Your being around makes games better. It’s never any issue to catch you back up again to things when you have capacity and wish to get back into stuff.

Whenever anyone asks why I haven’t been RPing so much recently, I just point at Baldur’s Gate 3 and suddenly the response is “Oh, that makes sense. See you in a month.”

@Cobalt i have periods of this (also experienced a brief one kicked off by a very depressing experience with a rando). But at least with the play partners and acquaintances i have now its perfectly fine bc most of them are going to be there too at some point. I bet all of the folks you interacted with on the new places feel the same way. Hopefully they’ll reach out or you can slip back in soon if that’s what you’d like to do. But I think most long term mushfolk understand. Doesn’t make it easier but you’re not alone.

I am friends with so many flakes
Every time they return I am genuinely delighted to see them though. There is never, ever a time I do not want to welcome back, greet, and RP with my flake friends.
The friend part weighs a lot more than the flake part. RL is a thing, mental stuff is a thing. I’m happy for any time of theirs that I get.

For real, I have zero concept of time when it comes to friendships. Time spent apart just doesn’t register. If you haven’t talked to me for four years, I will not be mad. My reaction will be “Ohhhh, shit, dude! How are you? Where have you been?!” with no anger or disappointment, just excited to see you.
So if you haven’t talked to me since 2014 or whatever, come say hi. I promise it’s fine.

please. i am begging people. when new to a game, take a week to get a sense of the culture and if it’s a good fit for you before you do shit that sucks up everyone’s attention and energy, and make sure you even understand the basics of how the game runs and why before you make a thousand suggestions about how to change it.

this type of personality is extra wild to me because it’s almost completely just about tone-deaf bragging. y’know, it’s actually more impressive to me when someone can easily navigate a system someone else has made, rather than listening to them improvise “improvements” that are likely more broken in the long run, or even just nakedly of benefit to the person suggesting them.
