept, but I’m still exhausted.
But…I’m happy. For the first time in a very long time, I’m truly happy. Not the kind of happy that say you are because you don’t want anyone to worry about you, but the honest kind. That’s as sappy as I’ll get here but, yeah.
For right now, in this moment. I’m good.

In yet another entry in the saga that is my year, I got a flat tire. The whole thing was a harrowing experience, but that’s not what I’m here to talk about.
I’m here to talk about the tire guys I went to. So I thought my tire was REALLY dead, and I was prepared to have to replace. Found a place on google that had used tires and a bunch of glowing reviews, in a terrible, terrible part of the big city I am in (I am a rural girl, folks). Deep breath.
So I went (driving on my spare), and when I got there, the place looked dire. Like, REALLY dire. I wasn’t entirely sure I had made the right choice, but in for a penny, in for a pound, I pulled in between a couple of piles of garbage tires.
A helpful, helpful man stepped out of the dire little shack.
I explain to him what’s going on; my tire is dead, I need a replacement, I know I probably have to buy two. He looks at my tires and goes ‘nah, probably only one, but I see the old one there, can we fix it?’ I was all, 'I’m pretty sure it’s toast but you can look at it if you want."
Long story short, it was completely fixable. I expected several hundred dollars; my total was $15. They checked my other tires (everything was fine), put air in two of them. These guys could EASILY have sold me the tires I was there for originally – they didn’t.
When I started crying (relief), guy looks at me and is like, “It gets better. It really does.”
So. Yeah. That was my today.
