re: game awards
-
The literal only thing that I cared about with the gaming awards was that Christopher Judge won best performance.
He owned that shit as Kratos, giving a character with only meager character depth in the first three games(and I say that having played the hell out of them when they first came out), to such a nuanced and evolved character. And I think that was largely in part due to his performance.

Dwarf Fortress is finally out on Steam and I have already lost hours of my life to it. I loooove the new UI and if you haven’t ever played or tried and gave up because of how weird and arcane the controls and graphics were, it has never been more accessible and enjoyable imo.
-
@Wizz Yeah, I already started, restarted, oh God a tree fell on my one axedwarf restart again, wait I forgot how to play everything augh!!!..'d myself into a fort, and will probably get into it again after work.
All because they have the one thing I’ve asked Rim World to add for years, yet they never do - Z levels.
-
Witcher 3’s next gen update has taken an already beautiful game and gone further. A few bugs here and there but otherwise simply excellent.
With the game appearing quite often on sale on Steam, if you’ve not played it for like $7 to get 80+ hours gameplay. It is very much worth it.

@Pax If you ever want a bronze mercy pocket, I’m your girl. I’d even unmute my mic…and then mute it again when you get sick of my voice.
-
@Luna add me but heads up I suck: Pax#11805
-
@Whisky Dang I didn’t even know that was available already.
-
@Pax I suck tooooo!! But I’m like the most redic Mercy main who keeps rezing a bad widow and being like ‘I believe in you’. I put the support in support.
I’m TruckerDave there but all weird like because idk.
-
I didn’t particularly want to like it but Dragonflight is a lot of fun.
Between raiding and Mythic+ though it’s starting to eat away at the rest of my hobbies which I have mixed feelings about.
-
@Wizz My only complaint so far is that pre-manager, it’s a lot harder to queue up multiple items than it used to be. Getting enough beds and doors for my dorfs quickly was rough.
Also, I have to learn new hotkeys. Grumble.
Paat that? It’s great. A few things I am still going to have to relearn but I think I’ll be able to stay committed to a fortress longer.
-
I had only really recently discovered that there was a remake of the Sega Saturn game Panzer Dragoon. I have very fond memories of playing the shit out of this game at a display at a Toys-R-Us in my very, very early teens. As in, 13 or so. I saw a PS4 remake at Best Buy while shopping for family and it was a no brainer. I haven’t played it yet, mostly because I don’t know it’ll play on my PS5(it should I expect), but I’m just happy I get to relive that game.
-
I am very late to it, but does anybody play on the Project Ascension servers here? I just started and I am having enormous amounts of fun just making up builds that sound cool in my head and trying to make them work.
-
I just picked up Machinist in FFXIV for the very first time.
I have not played anything that melted things like this since old school fire mage with every buff up hitting with pyroblast. And it’s…every couple of rounds.
o.o
Mind, I can’t even get the rotation timed just right yet so I’m not even melting to the extent of the class’s ability.

Hi-Fi Rush! Boss fights to NIN, the best thing I have played in a long time.
Stylish, Fun, Over the top, Cyberpunk story!

Cultist Simulator is both amazing and awful for folks with ADHD brains.
Loads of spinning plates, combinations of things to remember, different things on different timers and different things to manage… and there’s also never a good spot to pause and hyperfocus means that whoops, it’s been four hours. Definitely do NOT play before bed, but it’s awesome if you need to kill some time.

Cultist Simulator is a game I like to say that I can play for hours - but be entirely unsure that I enjoyed any of those hours. It’s absorbing without being entertaining. It does kill time admirably, and there are so many places where it is ALMOST amazing. The lore and atmosphere are cool. But the gameplay is addictively baffling.
-
@Pyrephox Yeah, I’m discovering that it’s less of a game and more of a fascinating hostage situation.
-
@Pyrephox Addictively baffling is a great way to describe it. I’ve played a lot of cultist simulator, nearly 100 hours in it, and it definitely loses something once you figure out how things work, I think.
But I love it so much all the same, even though a lot of the times I go to play it now I just get bored.
-
I’ve really enjoyed it, it scratches my brain itch nicely, but yeah Cultist Simulator definitely ends up with a bit of the same gameplay loop. I’m probably going to finish up dancer path on it soon, then go for an advanced ending, then put it away.
Really looking forward to their next game, though, which is supposed to be less grindy and expand on their lore more. Looks like a demo just dropped, might try it out later.
