Why do people say they want to RP with me and then…not RP with me? This is mainly rhetorical but also, is it me? It’s okay if it’s me, I’d just like to know.

I want to rp with you. But I won’t because my brain doesn’t have enough cells to rp these days.

@Snackness I do this a lot to everyone and it’s not a them thing but a me thing.
Me: Hey wanna grab a scene sometime? I want to rp with you!
Them: yeah!3 days later
Me: oh that person never asked me to rp, they were probably being nice, oh maybe that’s the brain weasels and i should just ask them, but they know I want to rp so why aren’t they asking me?
3 more days later:
Me: it’s too late to ask now and if they wanted to scene with me they would’ve asked, right? right.And then it’s 3 weeks and I haven’t logged into the game and my anxiety is on HIGH ALERT and i’ll just play My Time at Sandrock because that seems really easier than asking people to play with me.

I really truly don’t want this to turn into a ‘Tell Snackness why you haven’t scened with her’ thing. I do get it. I have brain weasels too. And kids (well, one), and holidays, and work, and sometimes COVID. I’m just peeving. It’s frustrating sometimes.

I often ask this question too.
But honestly? I think this is a question that a lot of people internally ask.

“I would love to RP sometime!”
“Me too! Hit me up anytime!”
It will literally never happen.“I would love to RP sometime!”
“Me too, what day this week would work for you? Thursday or Saturday is best for me.”
Better odds of it happening.IDK why but it seems like heaps of people can’t get to the when shall we do this stage even if they’re the ones that initiated interest.

I can’t prove this but I get the sense most people who say they want to RP with you need you to be the one who reaches out to follow up because they take a failure to do so as rejection.
Dunno if that’s the dynamic with you, obviously. For all I know, you have been reaching out. It’s just something I’ve been thinking about that might or might not be useful to you.

Fighting FOMO, but manage to make plans to do rp today with a character I’d like to play more! And then see the person plans are with make plans to do two other RP scenes instead, so open up Beip to at least spectate other people RPing.
Beip has lost all config, I have no worlds or chars to connect to. Feels like a hint.

That’s because the RP brain cell is shared among like a dozen of us, these days. At least that’s what it feels like.

How–how are you in my head. I am in this EXACT situation right now. And I know I should just be like ‘hey would you be okay with me starting a scene finally?’ but since the original conversation they have started other scenes with other people and I’m convinced now they are clearly too busy so I should not bother them.
Why do we do this.

I think I have shown in various posts over the years that I always think the worst is about me. Brain weasel. Rejection sensitivity. Whatever we want to call it.
I do this exact thing.
On the flip side. I also tell people that I want to scene or I’m good to scene. Then I forget who I talked to. Not because I don’t care, but because my brain didn’t retain. So those weeks I’m also kind of hoping they ask again.
I do find that can we meet on X date at X time does work better for me. I should get more in that habit.

@RightMeow That’s pretty much me too. I reach out to a dozen people but then I forget who I already talked to and really, the safest way to catch me is to ping me and be like, ‘you there, make a thing happen’.
That said, ping me anytime you visit.
