      A somewhat silly one:

I am a solitary person. The reasons for that are not all good nor all bad, but the results have been that I rarely ever invite people back to my house for anything, or really initiate hangouts (largely because I have a crippling fear that if people say yes, it’s only because they pity me and are good enough people to put up with the boring person for a little while).

A few weeks ago, I invited my gaming group to a dinner at my house. They came! I cooked + they brought sides, and…a good time was had by all.

As stupid as it sounds, it’s really the first time I’ve invited a group of friends over to my house for a dinner/hangout since high school (which was quite a while ago). I’m very happy that it went well.

It may not really mean much coming from a random person, but you did a great job and I’m proud of you.

My little sister has had 2 first trimester miscarriages, and it has been really difficult for her. She announced last night she made it through the 1st trimester last night with baby #3!!

And a special warm hug for me, she said they are planning on the name Juniper because she always loved my online tag. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

One of my therapy clients, a survivor of intense domestic violence, specifically wants to keep seeing me because I’m a good man.

            Fuck, man. Just… fuck.

I don’t know if this is from a generative “AI” or not (but some parts strongly suggest yes), but I had to get @tsar to see this as the resident expert on 🐌s.

This is screen-snipped from one of my Discords, and even if it’s fake it made me lol/happy.

The strange delight I feel when students suffer from autocorrect.

This week, there were a lot of nasty analyses and nasty generalisations.

I miss this thread (even though it’s only been a couple months) and wanted to share a positive moment and hopefully read others too.

Our youngest kiddo has started communicating better and working on not yelling/cursing/fighting when they get mad.

When we praised them for this and asked what brought on this determination they answered, “I am not scared I’ll have to leave anymore. I know this is my home and I want to be happy.”

We are their 10th home. Our kids (biological siblings) moved into our home a few years ago as a foster placement. The adoption has been finalized over a year now. They have each had their own struggles and victories. I know our journey will continue to have highs and lows. Today though? Is a definite high.

@SockMonkey After a decade+ of working in child welfare law and finally escaping, this is exactly the kind of feel good story that makes me tear up. Thank you for sharing it.

let it be a challenge to you

@sao Thank YOU for your work and the difference your dedication made. We are so grateful for the good members of our team who helped us through the process.

I’m not going to lie and act like it’s been easy or that we’ve gotten everything right alone the way. It’s been lots of laughter combined with a lot of frustration and even more apologies as my husband and I were learning. When you step back and think about what THEY’RE dealing with though it makes it easier to keep trying.

I can honestly say my kids are my heroes. They have been given every reason to be bitter and closed off to the world, but they are the kindest humans (kid or adult) and have such big hopes.

@Gashlycrumb This is why I have to stop typing conversations on my phone. Autocorrect catches a lot of things for me, but if I get even a HINT of distraction (or it scrolls off the screen from typing a lot) I will have some doozies of a “wut?” autocorrect spotting when I see the response.
