Like, you can read a nearly infinite number of horny words with basically zero effort. Same with Imaglr. Or with PornHub. You can go have a wank without bothering anyone, if you go do it over there.”
isn’t the, uh…point of TS that it’s still collaborative writing, tho?
not that I would know, Innocent and Pure Lamb of Jesus’ Pasture that I am.

I think in cases where you’re going to be such a nutter about it (like above) it’s likely less about the collaboration and more about the power trip. But still that would require another person, yes.

I mean, ideally yes? But I also just kind of assumed that if someone has such rampant disregard for the other person that they’re lying to get TS, the whole “other person” part really isn’t factoring into the decision-making anymore, anyway. Like if your goal is to get off without really caring what you have to do to manage it, there’s faster and easier ways to go about it that don’t involve being awful to other people. They can be more ethical and more efficient with their smut!

But the goal likely isn’t to get off without really caring what they have to do to manage it. It’s to get off with another person without really caring what they have to do to manage it. And just any person may not do. Cost, looks (in this medium, writing style), personality, etc. are potential qualifications for the other person. Rape would be much less of a thing if all rapists wanted was just an orgasm.

begging people to at least try a single keyword search in the extensive documentation of the thing they’re always asking about

As an extension to this, when giving help please link/direct people to the help documentation rather than/as well as providing the answer.

I bet if we all had a dollar for every situation that could have been resolved by someone taking even the most basic review of a game’s documentation, we’d all be way less financially desperate.

@Roz Why would I do that when someone always answers me tho

Tempted, now, to write some passive-aggressive code snippet that looks for the words ‘how do I’ on a game’s Help or Newbie channel and just pages with “have you tried fuckin’ lookin’ it up, champ?”
ETA: I’ll be nice and make it only send for characters created 30+ days ago.

Shadowrun Denver has a great thing on the game itself: +document/find. It searches every +help or +policy file on the game, and in the past people have passive aggressively answered questions with ‘+document/find [word]’.
Sure is a shame about the other bits.

Make it even more passive aggressive and have it lock out all other commands until they type the exact command required to answer the question. So everytime they type anything, the game just responds with something like “Have you tried +help +desc yet?”.
-
@MisterBoring Either that or the game just produces the generic “Huh?” ‘I don’t understand’ message until you type it out.
